WR Deebo Samuel, WAS (2 Viewers)

I scooped him up off waivers but he will sit this week.  Starting McLaurin and CeeDee Lamb.  Heck, my flex will likely be Preston Williams ahead of Deebo.

I grabbed him as long term upgrade when their QB is back and he is 100% he leap frogs most of those.  Maybe all.

I own him and AJ Brown in most of my dynasty leagues. So I'm pretty desperate but I'm sitting him this week. Good news for him is the 49ers are another injury or 2 away from going into the dumpster so they could be passing more than expected.

I also own AJ and Deebo.  Got Deebo on waivers this week.  I drafted late for WRs this year with the intention of getting 3 3 down RBs and a QB.  Got AAron Jones, Mixon and Conner plus Dak as the core of the team.  Thoughts were you can more easily get lucky with WRs than RBs.  2-1 right now and if I can survive this week I should be set with Deebo, AJ, McLaurin and CeeDee.

Deebo didn't practice this week due to an illness.

From David Lombardi via Twitter

Likely that Deebo Samuel will play for the 49ers Sunday. He had a a non-Covid illness that forced him out too the building, per rules, but was feeling great and in team meetings via Zoom today. Samuel must pass one more virus test in order to return to the facility and play.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports 49ers WR Deebo Samuel (illness) is "good to go" for Week 5 against the Dolphins.

Samuel returned all negative results on his COVID-19 tests and hasn't had symptoms since Thursday when he missed practice. Whatever he was dealing with seems to have been a minor issue. Samuel saw three targets in his first game back from foot surgery last week but should see his role expand as he gets more games and practice reps under his belt. The Miami defense is among the five worst teams in passing yards allowed per game. Samuel projects as a solid flex option in the easy matchup.

Deebo Samuel caught 2-of-8 targets for 19 yards in the 49ers' Week 5 loss to the Dolphins, adding a three-yard rush.

Samuel's eight looks tied George Kittle for the team lead, though most of them were off-target from the awful duo of Jimmy Garoppolo and C.J. Beathard. Playing through an ankle injury, Jimmy G apparently wasn't at full health, and his confidence seemed to be lacking as a result. The eight targets are good news after Samuel drew only three in his 2020 debut last week, but that number is probably Samuel's ceiling for the time being. Nothing in the 49ers' offense feels settled. Samuel will offer a low Week 6 floor vs. the Rams.

Have to think he's a good buy low right now. Clear #1 WR(2nd option after Kittle), only getting healthier, and the defense has taken a major step backward.

Yup. Miami has quietly shut down several passing games. Better days ahead for all the reasons you mentioned.

Deebo Samuel caught six passes for 66 yards and a touchdown in the 49ers' Week 6 win over the Rams.

The 49ers got Samuel involved early, with a pair of catches for 41 yards and a score on the opening drive. Both catches were manufactured touches behind the line of scrimmage. Samuel wasn't needed with the 49ers protecting a lead in the second half, but he sealed the game with a third-down catch in the fourth quarter. Samuel is starting to get healthy after missing the first four weeks with a foot injury and playing through illness last week. He's likely to see a lot of Stephon Gilmore in coverage for a Week 7 matchup with the Patriots.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring) won't return in Week 7 against the Patriots.

Samuel came up gimpy after he was pushed out of bounds on a second half rushing attempt. He immediately grabbed his hamstring as medical staffers gathered around him. Samuel has served as a central part of the team's offense since coming back from injured reserve. Today against New England, he had eight touches for 75 yards while the 49ers effortlessly moved the ball downfield. Deebo missing time would be a fantasy plus for Brandon Aiyuk, who operates similarly to Samuel in the Niners' offense.

Coach Kyle Shanahan said Deebo Samuel (hamstring) will miss Week 8 against the Seahawks and likely Week 9 against the Packers.

Samuel came up hobbled in the second half Sunday against New England, and it sounds like a fairly significant strain if he's already ruled out this early in the week. Samuel missed the first three weeks of the season with his foot injury, so it's shaping up as a somewhat lost year for the sophomore. Through four games, he has 16-185-1 receiving on 22 targets in a slow-paced, run-heavy offense. Brandon Aiyuk and Kendrick Bourne will have to take on heightened roles behind George Kittle.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring) is out for Week 8 against the Seahawks.

This was a formality after Samuel missed practice all week and head coach Kyle Shanahan said the receiver would probably be out through Week 9 with the hamstring issue. Brandon Aiyuk and Kendrick Bourne should see a bump in touches in a mouth watering matchup this week. The two wideouts saw almost identical snap counts and Bourne led the team in targets when Samuel missed the season's first month. But last week against New England, Aiyuk had seven targets to Bourne's one.

Deebo Samuel (hamstring) has been declared out for Week 9 against the Packers.

Samuel was expected to miss Weeks 8 and 9 after going down in Week 7, but with the 49ers on bye in Week 11, Week 10 vs. the Saints is a strong possibility, too. With Jimmy Garoppolo (high-ankle sprain) headed to injured reserve, Brandon Aiyuk and Kendrick Bourne will function as Nick Mullens' top two wideouts against the Pack. In an ideal world, you would hold onto Samuel in your 10-12 team leagues, but with roster spots at an increasing premium as injuries mount and the fantasy playoffs draw closer, some managers may be forced to make "business decisions" with the talented second-year pro.

I am strongly considering dropping him in a 10 teamer redraft given many other injury and bye situations. I don't have a lot of confidence in Mullens being able to carry this O without Kittle.

I'm sitting pretty with 1 loss, so I'm holding him for now.  IF he comes back after the bye healthy, and they still have so many injuries at RB, I see Samuel being the funnel for a lot of this offense.  He turned it in the 2nd half of last year.  He could be a difference maker in the playoffs.

With that said, if I was .500, I'd probably cut him for a "need it now" guy.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring) remained sidelined for Wednesday's practice.

Last week, coach Kyle Shanahan suggested Samuel had a "chance" to return in Week 10. This is not a good start. Samuel has played in just four games this season after undergoing offseason surgery on his foot, dealing with this hamstring injury and landing on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Still, he leads in the NFL in average YAC and would be a massive boost if on the field this weekend against the Saints.

Deebo dynasty value check? I’ve been looking to shop him but based off of offers the value is all over the dang place. Just curious to see what people would take/give for picks bc ultimately I wanna deal him for picks since I have none in 2021. Thanks for any info. GL

I don't think I'd give him up for lessen than a top 5 pick.

That's not his value today or going forward into 2021 unless he balls out the way he did in 2019.  And that's not happening.

He's already considered a late-20s WR for dynasty purposes and I don't expect that to move upward as rookies are added into the mix.

Now is not the time to move Samuel. His value is at its lowest right now. Wait til he returns and plays a couple weeks. All he does is produce when he’s healthy.

This has been a lost season.  As soon as he shook the rust off from the foot (no easy injury to return from) he injured the hamstring.  I think he's probably where you rank him (late-20s), but has upside.  Now is not the time to sell.

Agreed. I sold in February when his value was ludicrous.

Deebo Samuel (hamstring) remained sidelined on Thursday.

Samuel supposedly had a "chance" at returning against the Saints, but that is not going to happen now. With Kendrick Bourne back on the COVID-19 list, the 49ers will be left with just Richie James and Trent Taylor behind Brandon Aiyuk.

For the Deebo owners would you deal him for Claypool if the CC owner would do it? I don’t use calculators only for entertainment purposes but they have Deebo much higher then Chase which surprised me.

Yes, I think I would.

Although, I traded Claypool for Golladay earlier this year and it wasn’t popular on this board.

Deebo Samuel (hamstring) won't play in Week 10 against the Saints.

Raheem Mostert, Tevin Coleman, and Samuel will all be out until the Niners return from its Week 11 bye. Brandon Aiyuk, Richie James, and Kendrick Bourne will man San Francisco's three-wide sets with River Cracraft (quad) and Trent Taylor (back) both questionable as reserves. Aiyuk is a confident WR2 in his first game back from being a close-contact in last week's absence.

When were those calculators last updated?

According to this ADP Samuel is 64 overall and Claypool is 113. So thats a pretty massive gap in value.

If you look at this ADP for Samuel 70th overall and this ADP for Claypool 49th overall so another gap but this time in Claypools favor. Also looking at the trend lines, the value of Samuel is trending down, while the value of Claypool is trending up.

I am a fan of Deebo Samuel but I think he was being ranked too high. I think Aiyuk ends up being the most valuable 49ers WR for their careers together there.

I think Samuel and Claypools actual value is likely in the same tier but Claypool has more upside than Samuel does to be more than a good WR 3 for fantasy.

DEEBO SAMUEL WR, SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

49ers declared WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring), CB Ahkello Witherspoon, CB K’Waun Williams (ankle), RB Tevin Coleman (knee), and LB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (hamstring) inactive for Week 10 against the Saints.

Samuel and George Kittle missing from the Niners' lineup should open up plenty of targets for Brandon Aiyuk and Kendrick Bourne against New Orleans. Richie James, following up on his Week 9 demolition of the Packers, should continue as part of the team's wide receiver rotation, profiling as a flex option in deep leagues with multiple flex spots.

Deebo Samuel (hamstring) will play in Week 12 against the Rams.

Shanahan initially said Samuel would be questionable but the team's injury report suggests otherwise. Raheem Mostert (foot) on the other hand remains questionable while Brandon Aiyuk (COVID) sounds unlikely to play. It's a touch-and-go situation for all of the Niners' skill players pending Sunday morning inactives. Samuel is still a WR3 in just his first game back from a soft tissue injury since Week 7.

No way of proving it, but I think his hamstring injury was caused by the bad foot. Over compensation after a rushed Jones return is common.

I bought him for a (good) vet lb earlier this month. I don't think his value should be any different now than when the injury first happened. The most likely scenario was always an injury filled season. Hopefully he doesn't get injured next summer.

Deebo Samuel caught 11-of-13 targets for 134 yards in San Francisco's Week 12 win over the Rams.

Samuel was clearly healthy in his return from a three-game absence, being featured in the open field and San Francisco's "Deadpool" packages that allow him to pick up speed with backfield tosses. He notably recorded back-to-back receptions (including a 24-yarder) on the team's final drive to help get Robbie Gould in position to sink the game-winning field goal as the clock ticked down, and shed double-digit tackles on a team- and career-high 13 targets without Brandon Aiyuk (COVID). Even if Aiyuk is activated for Week 13, Kyle Shanahan's usage of Samuel keeps the latter in play as a high-floor WR2/3 weekly. He'll be ranked as such in an uptempo affair against the Bills on Monday night.

Deebo Samuel (hamstring) was held out of Thursday's practice as a "precautionary measure."

That's according to ESPN's Nick Wagoner, who added "having Samuel healthy of the utmost importance for Niners right now." Coming off a dominant Week 12 performance in which he saw 13 targets against the Rams, Samuel is a plugged-in WR2 going forward as a George Kittle-less 49ers offense manufactures touches for the explosive wideout. His Friday practice status will prove important to his Week 13 availability against Buffalo.

49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said Deebo Samuel (hamstring) "isn't injured" and is "going to be good" for Week 13 against Buffalo.

Samuel's missed Thursday practice was a rest day. The 49ers don't want to risk a setback to Samuel, who's the centerpiece of the offense with George Kittle sidelined. Fantasy managers should plan on having Samuel for a Monday night matchup with Buffalo.
