WR Calvin Ridley, TEN (3 Viewers)

Ridley four drops here

Stats have just one drop
Looks pretty accurate actually. 3 of them weren't his fault. The one in the end zone he should have had. The others he could have got but bad passes or defended enough to throw it off.
Maybe

The Titans emphasized WRs getting after the ball, winning contested catches. It's been a thing all off-season that the HC feels can get em thru. And every radio host adds "til they get better players" to that sentence. Regardless of QB, there were too many close calls that could change a game. This was a mantra all offseason and even brought up as a quality they wanted from Ayo and Gunnar in the draft.

Oliver, Ayo, DMR, and Gunnar will about fight you for the ball.
Ridley- in camp- would out leap anyone and he seemed more savvy with this. He was coming back for it and adjusting a step here or there last second so he wins. Quite a few videos of one handed grabs where he's sorta putting his bod where the defender is and reaching- maybe kinda like a much older brother in a yard with a little brother.

Ridley said things like he felt this would both help the team and him and has been real impressed with how well it's worked. He was sooo on board with this, even the leader of the group. He spoke many times of how this helps build a rapport with Cam so he can trust them. About everyone echoed this sentiment.

These videos are not that.

He's a chump. No 6-6 beautiful running gazelle with incredible ability to run n leap and adjust on a dime and wow long arms should be way down on the losing side of 50/50 balls.

When the season started, we saw he reverted to last year's Ridley of suddenly running wrong routes and having some sort of conversation with the QB-waving arms, the it's on me look, dopey smile after a mistake. He said that was unacceptable as they worked on that and he fixed it. A prob for so much of his career, he hasn't done since week one. He put the work in and he fixed it and great job.

Well we know the mantra and he put the work in on this, so we expect it far better.

As every discussion finishes, it's always, what's it like to be Cam and NOT have a guy displaying a my ball mentality? He's WR1, probably often his first look or best option. He's a spot thrower and the most savvy WR (maybe Lockett idk) can't position his bod better to win more? That's gotta be rough for Cam and with their OL playing poorly, he can't afford to have hesitation but who wouldn't hesitate after a couple of those? Sooo Ridley is being a problem.

Coach said yesterday how he's stayed late and no one works harder than Calvin. It was noted CBs are staying with him. I can definitely infer he's working on it. Maybe it improves but it's been months n months that they already worked on it so there's a Cmon already! vibe to watching it.

It's not unlike some of Chig's atrocious blocks or non-blocks. They practiced it a 1000 times, how can he do that now?

I just can't quit this guy and every year I get burned. This is like fool me 3 or 4 times now so it's 100% my fault. I really hope he can pull his head out of his arse and figure it out but we know how this is going to end. Never again with this guy lol

I was so incredibly close to trading for Ridley. I thought he'd be getting peppered with targets from a rookie Cam Ward.

What's the deal?
Ayo is taking over the WR1 role
This may be possible but it looks like a team in total disarray. We'll see what relinquishing the play calling does this week.
Ridley was just dropped in a 12 Men Full Point PPR league.
My fear is they fire the coach and suddenly they remember how to play football again.

I am ready to do this myself and drop him in a 10 team league

10 team short bench, too much talent out there to hold on to someone doing nothing.

The only hope for Ridley owners is that he gets traded at the deadline to a contender with a good QB. Even then, Ridley will still be feast or famine.

I’m right there. He’s bench, bye week fodder at best. His rookie teammate is probably a better hold.

I really see no reason Tenn would need a high priced WR when they're going to win maybe 2 games. Would be better to get a 5th rounder for him and let the young guys play. We'll see what they do though.

I would have a very friendly conversation with Lockett about what he wants to do too.
Playing for Titans was his boyhood dream so maybe he wants to finish his career there and retire where he grew up. But what about with DK in Pittsburgh? Or Geno and Pete in LV?

Titans WRs Snaps + Routes👀
Elic Ayomanor: 80% snap + 23 routes
Tyler Lockett: 73% snap + 24 routes
Calvin Ridley: 54% snap + 12 routes
Van Jefferson: 41% snap + 11 routes

Calvin Ridley is now droppable.

Idk that I'd go that far but they definitely sent him a message some this week

There is not one player on TN that is startable now.

If Spears is back, now Pollard is sunk.
I don't believe this has ever been true.

Please don't make me compliment Callahan again today 😁, but I think he's always used them well together

That may have been true in the past, but this offense is just broken right now.
I can't say it often enough- y'all better make sure he still has his turbo button before starting him. His injury could quite reasonably hinder his explosiveness and that's his forte

Would love to drop him, but am worried the Titans eventually figure it out. The schedule has been pretty brutal to open the season (DEN, LAR, HOU, IND). Three of those are top 10 defenses on the year. Who knows how IND finishes, but they are also top 5 in TOP this year. So the opportunities aren't plentiful against them.

The optimist in me looks at the week 10 bye and an improvement for the offense in the second half of the year. A potential bump if/when Callahan gets fired and the slight possibility Ridley gets traded. Ridley only had 1 good week, in the first 8 weeks of the season, last year. He finished wr34 (half-ppr leagues), not ideal but much better than where he is currently ranked.

You won't start him.
Trade him for whatever or sit on him.
Right now , his prior play is just going to make you think about starting him.
In my experience we miss the rare good games on these types, sit the other weeks, and wish we traded them away

Sitting on waivers. Would be my #4 WR. Tempted.

Oh how I recall the fantasy experts saying, "What if Cam Ward is good? It can't be worse than last year. Can only go up right?"

I dropped him after this weeks performance. Nobody has picked him up in my 12 teamer. I figure he will sit on the wire until he has a decent game.

It'll probably happen next year too.
He is such an elite freak of an athlete and always rocks in camp.
It's the tease we're all ripe to fall for and it's been that way since day one of his career.

Ward is a spot thrower and I incorrectly thought that was such a perfect fitting type for Ridley. Their rapport was great and he'd just use that athleticism to get to any spot on the field and it looked sharp.

He's even been praised for putting in so much time doing everything you could probably imagine a WR doing.

But in season Ridley has always been that WR running a wrong route or doing something that has him motioning to the QB with his hands and dopey smiling after a bad play.

I make my share of dopey decisions in FF but I will always be wrong about this dude that learned from Julio and Nuk. He plays like he ignored them and listened to Treylon instead.

Get this bum out of the way and let Cam work with the young'uns ROS. I suspect the offense would improve to somewhere below avg, but no longer putrid with this bandaid rip alone.

They looked so good in preseason too. Yet another lesson to learn.
