A solid WR1 without a good WR2 on the other side, probably puts Sutton at close to a 23% target rate. 33 pass attempts a game would put him at roughly 7.5 targets a game and 130 on the year. That alone will keep him around the top 20 in targets. Assuming he stays healthy all year.

Reports out of Broncos camp say Tim Patrick has looked good and is developing a connection with Nix.

Its a tough group to project. I think Mims and Franklin with get their deep shots. Josh Reynolds a consistent #3. We know year to year what we're going to get with him.

I think Patrick has talent, but he's being forced into that #2 role. He'll get looks but will never command them.

If we're projecting the Broncos to throw 560 times this year, I just see Sutton eating the largest portion of that pie. RBs might surprise with the amount of targets they get, and maybe Dulcich steps up, but that TE room is underwhelming as well.

What are your yards, receptions and TD projections for Sutton this season?

75/950/7 with some upside. I think he has a very safe floor this season.

I think we know who Sutton is at this point - big bodied receiver who can make some tough contested catches and a big play here and there, but not a consistent performer and he's not a spring chicken any more. I think there is opportunity for someone else to assume the top dog in that receiving crew - whether that's Franklin, Vele, Mims or someone else not yet on the roster, remains to be seen.

It was so weird. Especially when Lattimore was ruled out. At that point, you'd think Sean Payton would call a few specific plays for Sutton. Can't have your top guy getting literally no targets while everyone else eats at the table.

Sutton got $15+ million last year and that was money well spent. And he has one year left on his deal so the Broncos have some leverage there. I'm no expert but I'd say a two-year extension at $19-20mm/year could get done. There are a number of 29-32 year old WRs in that range.

I *think* that he didn't fight the team LAST season because of the strong 'hint' by the team that they'd take care of him.

I realize that he's "old" for a WR and you can't give him a big or long-term contract, but, as a fan, i'd like to see him get more. He's been good to and for the team.

He was slow to fully recover from his ACL tear, and dealt with a lot of bad QB play. Now he has great coaching and most likely the best QB he's had throwing him the ball. Last season was the best of his career, this season should be even better.

His snap count went from 95% in week 1 to 78% in week 2. Meanwhile, Franklin went from 59% to 93% and Bryant from 5 to 24%. Mims dropped from 53% to 36%.

Payton is usually always rotating guys, but I'm a bit concerned about this, if only because Sutton has always struck me as a #2 talent wise. I think he's still the guy to own in Denver, but the clear #1 status is what made him a top-25 WR, if he's not that, he's a WR3 for fantasy.

I thought Troy Franklin was probably the biggest steal at WR in last year's draft. For whatever reason, that whole Oregon offense (Irving, Powers-Johnson) fell further than they should have, other than Nix.

The late INT was a poor throw, but 22/30 for 206, no sacks, 3 TD's, 20 rush yards and a 111.2 passer rating is a strange definition of atrocious
