Well there seemed to be some emotional attachment for him. If you’re taking it some other direction that’s on you.You accuse some one else of immaturity and then break out the “boyfriend” line?

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Deebo Samuel is "not expected to participate in any on-field work" during the 49ers' offseason program.
Samuel is rightfully pushing for a big payday as he enters the final year of his rookie contract. There's (almost) no scenario in which the Niners don't ink Samuel -- an invaluable rusher and pass catcher for the 49ers over the past couple seasons -- to a long-term deal before the summer. Surely head coach Kyle Shanahan knows his offense doesn't work without Samuel's unique skillset. Last week, Samuel scrubbed his social media accounts of any mention of the 49ers -- an increasingly common public-facing maneuver for players pushing for new deals. Samuel's 2022 cap number is $4.89 million, about the same as Broncos WR Tim Patrick and Jaguars WR Zay Jones. Expect that to be corrected in the coming weeks.

ESPN's Adam Schefter said Deebo Samuel "wants to move on" from the 49ers.
Schefter would go on to say the 49ers want to get a deal done but Samuel "has put a halt to everything for right now." Samuel pulled the 49ers' logo from his social media pages and is skipping San Francisco's voluntary offseason program. Entering the final year of his rookie deal, the star wideout and prolific part-time running back is looking to be the next player at his position to get a massive payday. Coming off a campaign that featured 1,770 yards from scrimmage and 14 scores, it's easy to see why he wants a new contract. Though Samuel may be disgruntled with his situation at the moment, the most likely outcome remains him suiting up for the 49ers in 2022.

With Waddle there, Deebo would make more sense for the offense - but obviously Hill should help the whole offense rise like he did in KC.This won't mean anything and we'll never know but I can't help but wonder if he's made available would Mike McDaniels have preferred Deebo over Hill?
Should the owners also have to honor the contracts as well - because until they do, I side with the players using whatever leverage they have to get paid. These guys have such short careers.I personally believe players should have to honor their contract they signed or not play. Just because they have a good year isn't cause for tearing up a contract and get a new one or cry and take their ball home. I know this goes against the grain, but that is how I feel. It causes a lot of harm to teams trying to manage their cap and still compete.
I speculated on the same thing but was thinking more along the lines of he likes getting the ball, even if it's as a RB, but understanding the longevity of that he wants a Tyreek type contract and like Veruca Salt he want's it now. I got to thinking something went sour with the initial negotiations, possibly even some talk of franchising him if need be next year, and he's either insulted and/or has zero interest playing out this year with tag hanging over his head next year.I'm purely speculating but I think he may be thinking about how being used as a RB is going to shorten his career and would rather play some place they use him purely as a WR.
He's been a strong "sell" imo his offseason - a large part of his fantasy appeal is the added rushing stats/TDs.
I agree, it's a two way street, but as far as I know they owners do honor their contract. Perhaps more guaranteed money and changing how the cap works. Just because he's on the last year of his rookie deal and had a good year, doesn't mean he should be able to demand anything until that contract is complete. If everyone who had a good year does this, it throws the league into chaos as far as the cap and player salaries go. It makes it harder for teams to compete if they are shelling out a hundred million dollar deal. Money they could be using to plug other holes.Should the owners also have to honor the contracts as well - because until they do, I side with the players using whatever leverage they have to get paid. They do? You haven't seen a player released while still under contract or forced into taking a pay cut? It happens hundreds of times each offseason.I agree, it's a two way street, but as far as I know they owners do honor their contract. Perhaps more guaranteed money and changing how the cap works.
I share this belief on second + contracts but not on rookie contracts. Those are not really agreed upon contracts, they are just slotted based on where they are drafted. And with things in place like franchise tags you can hold some of these players so long their age starts working against them when they finally hit UFA.I personally believe players should have to honor their contract they signed or not play
Wasn't the right to cut negotiated in the collective bargaining agreement? I must admit i don't know the particulars of the player's union agreement. Aren't teams stuck with the cap hit in most cases? They do? You haven't seen a player released while still under contract or forced into taking a pay cut? It happens hundreds of times each offseason.
If that is the case, then the player's union needs to work with the owners to change how rookie contracts work.I share this belief on second + contracts but not on rookie contracts. Get real man. If you are a player with millions on the line you are not waiting for your union to help you when you can take things into your own hands. If that is the case, then the player's union needs to work with the owners to change how rookie contracts work.
I agree for now, but the overall process needs to work better for both sides and that is done through the players union and the agreements they make with the owners.Get real man. My guess is because they use him as a RB, and he knows the shelf life and value of a RB is way less than a receiver. What’s wrong with how he’s used? That’s the reason he’s valuable.
Right, but any team trading for him would/should want to use him the same way. No?My guess is because they use him as a RB, and he knows the shelf life and value of a RB is way less than a receiver.
Douglas wasn't willing to include that pick in a trade offer for Hill so I don't see him doing it for Deebo.Send him to the Jets for a top 10. Take Wilson. Done and done.
Good point. Who knows - Deebo is 2 years younger and offers a significantly different skill set though.Douglas wasn't willing to include that pick in a trade offer for Hill so I don't see him doing it for Deebo.
Another team brought up in the Deebo chatter is the Jets, but for whatever reason, most of the focus I've heard is on Houston.

Well this is not a slam on Deebo, but Hill is >>> Deebo. I do think they may offer the same or similar package that they offered for Hill maybe.Good point. Who knows - Deebo is 2 years younger and offers a significantly different skill set though.
Right now? Sure. But Hill's game is based on speed, and we've all seen how speedy WRs age.Well this is not a slam on Deebo, but Hill is >>> Deebo. I do think they may offer the same or similar package that they offered for Hill maybe.
Not sold. No pick 10 for you.Right now? Sure. But Hill's game is based on speed, and we've all seen how speedy WRs age.
Like I said, Deebo offers a significantly different skill set - big, strong, can play at all levels of the field, and isn't as likely to fall off in the next few years. I think he'd be a great fit on the Jets.
Keep the pressure on him, HSG! He’s close to cracking. Not sold. No pick 10 for you.
If this deal goes down, the good Doctor will be buying. Deebo Jets jersey the next day.Keep the pressure on him, HSG! He’s close to cracking.
(Mention the connection to Saleh?)
I'm not saying I wouldn't want him - I'm saying it's unlikely Douglas gives pick 10. I would be ok with a similar offer that was accepted for Hill - but I would be less happy about the huge contract that will come with him.If this deal goes down, the good Doctor will be buying. Deebo Jets jersey the next day.![]()
I do think Deebo is a special talent, and the Jets need playmakers. It would be potentially bad news for Carter, as I’m reasonably sure the Jets would also run Deebo a fair amount. Hard to put that genie back in the bottle.I'm not saying I wouldn't want him - I'm saying it's unlikely Douglas gives pick 10. GB for example with Jones/Dillon wouldn't run him nearly as much as the 49ers did. He'd get some carries for sure but doubt he'd get anywhere close to 60.Right, but any team trading for him would/should want to use him the same way. No?
I think Deebo>Hill. He's younger and offers more RAC. Maybe its a minority opinion, but I think Hill is gonna miss Mahomes/Reid more than they miss him. Deebo made it happen with Jimmy G, its possible/likely that Zach Wilson(or whomever) will be better than that.Well this is not a slam on Deebo, but Hill is >>> Deebo. I do think they may offer the same or similar package that they offered for Hill maybe.
Somehow I am not surprised. You love contrarian views. You're probably a party of one on this one.I think Deebo>Hill.
if the players want more guaranteed money at teh lower end of th pay scale, they need to negotiate for it in the CBA.I agree for now, but the overall process needs to work better for both sides and that is done through the players union and the agreements they make with the owners.
I doubt its quite a party of one, but I'm sure its a minority opinion. I think its just I've always felt Hill was overrated. I'd take Adams over either of them.Somehow I am not surprised. You love contrarian views. You're probably a party of one on this one.![]()
I mean, its the right time to try if that's his plan, but yeah, its asking a lot for a guy who has missed almost 25% of his possible games.I thought I saw a week or two ago that Deebo wanted to be the highest paid non-QB in the league. A team will have to give up picks / assets and then tear up his contract to pay him like a QB. He hasn't exactly been the most durable player so far. Acquiring him looks like a risky proposition.
The Athletic's Connor Hughes reports the 49ers have "zero intention" of trading Deebo Samuel.
The same sentiment was later reported by Josina Anderson. With Samuel previously playing under Jets OC Mike LaFleur and New York desperate for another wide receiver, it would be the perfect landing spot for San Francisco's disgruntled receiver. For now, they will have to wait on acquiring Samuel as all signs point to the 49ers attempting to work something out with him. If San Francisco can't convince him to return over the next few days, they may cave to a massive offer for Samuel on the eve of the draft, which starts next Thursday. The Jets reportedly made an offer that included the No. 35 and 38 picks for Tyreek Hill before he was traded to Miami. A similar deal would be required for them to land Samuel.

Still no.Hot Sauce Guy said:#Jets GM Joe Douglas, asked about the possibility of a Deebo Samuel trade, says he can't get into specifics for a player not on their roster. But…
