WR Josh Gordon, KC (2 Viewers)

:blackdot: I just got offered Gordon for Tre Mason. We have a new contract system in place and I had to ask my commissioner about it... It would be nice to have him for 2 or 3 weeks before the playoffs to see how he does...

did anyone else catch mort during halftime tonight?... he mentioned if the commissioner were to take a game off aldon smiths suspension he could rejaoin the lineup week 9.... mort said it in passing but if smith is going to get a game reduction why the hell not gordon? why would he even speculate that would be possible without having some cource telling him it could be possible?

seemed like an odd thing for mort to say.
Mort likes to shoot from the hip. He also likes to talk a lot of smack about his team on Fantasy Football Live.

He got dropped in our league last week and noone picked him up.

I NEARLY dropped Roddy White for him. Thank god I didn't! Those 25 points pushed me to 5-2.

So he seems to have very little value in redraft-focused leagues.
Please tell us your roster and lineup requirements and we'll tell you who to drop.

I can't wait to unleash him and a healthy Green in a couple weeks in my dynasty. Been a tough year but hanging in there. Dude better reward my patience with him.

I can see it now he pulls a hammy on the second play back on the field, and misses three weeks. Always seems to end that way
He should be in game shape running up and down the lot all day getting signatures for the finance department and giving kids piggy back rides. I heard this weekend they are going to take him down to the track and have him race against a 2015 Ford Mustang. Can you say PROMO!

He's still out there in my 14-team 0.5 PPR league. I'd been planning on waiting until after I use up Alex Smith next week during Brady's bye, but I'm getting a little antsy and wondering if I should drop KWright or Holmes for him. At least one of those guys may need to start for me in the next couple weeks.

My biggest worry with Gordon is that he's back Week 12, and while I got burned not starting him in his first game back last year, I think a 10-game layoff will leave significantly more rust than a two-gamer. So now we're into Week 13. Is it worth holding the roster spot for four weeks in order to have him for four?

What kind of league is this? Serious question
I've been stashing Gordon for a while in my ESPN league. As of yesterday, his overall ownership is still under 20%.
That's insane. In CBS leagues he is owned in 87% of leagues.
63% in Yahoo. I must say, I don't think it's a slam dunk. It's a huge risk to burn a roster spot for multiple weeks on a guy who may only contribute for the final four weeks.

Do you not have benches/maybe open waivers? How in the world is that possible? The bigger the league, the more important it is to stash someone like Gordon where talent is thin for the stretch run.

because I have full confidence in my ability to draft, Ive had him stashed since before week 1 (in redraft)...

come week 12, he is going to catapult me into the joy zone, w his homies antonio brown and gronk.

cannot waitttttttttttttttttttttt

5-man benches, open waivers. Owned him earlier this year, but dropped him after the suspension was officially set at 10 games because I needed the spot. In fact, the only reason I'm considering picking him up ahead of schedule is because Tre Mason flamed out.

I'm not saying I disagree with you argument, but I don't think he's the slam dunk that a lot of people here seem to assume.

I could see if you were saying earlier in the season. At this point he is a slam dunk to own. He was the #1 WR last year. He is going to miss 3 more games. Then you could have for 5 weeks (wk 12-16).

Calvin's initial prognosis was 2-3 weeks. You are telling me if he did that today you think it would be perfectly normal for people to drop him. I call BS.

I just picked him up last week, and don't see picking up Gordon as an easy decision for many teams. We only have 5 bench spots, so that means there are a lot of viable players on the WW who can score points for you now. I am struggling to field lineups the next two weeks due to byes, but at 6-2, I can absorb a loss or two for the potential payoff later. A team with no sure shot at the playoffs has to think twice about limiting itself to 4 bench spots until week 12. By then, it could be too late.

Rotoworld:

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Browns debated trading Josh Gordon to the 49ers at last year's trade deadline for a "couple of picks."

It's further confirmation of a rumor that's been bouncing around for some time now. CBS' Jason La Canfora reported in September that the deal was nixed by Browns owner Jimmy Haslam. The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported last year that the Browns received "several good offers" for Gordon ahead of the deadline. It obviously has little bearing on the now, but is interesting alternate history.

what weeks do the playoffs start?

So who are people replacing with Gordon week 12? Im very anxious to put him in as my 3 wr over Edelman.
That's a good question. My WR are Dez, Brown, Cobb, Sanders and Gordon. I'm trying to trade some of these guys but no one is willing to trade.

Been holding onto him in 2 leagues since before week 1.

In one league he will be replacing either AJ Green (if still not healthy) or Gronk.

In the other he'll immediately replace Eddie Royal or Allen Robinson.

Week 14. Eight teams, standard three-week playoff.

FYI, I did finally pull the trigger on him (dropped KWright). I was initially wary about starting him Week 12, but realized that with Brown on bye, I'll probably go for it, since the rest of my WR corps is pretty middling (Randle, TWilliams, Holmes, Crabtree). Assuming he pans out, I feel pretty good about going into the playoffs with Brown/Gordon/Randle. But I still don't think you can just assume he'll immediately pick up where he left off last year.

You playing in a 2-man league with your Grandma?
huh? those WRs were all draftable at theor ADP. Dez late 1/early 2. Brown 2/3, Cobb 4, Sanders 5-6, Gordon WW

Maybe in an 8 teamer with negative one point per reception. In my 12 team ppr the first three were gone by 2.2 with Sanders falling to 4.11

I have Dez and Jordy with my 3rd WR at the moment Beckham Jr. I hope Beckham continues to play well so I can maybe flip him for something valuable when Gordon is back.

Terence Williams, Andre Holmes, Andre Hawkins, Louis Murphy, and Mike Evans. He'll be staying alongside Calvin, unless one of those other guys breaks out before then. Then I might wait to make sure Gordon shakes off any rust...

Thats why we were able to hold tight and RELAX throughout the whole ordeal whe the haters panicked.

Gordon is going to be a 100% healthy when evey other player is going to be sore and banged up through the grind of an NFL season. He is going to light up the fantasy scoreboards.
Flipside being he will also be several months removed from playing at meaningful NFL game speed. Chance for him to pull something may be higher and he is not likely to have much timing with Hoyer (or whomever may be QB at that time). Throw in all the distractions and I think there are definite reasons for caution. Many owners seem to be discounting them and/or banking on getting the 2013 Gordon in 2014. He was on an epic, record-breaking roll last year. History would strongly suggest a drop off from that level.
