WR Brandin Cooks, Free Agent (1 Viewer)

Thoughts on Cooks production tonight coming off a big game?

On one hand, Thursday nights have been blowouts and carolina pass defense is not great.

On another hand, Saints, Brees, cooks, are not exactly a great road team.

He's teetering on the edge of starting for my team. I feel like he'lol either be great tonight or just disappear.

I'm a little concerned about his road production but I'm in bye week hell so I'm going with his upside and the hope the matchup is so good (and it is) they'll figure out a way to get the ball to Cooks tonight. There's no denying he always has a very high ceiling.

Not surprising that the week AFTER sean peyton goes on record about NEEDING to get the ball to cooks, he has the best game of his season.

Love the kid.

Just traded for Cooks in two leagues. Consider me officially on board and disregard the previously posted hate. Sorry. Thats how things work in fantasy. Go Cooks!

Let us know what you had to give up.
Agreed. Thinking about trying to acquire him as well. Next 3 are at home, and 5 out of 7 at home down the stretch for most of us (Week 16ers). Very interested in him as the Saints and his speed are very appealing at home.

Fail. Held this POS for 5 weeks so I could play him week 9, worst bye week ever, and he let us all down.

PTTS

Can't wait to cut him

Will still start him with confidence for the remaining home games. Home & away stats are like two different players. I may not start him again on the road unless I'm really stuck.

Seems like New Orleans and Atlanta are different teams home and away.
Cooks is utilized way more at home. I was excited when he had 2 catches on that opening drive and then he was nonexistent the rest of the game. But Brees was spreading the ball around so much it was hard for any WR to get going. I don't know why they were putting Meachem out there though. Seemed strange.

Home splits: 7.7rpg, 74.7ypg, 1TD (3 games)

Road splits: 4rpg, 37.2ypg, 1TD (5 games)

Great play when the Saints are at home, not so much when they are on the road

In one league I coughed up C. Patterson and a second (dynasty). In the other I paid Trent Richardson straight up (redraft).

He had 1 good game all @#@# year and that was last week, thanks for screwing me again...in 2 leagues!! Not close to startable at this point.

The home/road thing is really bizarre given Cooks' talent and obviously Brees. Other than Week 1, Cooks hasn't caught more than 3 passes in any road game. Conversely, he's caught six or more in every home game. Sure would suck not being able to start a high-upside part of the New Orleans offense if he's healthy but the trend has become a strong one. When the Saints are on the road, Cooks is a desperation play only and not a very good one at that.

It seems the Saints face more pass rush pressure on the road, leaving Brees to make quicker decisions and possibly not getting to Cooks in his progressions. Kenny Stills seems to have taken the Lance Moore role of being Drew's bailout option. That's my armchair analysis.

I might've been the only man in America to start Stills (20-team league). On the other hand, Cooks killed me in dynasty. It's a two-PPR league so he's done better for me there than in other leagues. I probably do have to keep starting him, as we have large starting lineups. At least most of the Saints remaining schedule is at home. The road defenses don't scare me (in theory).

Hate starting this guy. Haven't gotten a good game yet in my lineup. Here's hoping third times a charm.
seems like he produces at home in the dome.... at least that is what the gamelogs show.... has 3 home games in a row... he's my flex for now over m. bryant

Worst home game so far in PPR has been 15.4 points.

He's caught at least 6 passes and had at least 55 yards receiving in every home game.

In terms of trends, you can't find a much stronger one than starting Cooks at home. Usage and production are both significantly higher in home games for him so far than on the road.

So we're starting him this week, right?

His PPR ppg @home so far: 15.4, 16.1, 27.8.

Trying to decide to roll with Cooks or Ingram this week. Cooks has let me down in the past, but he does play well at home.

I think I'm rolling with both....crazy? Don't have many choices with a couple out on bye. Really needing to win this week

I would if I could but that would be benching Forte, Marshall or Roddy. Right now I have Ingram in. But this is usually when Cooks goes off

Home-Away holding true. 2 catches for 70 yards and a TD through a quarter and a half.
So is this a Home-Away thing or an every other week thing? I guess we'll find out this coming up week.
Feel like it really is home/away. His numbers are just too crazy to say it's every other week.

Home (4 games) - 28rec, 314yds, 2TDs. AVG - 7rec, 78.5yds, .5TDs

Away (5 games) - 20rec, 186yds, 1TD. AVG - 4rec, 37.2yds, .2TDs

NO as a whole doesnt produce too well on the road, but that seems to be changing (hopefully)

Theres no reason for them to disregard Cooks on the road, he is their most dangerous weapon in the pass game, Graham not included

Rotoworld:

Brandin Cooks broke his thumb in Sunday's loss to the Bengals and his initial timetable is 2-4 weeks.
ESPN's Mike Triplett has confirmed a Cox Sports report of the injury, which comes as a surprise after Cooks was not known to be hurt Sunday. It saps an already scuffling Saints offense of an electric playmaker and top punt returner. Cooks' absence gives Kenny Stills a nice bump going forward as he projects to run more high-percentage routes instead of sticking in the old Devery Henderson/Robert Meachem role. Cooks was averaging 7.0 targets per game through the first 10 games of his rookie campaign, producing a 53-550-3 line.

Rotoworld:

Saints placed WR Brandin Cooks (thumb surgery) on injured reserve, ending his season.
It's a bit surprising, as Cooks' 4-6 timetable gave him a shot at returning during the regular season, but the Saints have apparently decided they can't spare the roster spot. The No. 20 overall pick of May's draft, Cooks' rookie season ends with a 53/550/3 line as a receiver, and seven rushes for 73 yards and an additional score. Cooks was inconsistent, but showed definite promise as a playmaker, and seemed to be making strides as a downfield receiver. He remains a strong hold in Dynasty leagues, and will be a candidate to take a major step forward in 2015. Cooks is still only 21 years old.

Rotoworld:

Brandin Cooks (thumb surgery) has resumed catching passes and lifting weights.

Cooks should be close to 100 percent, and will be a full participant in the Saints' offseason program after going down in mid-November. "This work that I’m going to put in during the offseason will be huge for next year," Cooks said. "I can’t wait to get out there and be a playmaker." Cooks flashed as a rookie, but the Saints seemed torn on whether to feature him underneath or outside. However he's utilized in 2015, Cooks will be a candidate for a big step forward.

Rotoworld:

Brandin Cooks plans to work out with Drew Brees this summer.

Cooks has resumed football activities after going down in mid-November. He's three months removed from thumb surgery and expects to be ready for the Saints' offseason. Cooks is a candidate for a step forward in his second year. He should return in a high-volume slot role.

Not sure if it's a positive or negative for Cooks now that Graham is gone. More targets but more attention too.

I can't deny I love me some Cooks...

But when I was approached last week to trade him for the 1.02 in a PPR dynasty, I had to say yes...

This makes me feel WAY more confident in that move.

I like Cooks too but I'm feeling a little bit of a regression this year as well. There was some big plays left on the field because Brees didn't have time to throw the ball deep. I seem to remember some of that pressure coming right up the middle of the line so maybe the center they got will help that. Not sure.

Brandin Cooks - WR - Saints

Brandin Cooks was on pace for 85 catches, 997 yards from scrimmage, and over six touchdowns before succumbing to a year-ending thumb injury as a rookie.

Cooks was a hit-and-miss fantasy asset before going down, but these are pretty nice numbers for a rookie wideout who didn't turn 21 until his first NFL season was three weeks old. Cooks' fantasy outlook got a bump this offseason when the Saints traded Jimmy Graham and Kenny Stills. See where Cooks lands in Evan Silva's Pre-Draft Top 150 Rankings, accessible at the link below.
