They very well could have made the plays easier to read for him as well.  You don't know the play calls and read progression so maybe they're simplifying things a bit and it's working.  Either way I think you have to be encouraged by what he did today, but most people will be a little wary.

Philly's secondary is actually pretty good, and considering it was by far the best game he's ever had, I don't know how you could consider his performance anything but a shocker.

In any event, today was obviously encouraging, just pointing out that he wasn't able to build on his last encouraging game- hopefully he can string a few together this time.

This really wasn't the case today. He had a very good day, a very mature day.

They put in Mularkey's trick (which has been everyone's but Titans fans consider it his) of shifting the RB from the backfield to the WR spot so he can identify a LB.

The staff finally (four years finally) appears to be letting him use his feet; not to really go anywhere but just a little bit this way or that way and NOT look like a statue in the pocket. He has always been prolific on his feet and at the NFL level, he's been real good. It makes a world of difference for the guy that grew up a great soccer player. He's sort of trained to think on the run so while the NFL prefers a pocket passer, he can be 98% that and just let him step to the side once or twice or take a step up. It makes all the difference with this guy.

Davis is more often than not the first read especially today without Taywan. The Titans still feel like Taywan is going to be a star someday which is looking pretty bleak now but they're still high on him. Anywho, Davis had a good first half and the Pats doubled him many times in the second half. Marcus didn't force it and kept rolling along. We saw him hit several different targets. The best sign was probably Cameron Batson who we were all grumpy even made the team after not making a catch in preseason. You can be darn sure Mariota went through his reads til he wound up with Batson

The guy had a good day and if you mentally give him credit for some drops the last couple weeks, he's really been more accurate lately too. I think there was one bad throw that slipped, one that Davis made a heckuva grab on, and one that got bounced in the air. That's a pretty sharp day for a QB.

His progress will need to be toward 300 yards (regularly  if he's going to be special) and having a good QB run a couple times a game. For now, I'll take that he looks comfy and hope Taylor returns and gets utilized.

 
Was this breakout week what we can hope to see from Davis moving forward? 

Tempted to burn my #1 Waiver priority on him.

I honestly haven't had a chance to watch the game/ last couple weeks to really dive deep into his play. anyone who's watched most/ all his snaps the last few weeks have any more insight into how he projects ROS?

Probably worth a #1 waiver this late in the season.  But he's already had a few "breakout" weeks, that were followed by flops, so not sure there's a reason to believe he's turned the corner yet.  Opportunities and targets have always been there, but inconsistency from both Davis and his QB has been his main hindrance.  Until that changes, he still has a low floor and high ceiling, probably a perfect fit for a WR3 for your fantasy playoff run.

 
Just traded him in dynasty along with 2019 1.01 and 2019 2.01 (we do reverse potential points, so those picks are pretty much garunteed to be 1.1/2.1, barring something crazy, for Michael Thomas and a 2020 2nd.

Its a contract year league (max 100 accross 40 players) Thomas has 3 years left (including this one) and Davis has an open contract so new owner can assign any length.

 
I’ll just let you guys know when I’m starting him so you can bench him.  I loved him this year and missed every big game besides the Eagles game of course.

He's fine (in as fine as he has been lately). He was just shaken up. Vrabel said he could have gone back in but the game was out of hand so he just stayed with Bortles. 

Marcus wasn't happy with the decision and kept his mouth shut as good soldiers do, however everyone noticed that Vrabel said "Mariota is up next" and Bortles went to the podium.

 
Fifth week this year where it looks like LaFleur doesn't have a reasonable game plan. Fourth week this year where it was downright awful

Crazy how it seemed that the situation in Tennessee was a big plus for Davis when he was drafted. It's been a disaster and doesn't look like it's going to get better anytime soon.

 
Corey Davis caught all four of his targets for 96 yards and a touchdown in the Titans' 34-17, Week 12 loss to the Texans on Monday night.

He added 39 yards on an end-around rushing attempt, giving him 135 total yards on the night. The Titans were working it to Davis early and often, as he was smoking Johnathan Joseph in coverage while also drawing a 33-yard DPI penalty on another DB, but the offense mysteriously went away from him much of the second half. With one of his two second-half looks, Davis roasted Joseph for a 48-yard TD grab down the right side. One of the most unpredictable players in a totally unpredictable offense, boom-or-bust Davis will be a WR2 next week against the Jets.

Sooooooooooo weird that he didn’t get more targets when they were down so much. Game script was there. 

Coaching is inept in Tennessee.

Elite WR, lousy dysfunctional offense.

 
Are we starting this guy against the Jets this week? on paper it seems like a good matchup, as the Jet secondary is very beatable and they don't have much of a pash rush. My options are a beat up Drake, Sanders and Davis. Leaning Sanders, but think Davis will have a nice game too.

First week of playoffs (two weeks per matchup) and I'm starting both Davis and Baldwin. FML. 

 
this is the best sequence of games of his young career. but i just can't pull the trigger on putting him my wild card lineup against the jags on a thursday.

i want to start him so bad since it's been slow going since he came into the league. nice to see him emerging with a solid chunk of games but... i just don't think he's an "always start your studs" just yet.

how are the rest of you corey davis owners handling this matchup?

 
He's not getting enough targets to be start worthy ... Marcus was spreading the ball around....if he didnt catch the last min TD... He'd be typical C.Davis lame duck game

 
Corey Davis caught 2-of-3 targets for 21 yards in the Titans' Week 14 win over the Jaguars.

Davis had a tough matchup against the Jaguars secondary, but the real culprit was Derrick Henry's dominance. Henry's four touchdowns put the game away early, so there was no reason for Mariota to force passes to Davis. The Titans should be in a closer game and Davis' matchup will be easier next week against the Giants. Fire up Davis as an upside WR3, but he remains one of fantasy's most unpredictable players.

Anyone else think this could be a breakout week for Davis?

Giants O has been coming in strong and Barkley is going to carve them up, very likely. 

But Giants D hasn’t been great against the pass and Davis is a superior talent that cannot be covered without similar elite talent on the outside. 

Giants just don’t have anyone like that. 

If Titans are forced to pass, and I think they might be, this could very well be a big day for Davis. 

(prediction: 10 targets, 7 receptions, 96 yards, 2 TDs)

You know, this is the kind of thing that you realize is true, and hope changes, but when you go look at it you go WOW.

383 attempts on the season.   The ENTIRE season.  Leaders are at almost 600.  That's more than 50% again as many attempts.  Davis would extrapolate out to 88 catches, 1238 yards, and 6 TD - in 14 games if they threw as often as PIT.  And just to hammer that point home, JJSS has 95/1274/6.

Everyone always says: talent>>situation in dynasty. But when you look at rankings, people always conflate situation with talent. 

 
I guess but-

32nd in attempts the seahawks- 31 TDs

30th Dolphins- 24 TDs

29th the Saints- 31 TDs

So the three closest teams to the Titans in attempts averages 29TDs.

Perhaps the number of attempts not the issue?
