WR Jaylen Waddle, MIA (1 Viewer)

when I look at Waddle and where he's going in drafts he seems like one of the safest picks as he's basically being drafted at his floor. If you prorate his numbers for last year over the 17 game season it equates to 239 pts which ranks around 16th and his wr ADP seems to be around 18/19. He's on one of the highest powered offenses in the league, has no real competition from a #3 target and if he scores a couple more TDs he could climb into the top 12-15 range. If Hill gets hurt he's probably easily a top 10 player. He's one of the the wr's I'm targeting him in all drafts.

He is becoming a great value where he has fallen.

He has been banged up as mentioned above and hopefully he can start doing a better job off taking care of his body.

Injuries happen...if it's a chronic issue that's one thing but it's the NFL and everyone gets injured. If we're talking Toney, Watson that's one thing but I'm not good enough to predict who will get injured and for long so I roll those dice and hope for the best but always build a solid bench for when injuries do happen.

He's played in 47 of 51 games and has three consecutive 1,000 yard seasons to start his career.

Kid can play.

I'm the biggest Waddle fan as you can probably tell by my Avy. Having said that, as MOP pointed out, he gets dinged up in the games and heads to the sidelines probably more than he should.

No doubt this guy has crazy talent and a good connection with Tua going back to college. Tua also looks for him in the Red Zone which is great to see. Waddle has had some clutch/game winning TDs in his career.

I just wish he wasn't as banged up as he has been the past 2 years.

Waddle was one of the most frustrating fantasy players I have ever owned last year. Love the talent but the constant showing up on injury reports, leaving to go to the sidelines, etc. got so old so quick.

I won't be targeting him aggressively but could see myself falling into another trap for him.

Jesse Morse, MD
Jaylen Waddle was in a non-contact jersey and a compression sleeve on his left calf.

Sounds like we finally found the source of his soft tissue injury.

Likely a grade 1 or 2 left calf strain.

I’m not super concerned yet.

no doubt after season ended i was committed to trading him, didn't really get what i wanted and then started seeing a lot of positive buzz so ended up holding. Every time i see news about him i cross my fingers that it's not an injury.

Huge Waddle fan as well but he was a real headache to own last year. Have not grabbed any shares of him in my local leagues this year

Felt like he was one of the better values this year if you went RB early. He fell to me early in the 5th round in one draft.
EDIT for the guy who goes bonkers when you don’t list what numeric value in the draft he was: WR24

It happens…he’s at a big discount because a lot of people feel like you. He’s in one of the best situations…top offense with crazy high ceiling and no real competition from TE or 3rd wr. If he can break a couple more tds he’s top 10.

ditto if tyreek misses any time due to injury

Good point. If hill goes down he can be top 5

cant count on that. so far Hill has been reasonably durable. one of the reasons hes a top ff pick

Not only that, but it seems like every time I watch a Miami game there’s always at least 1 catch & tackle where Waddle stays down a little longer than he should, gets up & walks gingerly off the field.

So far he seems to bounce back quickly, but he’s one of those dudes you hold your breath over multiple times a game.

I wish people would be clear when using the out word. Jesus, do I need to switch to that game and hope to find out more?

You clearly aren't used to having him on your team. Half the posts in this thread last year are about him getting dinged every play.

Tua is expected to return week 8. Thoughts on Waddle once Tua returns for the rest of the season?
buy low and I mean real low...like Waddle is toast for the season but a small chance Tua actually does play and plays well and plays for the rest of the year.

What would you trade for that? Zack Moss?

If Tua returns, Waddle will be useable again. Right now, he isnt. I was offered Waddle for a 2nd in dynasty and turned him down.
You cannot feel good about the QB situation in MIA, not today, next month or next year.

You were offered Waddle for a 2nd and declined? Huh?

Small chance? Adam Schefter reported last night that Tua is expected to return week 8.

Schefter reported last night that Tua is expected to return week 8. So I traded Courtland Sutton for Waddle last night.

What the heck, you didn't give a 2nd for Waddle? This is a guy who set the rookie reception record and has finished as the WR 8 and WR 13 overall in back to back seasons.

Buy low, even for later this year or next. Oh man.

2nd for Waddle and Sutton for Waddle.

I need to start sending out more trade offers if that is where things are at.

Already traded him in every league but one. In dynasty I may regret that years down the road, but I'm trying to win now. I always do, but I also try to keep a good balance of today and tomorrow.

FYI - Waddle was 5-109 in game one with Tua.

Fun fact for comparison, in half PPR scoring Waddle has 9 - 20+ pt games in his career. Olave has zero. Yes I know Waddle has an extra year but it is something to think about.

I don't blame you if you need points now. It has crossed my mind. But in other leagues if you aren't contending Waddle is a great buy target.

Is Waddle a great buy target, even if you aren't contending? It seems to me he hasn't been a plug and play guy, even in the best of situations. Seems to me he disappears too much, but I could be wrong and don't want to go look up the stats.

Injuries last year, Tua this year.

I believe in the talent. And if/when the QB situation gets sorted, I think you can definitely profit here.

Perhaps, but there has been more to Waddle's missing in action games than injuries and Tua. That I do know.

i am happy I didnt. He is useless for 2024 and who knows how long after.
Still have the 2nd rd pick to trade for something I can use to win the league again. I might need a RB.

Good luck with that, but sometimes I think people toss around their draft picks like they are pennies in their pocket. When it doesn't work out they end up old and no picks, then leave the league and the commish has to find a replacement for the old and no picks team. Not saying you are like this, but your statement made me think of it. As a commissioner for many years, I'm very cognitive of this.

Is this guy droppable in a short-bench league (5 players)? I typically only carry 2 bench WRs - JuJu, J. Meyers, and Downs are out there and very tempting to pick up and drop this anchor on my roster. Buuuuttt......I could get really burned by that later in the year.

I'd try and trade Waddle if you need the spot. Even do a 2 for 1 (Waddle + something) to get a top stud. Waddle + your TE for an elite TE if you can upgrade. Waddle + RB for a top RB? Try to be creative.

Short benches are tough but I'm trying everything to keep Waddle. Once Tua is back there will be better days.

Every league is different but I am holding. We start 3 WRs and can keep no more than two on the bench. I typically carry one, and Waddle is that one. Current starters are Chase, London, and used Downs last week as a WR3. May go to the wire again this week and drop Downs, but may stay the course. My opinion is he’s worth holding for a few weeks. If the Tua return gets elongated I will reconsider but there’s no news to imply that will be the case.
