WR DeVonta Smith, PHI (1 Viewer)

he will be on a lot of my teams next year.....I probably undervalued him and Hurts a little too much heading into this year....

DeVonta Smith caught 7-of-8 targets for 77 yards in the Eagles' Week 5 win over the Panthers.

Smith added a two-point conversion reception that gave the Eagles a field goal lead late in the game. With Hurts struggling as a passer and soaking up all of Philly's scores with his legs, it was destined to be a quiet game for Smith. The good news is that he remains the top receiving option in Philadelphia by a wide margin. He led the Eagles in all receiving categories again this week and only Zach Ertz topped even five targets. The Eagles have a juicy matchup with the Bucs next week. Tampa Bay has locked down running backs while getting gashed by passers this year. If the potential shootout lives up to the hype, Smith should be in line for a considerable bounceback.

As a guy who just traded for him in my dynasty before games today, I gotta say...

Also...Hurts looks pretty good! You can there's a connection there.

DeVonta Smith (elbow) was upgraded to "full" for Thursday's practice.

Smith's Week 10 status was never in doubt. Now we know for absolute certain he will be out there vs. the Broncos. It's not a great matchup, while Smith has not been a picture of consistency with erratic quarterback Jalen Hurts under center, but the No. 10 overall pick's upside keeps him in the low-end WR2 mix.

DeVonta Smith caught 4-of-6 targets for 66 yards and two touchdowns in Philadelphia's Week 10 win over the Broncos.

All four of Smith's catches came in the first half as the rookie, turning 23 on Sunday, beat Patrick Surtain on a 50/50 ball to his back shoulder for his first touchdown then broke free in the end zone late in the first half for a second score from five yards out. Smith also bailed Jalen Hurts out at one point in the second half with a pass breakup that would have otherwise resulted in an interception. Although his usage is finally resulting in fantasy points in back-to-back games, Smith will be tasked with his toughest challenge of the year against Saints CB Marshon Lattimore in Week 11.

Eagles-Browns joint practice recap: DeVonta Smith, A.J. Brown shine; 2 young players hinder Deshaun Watson; veteran corner out

...Wide receivers DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown take advantage of injured Browns secondary
The Browns are dealing with some secondary issues, with starting cornerback Denzel Ward playing sparingly as he comes back from a foot injury that landed him on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list before camp began and Greg Newsome also working on returning from an injury.
Their absence allowed Brown and Smith to find ways to get open, using their detailed route-running ability to set up defensive backs to go one way, leading to separation on the outside.

Devonta Smith & Jalen Hurts back to ballin! Video & Reports from Eagles/Browns Joint Practice Day 1

I have concerns. I didn't realize AJ Brown and Jalen Hurts were best friends. Too small, run first team, not enough targets.

Can win without him. Panic selling to get what I can while I still can. I don't want a deep threat boom bust at my WR3 position. I need studs, ********it.

Devonta Smith did not catch any of his four targets in the Eagles' Week 1 win over the Lions.

Smith got two targets on the Eagles first drive, but it didn't take long for onlookers to realize who the alpha in Philadelphia is. A.J. Brown dominated targets for the remainder of the game, ending the day with 13 looks from Jalen Hurts. He caught 10 of them for 155 yards. Smith played well as a rookie but appears to be stuck in a No. 2 role on the Eagles. With how run-heavy the Eagles want to be, it's hard to rely on Smith as a consistent fantasy option. He will look to rebound in Week 2 against the Vikings.

DeVonta Smith caught 7-of-7 targets for 80 yards in the Eagles' Week 2 win over the Vikings.

It was really nice to see Smith bounce back from zero-ball in Week 1 when he failed to catch any of his four targets. Smith was working the middle of the field and racking up chunk gains in the middle of the Vikings' zone. With Jalen Hurts throwing for 333 yards, four different Eagles produced 69-plus yards. Smith's seven targets were second on the team to A.J. Brown's eight, and his 80 yards were two behind Dallas Goedert for the team lead. Smith is going to be boom-or-bust-y much of the year but gets another plus Week 3 draw with the Commanders.

DeVonta Smith caught 8-of-12 targets for 169 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles' Week 3 win against the Commanders.

Quiet in the season opener, Smith had a solid Week 2 (seven catches for 80 yards) and was Jalen Hurts' primary target against Washington this week. He functioned as the team's main downfield threat, coming down with a trio of downfield shots from Hurts, including a 45-yard first half catch that would have been overturned by replay had the Commanders challenged it in time. Smith exploited single coverage time and again while Washington's secondary focused on A.J. Brown, who caught five of ten targets for 85 yards and a score. Philadelphia's highly-concentrated target tree could make the Eagles highly predictable for fantasy managers going forward. Smith will be a high-end WR3 in Week 4 against the Jaguars.

Monster game from a good player with a great opportunity in a great offense.

As long as Brown is on the other side of the field, Smith should eat.

DeVonta Smith (back) was limited in Wednesday's practice.

Smith is likely sore from putting the team on his back in Week 3. The second-year wideout torched the Commanders for 169 yards and a touchdown on eight receptions. Philly's passing attack is running on all cylinders, allowing everyone a chance to shine. That could mean A.J. Brown is the one to blow up in Week 4, but fantasy managers should not shy away from treating Smith as a volatile WR2 this week.

I’m so happy I was able to trade this away dude 2 weeks ago. I thought I was gonna get stuck with him. Whew.
Imagine being this guy. 😂 Guess we're stuck with a guy who's gone 15 of 19 for 249 yds and a TD over last 2 games. Poor us
I this guy. I don’t have to imagine it. I’m glad I traded him. He’s had a couple good weeks. Now he’ll disappear for a month.

It’s what he do.

Likely to be boom/bust all year long but also likely to finish top 25 or so for fantasy points
Don't get this thinking. Eagles are the offensive juggernaut of the NFC this year. Everybody (at least the top 3 fantasy options: Hurts/AJB/Smith) has more than enough room to eat consistently.

Whatever helps you sleep at night with your pennies on the dollar trade 👍

Slim gonna finish Top 20 this year.

It wasn’t a pennies on the dollar trade. I like the return I got at the time and I’m still ok with it.

With a top 5 TE and a top 5 WR across from him, plus what I expect to be a solid running game....yeah, I do think Devonta will throw a couple more stinkers out there. And top 25 was my prediction....not exactly predicting flex status, just saying stud production week in and out is unlikely

I was prepared and everything. 🥹

Of course I started him for the first time this week, after finally benching DJ Moore. Can’t buy any points in my second WR spot. Think you just need to keep him in EVERY week and he will reward a good few times, liable to keep missing the big weeks if he’s in and out the lineup

Yep. The Eagles didn't try to pass much because of the weather. (Which won them the game, because the Jags kept trying to pass and turned the ball over 5 times.) This was not the day to expect big numbers from Smith.

DeVonta Smith caught all five targets for 44 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles' Week 6 win over the Cowboys.

Smith was off to a modest 4/37 line before making his only target of the second half count, saving his fantasy day with a touchdown on a solid adjustment to a ball thrown behind him in the center of the end zone. That's now four of six games with seven or fewer targets for Smith, who is going to need to see more consistent volume before fantasy managers can count on him for more than flex duties. Smith and the Eagles head to their bye week before welcoming a Steelers defense surrendering the most PPR fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers through six weeks.

DeVonta Smith caught 6-of-8 targets for 39 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles' Week 11 loss to the Commanders.

Smith scored after shaking off a would-be tackler a few yards from the goal line following an impressive route. For the second year in a row, Smith found the end zone on his birthday. He briefly exited the game with what appeared to be a hand injury but ultimately returned after a short stay in the medical tent. The issue didn't seem to affect him during the remainder of the contest. With A.J. Brown playing through a lower-body injury, Smith stepped up to log a team-high in targets. His eight looks were good for a 32 percent target share. Smith will sit on the WR2/3 border for his Week 11 game against the Colts.

He was a guy I wanted to buy this previous off-season. He's been solid. Hoping he can take a huge step forward next year.
