WR Isaac TeSlaa, DET (1 Viewer)

He is 6'4" with a 40 inch vert. He is good in contested catches. Thors comp is Alec Pierce. Obviously you need a deep dynasty roster if you want to stash him.

Was reviewing some of the scouting reports regarding TeSlaa and started thinking about Kirk Gibson. As a Michigan State grad and a Lions fan I was disappointed that Gibson didn’t play in the NFLand wondered what he would have become.
That he ended up being drafted and playing baseball for the Detroit Tigers did work out and got to see him play well and win a World Series championship while in Detroit.
Getting back to TeSlaa he has some of the attributes that Gibson had in relation to height, weight, athleticism and physicality and is also fast though not nearly as fast as Gibson. Both were very explosive with very high ypc stats. TeSlaa also is a product of a Michigan high school like Gibson.
What TeSlaa lacks is Gibson’s experience and production as a WR. Possibly due in part to TeSlaa being converted from Quarterback to WR in college.

With this nod to Kirk Gibson hoping to see if there is a possibility that TeSlaa gives us a clue of what Kirk Gibson’s football career may have looked like.

He went at 2.09 in my rookie draft. I’m a huge Lions fan and was considering him at 2.10 (I own ARSB too).
My league mate (and good friend) sent me a text a text that said - the Lions gave up a ton for him, and I figured you’d take him with your pick and I wouldn’t get him at 3.09

I wouldn’t like it if I was that predictable. Look at the bright side, he reached.

That's shocking honestly...we are in the 4th round of my expert league and he is still sitting there

I love fantasy football. But it’s really just fun for me. I love the Lions more.
I’m totally good with my league mates of 30 years knowing that I love me some Lions players.

Yeah he was a late 3rd in both my 16 team leagues.

As an update we have a 5 round draft and he went undrafted - 10 team so not far off from your 16 team leagues

80-90% chance he is in the Jeff Janis, Robert Davis, Chase Claypool, Andrei Iosivas range, but there is still that small-percentage chance TeSlaa is more D.K. Metcalf, underutilized in college but destined for a better pro than college career. Once you get to late Round 3, Round 4 of your rookie drafts, why not take a swing for the fences rather than picking up a ho-hum roster clogger depth piece? In this Draft cycle, I see 3 similar receivers, Isaac TeSalaa, Elic Ayomanor and Savion Williams, all size-speed developmental prospects. I'm not sure any of them develop into reliable fantasy starters, but I am happy to roster one at the right price.

3 FFPC Best Ball Rookie Drafts and took him in all three. $77 pick 5.5, $250 pick 5.5 and my $750 Orphan pickup this offseason at 6.3.....Lions made a big jump up in the draft for the kid. Maybe not this year but feeling good about 26. Especially if they let Jameson Williams walk anytime soon.

In my FFPC rookie drafts he went:

1QB - 4.10
SuperFlex - 4.10, 5.12, 6.03
TriFlex - 4.09, 5.07 (me)

In the league where he went 4.09, I later moved Ayomanor (3.10) and Tory Horton (6.05) for TeSlaa and Woody Marks (4.02) - that is the one that originally included Kincaid coming my way but was protested and vetoed.

That seems like a mistake. I’d definitely take a flier on him. Just not in the 2nd.

Late 3rd in both of your 16 teams leagues is 48 picks. He didn't go drafted in my 50 pick league (10 team). Pretty spot on average
Ah, I didn’t know it was. 10-team league. That makes more sense then. In that small a format, 50 picks I get it.

I checked again, he went 3.06 in one (38) and 3.12 in the other (pick 44)

In my 12-teamer he went 4.09 (45). I passed on him at 42 only because I had Guerendo and pairing James with him seemed like a smart investment since I’m a little light on RB.

So theoretically he should have gone in a 10 team league. I’d certainly add him off waivers for free if you have the room.

@32BeatWriters
“TeSlaa is arguably the most intriguing player on the Lions’ roster, considering the draft capital the Lions parted with to acquire him. At 6-foot-4 with 4.4 speed and the ability to make contest catches, he’s a ball of clay with endless potential. The Lions are betting on that — and their own infrastructure — moving forward. TeSlaa was a wing-T QB in high school who went the D-II route as he switched to receiver, and was so good he landed in the SEC. He must gain experience beating physical corners in press-man and expanding his route tree, but he’s got the goods, the athleticism, the talent and the coaching to reach his potential.”
