WR DeSean Jackson (3 Viewers)

It's only a matter of time until a few Eagles fans sue Jackson for alimony. That usually follows a bitter breakup.
I expect this type of reaction from Eagle fans. I love it that they act like they have a problem with him now that he is on the Skins. They would be almost violent if people were talking about DJax like this is he was still a member of the Eagles. Eagles fans have zero loyalty to former players.
This is patently false.
How did they react to Santa? Violently?
Relevant AND good point :tebow:

What's up with the bitterness? Shouldn't you people be happy he's gone and leave it at that? Seems like that is some angry ex-girlfriend #### in here.

This is all the Skins fans have is free agency so they have to act this way. They won 3 games last year. DJax will have 1000 yds, probably 8 tds and the team will be 7-9 and they will say its "a win" for them. Thats the reality of the Dan Snyder Skins and how their fans act.

All we have? I remember a certain fan base going crazy over the "Dream Team". How'd that work out? And how many Super Bowls do the Eagles have?

The token "we have Superbowls in the 80's" response. Well played, I'm sure your parents enjoyed those and it makes up for how unbearable your team has been to watch for 25 years.

Worked out the same as it did when you guys tried cheating the salary cap.

I know, Eagles fans are terrible because they threw snowballs at Santa back in the 80's too. YOu guys make awesome arguments if we time warped back 30 years.

Yeah that nonexisting salary cap that year. And I'm pretty sure we won a division under that penalty...

Yeah when you were 9. Dan Snyder is a curse, your franchise is screwed until he sells.....which he wont because he makes a ton of money. I get why you all act like such tools, I would be pissed too.

Did Santa play for the Eagles? What position?

I'm not getting involved in what will inevitably be endless bickering, but it sure is funny how worked up Eagles fans get over a guy they publicly say they were glad to get rid of. Jason Avant didn't get this kind of discussion.

We did about as good as you guys did with the "Dream Team" and no penalties.

Funny that certain Philly fans have their panties in such a bunch in this thread.

Here's the bottom line(s).

The Eagles decided to cut a guy because, for a number of reasons, he was not in their long term plans and didn't want to pay him $10 mil plus. Good for them, maybe it works out.

The Skins added a player who provides sorely needed big play ability without giving up a draft pick and with a deal that includes a good amount of up front money but by all accounts is very manageable cap wise and allows them to get out without much harm after 2 seasons. Good for us. Hopefully it works out.

And D-Jax got a fair deal with a slightly reduced annual salary but a lot more up front money and it allows him to hit the FA market again as a 30 year old WR. Hopefully it works out for him too.

Eagles fans who don't like Jackson should be happy he's no longer on the team but taking parting shots at a guy who produced for your team at a relatively high level for 6 seasons comes across as petty. And the barbs at the Redskins organization and fan base are all well and good. But IMO they seem equally as petty and juvenile. You guys are having a gay old time bashing the Skins in this thread. And yes, we've been awful for the last 22 years. The Birds have been a much better run franchise over that time period but what do they have to show for it? The great thing about Super Bowl championships is that they are FOREVER. And every team in this division has enjoyed multiple championships while the Eagles have NONE. Just the facts. Gloat all you want that the Skins won 3 games last year and the Eagles won the division. But remember that things change quickly in the NFL as evidenced by the fact that the year before the Eagles won 4 games and the Skins won the division. And talk all you want about FA signings when your dream team efforts from just a few short seasons ago was an epic failure.

As a Skins fan I'm happy that an offense that desperately needed a big play dynamic just added one of the best big play guys in the league and who has been THE best in division big play WR since being in the NFL. He's not perfect by any means but he's 27 and didnt receive an exorbitant long term contract in contrast to our FA signings of the past which gave long term deals to guys on the downside of their career.

We'll see how it plays out when the season starts but some of you fans sure spend a lot of time talking about a guy who is no longer on your team. Why don't you start a new Maclin or Riley Cooper thread or something?

According to sources Eagles fans are preparing to sue DeSean Jackson for $6.5 million. That's the amount Jackson counts against their salary cap this year.

And don't be doubting "sources". After all they're the ones who supplied the nj.com article that was published a few hours before the Eagles cut Jackson.

Since the Eagles won't miss Jackson at all, I suppose they aren't looking at WR's in the draft.
Like trading a bunch of picks to move up to #2 to draft a QB and then drafting another QB a few rounds later?
So the talk in the ongoing Eagles thread about drafting 1 or 2 WR's is just a smokescreen, since the Eagles don't need one.
Yeah. Its a smokescreen on a message board. To fool other people on said message board.

They only have 6 WRs currently on the roster, last year they had 10 going into the offseason. Unless they are going to sign 4 free agents to fill out the roster, they'll probably draft a WR, maybe two. Last year they didn't need a TE, yet they drafted one in the second round. Not sure where exactly are you going with this? The Eagles have gone on record saying they will draft BPA.

i think there should be more cowboys fans reading this thread

watching skins and birds fans bash each other is fun

They will definitely draft one and hope who they draft doesn't turn out to be the POS Jackson was.

It's pretty likely they will draft a receiver early. Anytime you lose a guy that had over 1000 yards, you need to fill in the gap.

Cooper is not a legit #1

Avant was not re-signed.

Maclin is unproven after the injury.

D. Johnson has been no factor.

Does anyone seriously think they are going to September only with these guys??

That that they re-signed Maclin and released DeSean tells me they aren't worried about Maclin.

I do think they should draft Paul Richardson to replace DeSean but I don't think they have a major need at WR.

Eh, I think the Jackson signing had nothing to do with Maclin. If the reports are true about Desean being insubordinate and about him clashing with Chip, then I think the Eagles make that decision regardless.

My point is that they need a receiver in that can play outside in case Maclin isn't ready. You really don't know for sure about Maclin until they start playing real football.

I think you are probably right with the 1st 2 rounds being DB and WR not sure what order.

Of course they won't. I was just poking fun at some Eagle fans saying Jackson didn't need to be replaced, or was easy to replace, which are foolish things to say with those guys you listed remaining as the WR's for the team.

BTW today was the first time I've heard the Jason Avant song, and it's awesome.

I suspect they like their WR's a little bigger, so yea, I'd expect them to draft one.

Beckham, Lee, Cooks. One of them should be picked at 22 unless Clinton-Dix, Pryor, or Barr happen to drop (or Adams but no way that happens).

Time for more Eagles fans to sound bitter. Even though this isnt news and was pretty known, Rotoworld just posted it.

CBS Philadelphia reports DeSean Jackson skipped his end-of-season exit interview with Eagles coach Chip Kelly.

Per reporter Joseph Santoliquito, Jackson was "possibly the only Eagle" to skip his interview. It would be a highly-unusual move, one certain to rankle management. It's never a good look for a team to smear a player on his way out the door, but it's pretty clear things had become untenable between Philly and D-Jax. Both sides needed a change.

True. Guess not every team is lead by Mike Shanahan.

It didnt just come out, I forget where I saw it but in an article talking about his interview with SAS called him out for saying he missed one meeting when they say his exit interview was a meeting so he missed two.

In his interview to "set the record straight" he claims to have missed only 1 meeting during his time in Philly. We know that's a lie. I posted an article that listed several of his inaccuracies during that interview.

I think everyone knows DJax wasn't an angel in Philly. It's just funny that all of these stories are coming out now after he's gone.
From the story:

Jackson topped off his career-breaking season by blowing off Kelly for his exit interview, possibly the only Eagle to do so, according to several sources.
Unnamed sources, story in a Philly news outlet, trashing Jackson. Gee, where do we think the story came from?

The Eagle obsession with Jackson is starting to look at lot like a stalker ex-husband or ex-wife.

Man I can't wait for the draft. There's really nothing to talk about.
The week leading up to the draft is pretty good too, at least on this board. Every team and every agent floats misinformation out there for their own advantage. All of it gets talked about here and almost none of it works out to be true. Good times.

One of the best posts I've ever seen in over a decade at FBGs.

Good to see VaTerp's contributions to the SP again.

Bravo.
