WR Darius Slayton, NYG (1 Viewer)

Looking like the guy to own now that Nabers is out. Performed pretty well in the 2 games that Nabers missed last season (14/179/1).
Pretty well is the verbiage I'd stick with.
He probably replaced Nabers to some degree but he's played a long time and we know he has a low ceiling.
My memory has a lot of 40-50 yard games and 2-3 nice ones. I can't imagine he can do better at this age

I bet they'd like nothing more than for Hyatt to bust a couple bombs and trade him the next day. He's really the looming presence as he hasn't done well and really should be replacing Nabers. With a staff rumored to be replaced for a year plus now, they don't need "a black eye" right in the public. Either call plays he can do or ship him out. The Browns when they were losing, the Jets, and Titans and...we all have seen a lot with these types. He doesn't need to be in the forefront if he's not good.

In the past, they threw a million short to mid passes. Wandale and the TE could have had a million catches. It was boring and forced and why wouldn't they change up! I just know this will rear it's ugly head.

Hopefully Dart plays his game. That's the key here. We don't want a formulaic yes coach guy making wimpy passes, we want to watch a guy play QB despite Nabers being out.

I hope I'm wrong but Wandale and Theo may be the ones to get here.

I feel bad because I've always complained the Gmen never appreciated Slayton each off-season and now I'm typing this. I just...he's older and that ceiling is looming too
I mean he's 28 let's not roll out the rocking chair just yet.

I hope so.
Sometimes he looks like he lost a step and he's often got little tweak muscle injuries on the injury report.
I really like the guy (edit) but he's never been more than a bye week filler for me

Would you still feel this way had Slayton not been held and caught that pass for a TD Sunday?

I'm not saying Slayton is Nabers, but I can see 4-5 catches for 55-70 yards a game with a TD here and there.

I think I've had him on at least two teams since he was a rookie. I don't think I've ever drafted him but bye weeks and injuries, I always go back to the well and "pretty good" is all I've gotten except once I think he blew up.

Career gamelog shows a few blow ups that I must not have had for FF but there's a whole lot of one and two catch games.

If you think on the Giants throughout his career, they have oh so often had plans for some other WR and needed him to step in. Dart is really the only new thing here.

I think people will get a pretty good WR with a spike game once or twice.

(If not for my odd habit of having him on my roster) that gamelog "tells" me that it could be pretty questionable to spend as much FAAB as some are saying elsewhere. He's done this before- stepped into the key role.

I think the WW bids are going to be too high for my liking (of course I picked him up last week in one league when McLaurin was out) and I'll be ok with that.

Bond...he's probably meh because that offense isn't doing well and he's a rookie.

Bourne is starting! He has for a couple weeks

Washington McCaffrey catches TDs and little else and idk that he's a well they keep going to.

Whatshisname Tampa returning from injury, was the three last year...eh I'll take a shot n see. Their old WRs sure remind us they're old.

I'm not feeling it this week. It's not the spend all your FAAB vibe for a RB or WR.

Marks is on rosters for me, but I'd have only done a pretty sizable bid.

I think we FF people have this passion and expectation for this to be the week but I don't think it is. Gut call for each of us

Normal week where Nabers is out maybe a 4-6 weeks, Slayton gets maybe a 5-10% bid. For teams that started 1-3, 0-4 with depleted WRs and byes starting, Slayton is going to get 30-40% of FAAB.

Go look at the 2 games he started last year with Nabers out. He put up around 17:points a game in those 2 games. That's worth more than 10% to me, especially if you need wr help, which is hard to find this time of year with waivers picked clean
Sure he did it with Jones and Winston at QB,but Jason has to throw to someone. He also has the arm to get him the ball down field.

I think you're nuts. Id be shocked if he goes for 10%
In deep leagues I am not sure 40% gets it done. I doubt there will be another player at this level the rest of the year available.

Where are people ranking him going forward? WR 30ish seems like a floor. He had 22 targets 12 catches nearly 200 yards and 1 TD in 2 games without Nabers last year. I don't think that can be expected, but 70% of that is a solid WR 2.

I'm expecting in the WR30 range but hoping for more if he can get a thing going with Dart.

I think either one of you could be right, or perhaps neither. Depends on the league and it’s not a robust waiver week.

Won the bid. Slight overpay but not by much.

I won for $311/1000. Next bid was $250. 7 other bids below that (from $0-225)

I won Slayton for $340, more than doubling the next highest bid, $152.

Not mad about it. It's a FBG Bowl league. 20-man rosters, start three WRs and two flexes. Deep draft by savvy owners. Everyone is rostered.

WR is the weak link in my roster, and I don't think many opportunities like this will come along later.

We roster 21 players. So I agree with you.
I added Slayton last week bc of Nabars shoulder issue,so dropped a rb for him. So I didn't have to bid on him.but he wld of gone for 250-300. I know my league mates of many years

Darius Slayton caught 3-of-6 targets for 31 yards in Week 5 against the Saints before leaving with a hamstring injury.

Slayton was going to be counted on in a big way with Malik Nabers (ACL) out for the season, and the veteran disappointed on Sunday. First, he dropped a potential 50-yard catch that hit him in the hands, and then he and Jaxson Dart were unable to connect on another 50-plus yard flea flicker that should have been an easy touchdown. Near the end of the first half, he made his biggest mistake, which was a fumble while trying to earn extra yards after the catch. The Giants were driving to extend their lead, but the Saints would then recover and score points of their own to take a lead they would not relinquish. With Slayton out, both Jalin Hyatt and Beaux Collins saw more work.

Yeah, it was a uncharacteristically bad game for Slayton.

If he can't go, Hyatt and Collins are terrible options, but I need to sniff them.

Rostered Hyatt going into the weekend, but that guy can't play football.

Any word on his hamstring injury? He spoke to reporters after the game so that usually suggests the injury is minor. Maybe his "hamstring injury" was more of a benching?

Depending on your roster, I think dropping him may be a mistake.
Again, are you dropping him if Dart connects on that TD two weeks ago and he grabs those two 50 yards last week?

Prolly not. His production is only part of the reason I'd personally drop. That hamstring is the other. Declaring him out already for this week usually translates into a handful of missed games and handful of getting back to speed games. Is that 4 weeks of roster spot cloggers? 6?

Agreed. This isn't Mike Evans we're waiting on, but a guy whose production outside of a handful of games (even before Nabors arrived) has been spotty at best. I doubt anyone would want to start him next week even if he returns, unless completely due to desperation. By then, there should be a new flavor of the week or perhaps a drop by a league mate.
