WR Josh Gordon, KC (6 Viewers)

Just traded for this guy about five minutes before the report came out. I really hope that he can get his life together on a personal level, but on a fantasy level, COME ON, MAN.

OK, any controlled substance abuse workers (docs, therapists, addicts?) here want to comment on the average stint in an inpatient rehab facility?

You mean your trade partner heard it and duped you!
Yeah, unless you'd been going back and forth negotiating for a few days and just happened to have really sh!tty timing, that's a pretty unscrupulous to deal damaged goods like that. I'd probably have words with someone over it.

Really only other rational explanation is that he suffers from performance anxiety and imminent return without a substance to lean on  was to much for him to deal with. That being said the opinion you shared is the one that makes most logical sense and to me is most likely explanation.
I thought about this post a bit after reading it, and I think I have another theory.  First off, I do think there is a small chance he does have performance anxiety, so nice idea.

However, I am going conspiracy theory here.  The browns front office convinced Gordon to go to rehab for 2 reasons. First, they think he might actually have a problem and want him to get well for the future.  Second, it makes sense to not have him come back since they are trying to tank this season away.  I mean, hell, Coleman might not even have a broken hand.  Coleman, Gordon, and Pryor?  No no no, that might win us a few games this year, and we do NOT want that.......... :banned:

If you are still a Gordon owner, you don't get to complain that your lottery ticket didn't pay off. You knew the risk. You likes to daydream about when he came back, and tore it up, and OMG UPSIDE.

At least you find out now, and can clear the roster spot.

But you don't get to rage about how dumb he is. You swing for the fence, and missed.  No big deal.

Just offered the deal a bit before it was accepted. I've won the league two years in a row. This guy is a perennially knocked out of the playoffs. I'm sure that he thought I probably knew something that he didn't, saw the news, and made the decision to accept it. I'm not going to have words. I'm going to accept this horrible luck and move on. Just another challenge to overcome with my 1-2 squad.

That being said, I'm really curious if this is the end for Gordon. The league and the Browns can pay all the lip service they want about this, but I'm sure that the Browns are DONE with the guy, and like a lot of other people here, in my heart I'm certain that this is due to him either failing another test or knowing that he was going to. My brother-in-law lives in Cleveland and when I told him about my deal, he laughed so hard. Said that he's been seen in Cleveland smoking pot since his suspension. Could just be a tall tale, but do you really doubt it at this point?

I need time. And space.

Pray for me (and josh) during this difficult time.
Soul, I have followed your posts and admired your forthright belief in Gordon's talents and his return. I'm sorry it did not work out, but here is to all the optimists in the world who dream big. Cheers, mon frere. :banned:

I agree with this - I wish him well.

Losing a 9th round pick sucks, but hey, I could have drafted AP in the 1st round, so yeah. Similarly there was a risk with AP and equal upside - just didn't work out. So no insulted to Gordon, and I really do hope he gets his life together.

But the upside...

A buddy of mine said he saw Gordon not too long ago smoking again. Hopefully they place less emphasis on reefer testing so this kid can play. I have no faith in his ability to quit. Period. But hopefully that injury heals up nice and quick so he can learn the playbook and get back to blazing!
Please monitor the date of his alleged failed test. (If he indeed failed a test). I wrote this back in July and promptly sold him for a 2017 1st. I was dead serious when I wrote this.

Mine is that he didn't fail a test, but was partying and knew he would, and this is a ploy to avoid getting the call to go piss in a cup.

500% chance this check-in is because he failed another test, or knew he would fail another test.
Wouldn't change anything, if that's why he did it

Here's to hoping just wants to fix himself, and was proactive about it. I'll cut the jokes out now, as the guy seems to really want help. All the best to him and hope he's back soon

If Josh Gordon has failed another test, Soulfly promised this would be the end of the line. He promised. It is written somewhere but there are so many pages of wasted space, I dont have the desire to track it down. Its in there somewhere. This ride is over. The Coleman / Pryor era is here!!!

He doesn't really want help, though.

Doing this a week before he was supposed to come back is just another ploy to get chance number 317.

Did he self check in?  I hope the guy gets better and the NFL doesnt hold this against him.
If he does check himself in before he has to take a urinalysis then he's in the clear, right? How long is rehab? A month?

I would think he's on some kind of probation and is required to take regular tests even during the suspension. If that's the case ( I don't know) & he were out partying regularly he would've been busted by now. Pretty sure his Don't partake in the following substances included booze too.

Like I said, Im dropping the shtick.

The guy is seeking help, and that takes balls. Just wishing him the best, cuz nfl is better w him on the field.

C'mon now.  You have absolutely no clue that this is correct, and in fact all evidence points in the other direction.  Him checking into rehab may very well be his last desperate attempt, not to get sober but to make it seem like he cares after he's potentially f'd up for something like the seventh straight year.

I do not believe this search for help is sincere.

Just a ploy for another chance, and another, and another, and another, and another.....∞

If teams wont cut murderers and rapists because of their talent, do you really think he isn't going to land somewhere if the Browns do decide to part ways?

He is 25 and runs like a deer. Assuming this was his own affirmative action, I could see him back on the field in 4-6 weeks.

Uh, as you mentioned in another post, I think your trade partner has faster internets and pulled a fast one on you.  Not very honorable of him, I would say.

Curious what you gave up for him?

Gordon is getting dropped by the masses on Yahoo, I think it's time to follow suit.

C'mon Soulfly--let's be real here.  It's not like Gordon is some great dude with drugs being his only issue.  This dude dodged a paternity test for a year until a judge put a warrant out for his arrest a few weeks ago.  He was out there for a year partying with Manziel while a young woman was wondering if the potential father of her child would play a part of that child's life.  The guy doesn't want help--if he wanted it--he would have gotten it in the offseason, or during the 4 week suspension that he was serving---he wouldn't do it now.  Sorry for the rant--it's just frustrating to see how easily people are willing to let themselves fail.

As a sidenote:  There are two different types of paternity tests--one is a swab test--and the other a blood test. I'm just wondering if maybe his paternity test exposed some sort of drugs in his system.  I want to make clear that this is nothing more than just pure speculation on my part.
