WR Elic Ayomanor, TEN (1 Viewer)

So is he a "emerge in the 2nd half" kind of guy or it takes an injury kind of guy?

Unless you are Ridley (Ward's security blanket); or

Ward in 2QB (talent + opportunity + leash),

Every/anyone in this offense is more than likely 'emerge in 2nd half' at best.

All good. They are rebuilding. No disrespect. Quite the opposite, actually.

Yesterday, Titans reporters were debating how ready the rookies are. They didn't sound confident in Elic- which is a negative change and nothing has happened but closed practice.

One thing that stuck with me was their discussion of why the Titans have put the word out that they're looking for a WR? Many suggestions thrown about just guessing at things. We can guess here just the same. I just...it does give me pause. Why did they?

"4th round rookie should need a year to adjust and develop."

Not sure if just a producer's idea for talk. Just...it was very hmmm. I've been somewhat sick of the same thing and anxious for games now so it suited me to hear a different discussion.

This morning I noticed some negativity in my timeline of articles. That IS how it usually goes when ya need an idea.

Grain of salt, you'll see some negativity today and literally nothing happened to change opinions

TURRON DAVENPORT
Cam Ward said Elic Ayomanor is going to end of being one of the best route runners as he advances in his career.
Appreciate you Faust. Just want to say again, Ward is beyond ridiculous with praise for his WRs. I have no doubt he'd say yes if you asked him if Prosche is the best WR in the NFL. It's like he was trained to in a public speaking class. His top ten WRs in the NFL included like 6 Titans WRs.

Elic ain't there yet. I've mentioned he's got spacing issues and held up at the line and he's also got this wicked step that's like an Allen Iverson crossover it's so sharp and sudden. I don't doubt the promise but when the WR coach and former WR radio hosts start pointing out things he needs to work on, it just becomes obvious he's a learning rookie.

He's a big lean guy that plays even bigger. He's got some Plaxico to him. That would be my comparison. He makes long arm catches and ya think he's taller than he is.

Anyway, if y'all need someone for comparison I think Plaxico

I've gotten a bunch of flack for this.

Well I don't think people remember Plax other than TD catches so 😛

Nonetheless he's got that odd long reach that catches your eye

2 catches on 7 targets for 13 yards.
He had one that he went up high for and came down on his back and his elbow hit first and....why didn't we challenge that? After the game when the coach explained, he had the rule wrong and several reporters pasted the rule on X. This will count as a drop since it was in his hands. I couldn't be happier with the effort on this pass tho.

He got hung up a good amount at the LOS early and then again and....I didn't notice it after. I assume it clicked.

Little shy on a few routes. Broncos are gonna bump and slap and anything legal then he's gotta man up every play.

Looks promising still. I just thought he still looked like a guy that'll take over midseason. They're kinda rushing him and there needs to be a standard for production. Cam has to have X amount from that position.

He didn't do his Allen Iverson side step so he wasn't totally comfy but he did good. We saw speed and length and used his bod when he needed to box out.

Between the linemen injuries and Cam, I didn't see the camera on him much blocking. Since Jefferson came in and blocked, maybe there was an issue, maybe. No one has written of it so I assume he was fine there too.

He was surprised he was the starter and surprised he played so much. I just don't like it. Every coach preaches this earning bit and work hard and whatever else.

Unsure what week two will bring since coach was hypocritical but the kid looked fine. I'd call it 3 catches for 50 yards.

"Riley Moss is beatable Surtain is not" IDK them well enough to do more than regurgitate that quote. If we don't gift the out of bounds play 2 catches for 13 yards isn't enough. I just think midseason replacement and for now he plays a good amount with coaching up in between

It's been fun to be on national media's radar. Titans almost never are.

I think it's mutually agreeable from the zillion that discussed Cam yesterday that Elic is an intriguing rookie but he's not quite ready.

It's so debatable how Callahan will adjust after week one to save his job. Just about anything is reasonable.

Ya gotta note that Callahan was apologetic on Monday and said how he should have done things they did in summer. Yesterday the OC consistently said everything is great everything is fine. The chat was funny with memes of burning dumpsters and such. That aside, what makes the OC do that? I guess Callahan got "a talking to" on Monday. If you agree with my guess- change is definitely going to be in the air to save his job.

My head goes to "how would a random other coach use Elic?"

I think he's still a big part but he's gotta be used a bit less. He's gotta be subbed for and coached up. Ya can't force Cam to have a 2 catch 7 targets 13 yards starter/Lions share of snaps.

I don't think he's the elite (like Marvin Harrison Jr) type rookie that will play a zillion snaps and just wait til it clicks. He was a fourth rounder.

This seems high to me.
You can take this as hope for FF or a negative and they better sub someone in. It kinda works both ways

Fantasy Pros has his air yards at 129. If PFF's are unrealized and they're not the receivers fault that means it's on the quarterback or the coverage. Ayomanor made a catch on a deeper ball that Callahan didn't challenge even though his elbow was in, right? So there are some of the unrealized air yards accounted for.

Generally, unrealized air yards don't bite the player. What eventually can bite the player are when the fantasy guys use tracking data and regressions to give you expected fantasy points and you're consistently under your expectation. It can mean you're inefficient with your chances and that inefficiency is tied to your individual performance.

Some national radio quotes-

"they're going to have to engineer some offense. It's not really change since week one was new. It's a lot easier to do that with the outside WR than in the slot"

"Callahan probably wants to phase out the TE but he can't until he creates something over the middle. I don't care who you are or even how successful you are at it- you must attack the middle. The rookie needs to run some crossers"

"Do the Titans have a big slot? Can Elic play that? Chig did fine for the job he was given but with no over the middle passing game, the Broncos were able to double up both outside receivers. I think Elic can win one on one and that's why he's starting but he's not beating double coverage. No one on the Titans is."
