WR Calvin Ridley, TEN (3 Viewers)

1st thing I thought of was that Ridley cannot travel to London due to whatever the local mask/mandates/vaccination rules are and that's about as far as we can discuss things. That said I find it hard to believe he is the ONLY one on 2 NFL teams right now so my brain says it might be more family related and the way Atlanta says Ridley has their full support, he might be going thru something really terrible so I would prefer to just send best wishes until we know more.

🤷‍♂️

Yeah, I'm thinking this could be a legit family issue based on that. If it was a vaccination issue I would think that would have come up prior to Wednesday, since they knew they were flying to London all along.

Could this be it? You do have to be vaccinated to go overseas right?

If not vaccinated, he could travel (with a negative test result), but would have to quarantine during his stay. During quarantine he would have to get two more negative tests. Not sure on the timing (have to assume a day apart at least). And I think these are the more lenient guidelines that went into place in June?

Maybe he forgot to renew his passport and he didn’t check it until the night before. (Like my buddy who’s wife almost murdered him then night before they were supposed to leave their kids behind for a 5 day trip to Mexico a few weeks ago)

So any further news on that family issue? Hopefully the addition of the bye will make it easier to resolve without distractions.

They are being very hush hush on his personal matter. I guess we won't know anything until next week on if it's resolved.

NFL & ATL keeping this close to the vest ..... Covid Related ????  (they/ he lied about being vaccinated? or he had concerns about Covid with travel? =   hot topic NFL likes to sweep under the rug and continue business as usual)

Just hope he & his family are ok ........ and selfishly, I hope he plays next week

wut

wild conspiracy theories aren't really helpful. More likely he has a sick relative/death in the family.

It's a "personal matter" he's attending to. If he had some scandalous fake vaccination I'm certain it would be headline news.

We'll all know more about whatever is going on before the week 7 games, so maybe let it breathe until then.

Yeah should have read "as he ended up on my waiver wire".  I burnt the #1 pick to claim him.  It's a non-PPR and according to yesterday's FBG rankings he'd be my WR4 which seems low for a guy that was predicted to potentially challenge for WR1 overall at the beginning of the year.

was just curious if there was any rumors about last week that I might have been missing before I spent the pick, seems like none

He's on a BYE this week and "Q" without update as he left the team for a personal matter prior to the London game.

FBG still has him ranked top-10 overall WR, no... am I looking at something different?

Don't think that was the issue... for $$$ you can get an expedited passport (<24 hrs)
I just got a passport.
your 2 options:

1. Regular process. 6-8 months

2. expedited process, $85 more, 3-4 months.

There is no option to pay more for anything faster. The state dept moves at glacial speed, and with the cluster that has been travel in the COVID ERA, there’s a backlog. It can take 2 months or more just to get an appointment. (Mine took 9 weeks)

Whoever told you there’s a 24 hour option was misinformed,

There’s literally been zero news about it since he missed the trip “due to personal reasons”.

Not one blurb. Nothing. Whomever dropped Ridley in redraft is either not a smart person, or heard from Ridley’s brother’s cousin’s friend’s sister who saw him pass out at the Baskin-Robbins so it must be pretty serious.

I will be keeping my ears peeled for news next week though.

HE PASSED OUT AT THE BASKIN-ROBBINS??????  AND THIS WAS CONFIRMED BY A SISTER???????

This kind of behind the scenes info is exactly why I subscribe to FBG

I'm pretty sure this is wrong.  You can apply expedited in person for something faster.  Here's an example from the Seattle Passport Agency office.  Note the part I bolded.

To apply at this passport agency, you must meet all of the following requirements:

Make an appointment by calling 1-877-487-2778 or 1-888-874-7793, 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday. Our appointment line is closed on the weekend and on federal holidays. We do not charge a fee to make appointments.

Be traveling internationally within 72 hours (3 business days)

Be able to show printed proof of international travel (such as your flight itinerary, hotel reservation, cruise tickets, or international car insurance)

Pay the $60 expedite fee in addition to the regular application fees.

Note: you can schedule your appointment up to 2 weeks before your international travel but the date of your appointment must be within 3 business days of your international travel. If you need a foreign visa, the date of your appointment must be within 10 business days of your international travel.

If you have a life-or-death emergency, please see Life-or-Death Emergencies. If you don't meet the requirements for an appointment, please see Where to Apply for other options.

I’m sorry but this is wrong on many levels. You can get a passport in 3 days if you have international travel.

Guys, nfl teams have people who arrange the passport process for the teams. It’s a process that’s been in place for over a decade. Why is this even being discussed.

The travel rules for unvaccinated people are challenging. Maybe that's the explanation.

Maybe COVID has effected this, but more than a few of my colleagues have received passports the next day after setting up a live interview at the passport agency in NYC (our CHQ was an hour away)... just needed letter from our employer, confirmed (reserved) itinerary, and $$$. This was post 9/11, but pre-COVID.

Visas too (as needed)... same day... interview in the morning, pick up visa in the afternoon, then straight to JFK.

Yeah, things have changed a LOT since then.

How? I literally just went through the process. I paid for expedited (the only option they had besides regular) - it took 9 weeks to get an appointment & it’s already been 6 weeks without receiving my passport yet.

but go on telling me I’m wrong.

This is not currently accurate. There’s a backlog. I paid the $60 (+$25 post office processing fee) and it’s 3-4 months.

I just did it. There’s no way to even get an appointment for months. No way. I called the number, I was told to make an appointment through my local post office. I was going to go to Puerto Vallarta back in August, but I’m now going in January instead.

I swear to god, if I said I just went swimming & water was wet, there’d be people on here arguing it wasn’t.

Yes, I was set to go to Vietnam with my (now ex) wife and realized, the day before, my passport had expired - it was a lot of running around and had to pay extra fees, but ended up getting it done and was on the plane the next day. This was also pre-Covid and post 9/11.

You =/ Calvin Ridley

My word you guys, stop clogging the Ridley thread with how the #### the common Joe passport process.

Another scenario where HSG is definitely totally right and everyone else is wrong. So weird! Chances he missed the game because of a passport issue has to be next to 0. Next week will be interesting.

You can get absolutely get a passport same day with proof of international travel, be located near an office which can accommodate and willingness to pay a premium. Anyone can do this. Wife just had to arrange this for her boss' kid.

It's not Covid and it's not passport related. Of that were pretty certain. If it was Covid, it would be plastered all over the news, especially if he didn't take the jab since Atlanta declared they were 100%.

Lane Johnson in Philly is also away from the team on a personal matter right now and we have no news about it. Just have to hope it is really a family issue and that everything is ok for him and his family.

Hopefully it's not a death or sickness in the family or something else as bad but that's the read I'm getting here. I don't think it's an attitude thing or he broke team rules. We'd have probably heard something about that by now.

I just got my passport. I just went though it. But go on.

This. I hope everything is ok with the Ridley family, and I find it a little offensive that people can’t just let the process happen without some of the wild speculation. I want him back too, but my fantasy football team probably isn’t Ridley’s priority during whatever it is he’s going through.

It was on topic.  People are speculating he didn’t have a passport.

lighten up; Francis.

I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that you’re not a multi-million dollar athlete employee by a billion dollar organization that is part of a multi-billion dollar league.  If you’re not, and you’re calling 1-800-PASSPORT to sign up, then yeah, it might take you three months to get a passport mailed to you.

Also, to think an NFL team wouldn’t have passports lined up for all of their players and staff is nonsense, and to think they couldn’t get one in about two hours if is also not grasping that your passport experience is positively non relevant to what the NFL could make happen if absolutely necessary on short notice.
