WR Jahan Dotson, PHI (1 Viewer)

Why do people think this guy is so good? I realize he was a great college player but I don’t the obsession w this guy.

His stats when healthy last year and his grading over at Reception Perception are keeping his reputation afloat. Plus, the Commanders utterly dysfunctional offensive system for the past two years helps to not ding Dotson as a player.

I never liked him in the first round of the NFL draft (and a lot of other fantasy players didn't also), but that was a size/speed concern. He seems, according to reports, to always be open and just not getting the football, so I might have been wrong about that.

Dude is tiny. I don’t even know how he survives out there. Even guys in my work league seem to like him. I had to put my foot down and boot him from a team I co manage.

Anyhow, thank you for the explanation. Will take a look at his stats last year.

Tyreek Hill is 5'10 185. Dotson is 5'11 182. Yeah, different players, but players like this can thrive inside and outside. He's not Tank Dell size. The Commanders just suck. Underutilizing heavy contract players like McLaurin and high draft capital like Dotson is just beyond stupid. If Dotson is bad, it would be news to me. The metrics are all good from last year.

the commanders offense is not good. they have nice pieces and I think a good scheme to get the ball downfield. but the OL stinks making it impossible to execute anything.

I own him everywhere...unreal that he's the 6th option on offense behind Terry, Samuel, Robinson, Gibson, Thomas, and maybe even Dyami Brown (who drops passes every single game) :wall: He's finally on my bench until I see 2 weeks in a row where he's actually part of the offense.

Got him last year in a devy league with a package centered around Ridley before we saw him and after Ridley was suspended. Thought I got away with robbery until this year.

Just dealt Dotson + Devy QB Cam Ward for Devy QB JJ McCarthy. Hope those of you still along for the ride benefit now but I finally pulled the ripcord vs. waiting too long.

Just dropped in one of my leagues.

Mortal lock he finally wakes up this week. He seems like the regretful drop of the week guy for many. That said, no interest in him until it's probably too late.

Holding through this week. Two of his better games last year were against the Giants.
You are not the only one holding. Not sure what to make of video of Dotson working with special teams as holder for kicks. That job always goes to a QB or punter.

Incoming fake FG for a ten yard loss and/or a fumble. Thought getting a goose egg from Dotson was bad? How about negative points?

Wire is thin, may have to flex him this week
Same. Holding Dotson and Mims for the foreseeable future, with not much on the wire, and may have to play one this weekend.

For Dotson, I absolutely understand cutting, but in deeper leagues, there aren't a lot of guys with his talent that are on the field as much as he is on the wire.

Bienemy had a press conference today where he mentioned at least twice that the WRs needed to be more physical using their hands to get separation off the ball. He did not single out Dotson, but one might think the comment was about him since he's the one not getting snaps/targets.

Is it time to press the panic button on Jahan Dotson? I looked at the tape & noticed some things.

*watches every Week 6 snap*

... proceeds to stare at the wall for 5 minutes

remembers I made this post a little over a month ago...

 goes to YouTube and listens to this on repeat for 20 minutes
Man did I bail on this guy at the absolute last good minute in dynasty. That was so lucky.

Another quiet outing

Dotson caught five of eight targets for 43 yards in a 14-7 loss to the Giants on Sunday.

Advice: It was better than his one-target, zero-catch outing the week before and technically represents a season-high for yardage, but Dotson still hasn't reached 50 yards in a game this season or done much of anything to help fantasy managers. He ran a team-high 42 routes, suggesting his starting job is still safe, but the big plays from last year (14.9 YPR, seven TDs in 12 games) have completely dried up. Dotson gets a home game against the Eagles in Week 8, facing veteran cornerbacks Darius Slay and James Bradberry.

Sad that this is one of the best games of his season.

Dropping Dotson for Darrell Couch Cushions Henderson is the real heartbreaker transaction of the year for me. Dropping a guy you know might fuel somebody else’s run if the coaches make him a true 1B. I’m not sure about this one.

I dropped him last week. The FF regular season is half over and I need wins now.

Picked him up off ww in dynasty as a stash. He’s 23, first round talent who flashed his rookie season. Terry will be 29 and Curtis will be 28. I can be patient.

Signs of life.

Pure speculation but my thought as a Skins fan is he was the guy complaining about Bienemy being too harsh back in training camp. Thought for sure it was Gibson at the time, but it would explain why he’s been a ghost.

There’s nothing wrong with him as a player. He can play. Just think he got stuck in a doghouse.

Hope it lasts.

I worked a trade for Diontae a couple weeks ago and was trying to come up with something at the same time to land Dotson from a different owner but I couldn’t get myself to pull the trigger on an offer. Kicking myself now as I’ve always been a believer in this guys talent.

ETA: a WR needy dynasty squad
