WR Josh Gordon, KC (6 Viewers)

I keep visiting this thread expecting to see actual Gordon news, only to find inane, useless posts.
Any chance you might have some Flash news?  I been busy for a few hours and might have missed something

Says for instance IF the absence is HK related can such info be publicly released?  I mean knocking hard knocks ain't exactly like knocking a ref which is like personal or something

Thoughts?

Shrouded in secrecy?  The Browns are good with it.  Gordon is good with it.  Teammates love the guy and are on record fully supporting it.  What else matters?

Why would any of us feel entitled to an explanation beyond that?  Because fantasy football?
Yes, shrouded in secrecy. Anything else happens, like a hamstring, death in the family, etc, the team releases the info and there's no mystery.  With Gordon, we have a five time loser who keeps screwing up every new chance he gets and he suddenly disappears at a crucial time with two new quarterbacks to learn to work with and we get nothing. That's the very definition of secrecy. Why the games? How about being truthful?

Good stuff, and decent example.  But Stafford was QB#5 in my league last year, I don't think anything in Cleveland comes close to that.  I guess what I'm getting at - is there any real shot of both guys getting 1,000+ yards?
From what I can gather locally, Landry is looking incredible along with the chemistry.  PPR gold.  JG would be the next in line for WR targets.  IMO, there could easily be a 30% difference there.  On the other hand, Gordon's YPC should be 40% (?) higher.  I don't know if either gets to 1000 yds.  Certainly, Duke Johnson will eat into that number.

Also worth noting, IMO, is that Njoku is being widely touted on these boards.  I'd advise caution until he shows better hands.

Dude can't catch a cold from what I've heard so far. You'd think he would have worked on that in the offseason.

Browns GM John Dorsey confirmed he still believes Josh Gordon will rejoin the team this season.

"I told you all he would be here, and he will,'' Dorsey said in a radio appearance. "When Josh gets here, I'll be excited to see him." Dorsey didn't offer any timetable for Gordon. Gordon has been staying in shape on his own but he's missing valuable reps in a new scheme. The Browns have been linked to Dez Bryant in Gordon's absence, but talks haven't went anywhere. Gordon returning before the third preseason game would put him in line for an every-down Week 1 role.

About what?

He didn't disappear.  He made it known and has the support of the team.  They know where he is.

Again - the team is good with it.  Why do you feel entitled to anything beyond this?  Fantasy football?

There are 0 data points indicating anything other than the team - from owner to GM to coach to teammates - being good with it.  At least from what I've seen.

Of course all speculation goes the other way, because we have to make the NFL a guys' version of Housewives/Kardashians.  If that is what you are after, speculate away.

There is also 0 chance the owner/GM/teammates would come out and bash him in public.

None of us know wtf is going on.

This is the first time to my knowledge this has ever happened in the NFL. Coincidentally it's with a player with a long long list of suspensions and failed drug test but by all means keep clinging to that last thread that Gordon is just trying to get clarity of the situation.  If you cannot see there is something bigger here then my man that's totally on you.

Updating an earlier report, Josh Gordon will not report to Browns' training camp by Tuesday.

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported earlier that Gordon was "getting closer" to making his return, though it doesn't appear he'll be back by Tuesday. Of course, if Gordon doesn't report by that date, which is 30 days before the start of the regular season, he wouldn't be eligible for restricted free agency until 2020. However, the Browns have reportedly "taken measures to ensure" that Gordon won't be hurt by Tuesday's deadline. While his teammates have been at camp, the 27-year-old has been seeing a counselor while training on his own in Gainesville, Florida.

To prevent WR Josh Gordon from losing an accrued season toward free agency while he’s tending to his health, the #Browns are expected to move him from the “did not report” list to the roster by tomorrow, source said. Then, they’ll place him on a reserve list (NFI) until he shows.

.... No way. This doesn't fit Shark Pool narrative

Them being ##### and saying no screw your rehab get into camp by the deadline or you’ll have to wait an additional year for free agency for starters.
The FO wants him to be gone as soon as possible.  Allowing him to accrue his season makes it happen that much faster.

So when he comes back and plays the season... which by all reports is the plan.  It is on who?

The "something bigger here" is Gordon doing what is best for him, and therefore for the team.  With his teammates', GM, and Owner's support.

Shouldnt the when be an "If".  And what the hell do you mean "by all reports"?  Nobody knows anything at this stage and given his history that is why many are concerned.

 @RapSheet

#Browns worked through the process on WR Josh Gordon’s status & learned they do not need to make a roster move to ensure he gets an accrued season — There’s an exception to the rule if a player fails to report due illness or hardship. No move coming, but Gordon will get his year.
.... but what about for failed tests??? #FBGs

Speaking Thursday, Browns GM John Dorsey said there was "no timetable" for Josh Gordon's return to the team.

The Browns have tried to project positivity on Gordon's potential return, but they don't seem to know anything more than the rest of us. Their continued interest in free agent Dez Bryant might speak louder than words. The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported four days ago that Gordon was "getting closer to returning." We are 31 days away from the Browns' opener.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports the Browns still expect Josh Gordon to return for the 2018 season, "possibly" by Week 1.

The report comes amidst renewed Twitter innuendo about Gordon's status. Free agent Dez Bryant also visited the Browns on Thursday. Just 24 days away from the Browns' opener, a "believe it when you see it" attitude is probably the best course of action in fantasy leagues.

Hearing on the radio today the reason he is away is due to a custody/child support batte.

Gotta figure 100 other players have the same thing going on, no?

You guys that think there’s no smoke here (possibly literally) are out of your minds.  I’ll be surprised if he’s back with the team anytime soon.

He still managed 18.6 YPC in five games last year with limited practice time and Deshone Kizer under center.

If he's on the field he's a monster.

Well you can forget that.  I just drafted him in my main league tonight.  Probably won't step on the field but we'll finally rid ourselves of Soulfly

I realize I already said that I think his being away from the team will be a positive.

Now, after watching Hard Knocks, I think that for more reasons than simply because his sobriety was in danger.

I feel I have been watching film on Jarvis Landry and Baker Mayfield extensively.  Steps, hands, eyes, etc.  In slow motion.  Up close.  I get there is older film on Jarvis, but opposing coaches are getting some great film.  And they now know Jarvis is going to come out hot. Defenses will adjust.

On the other hand, there is no new film on Josh Gordon other than the few games he played last year.  He had a full off-season with the team and is supposedly in freakish shape.  This isn't just an athlete though - we know he can play the position also.

I question the timing with Tyrod on some routes initially.  BUT, I think Tyrod is a good breakdown passer.  Tyrod moves in the pocket better than most and can run outside with the ball and extend the play well.  And he doesn't turn the ball over.  I think that bodes well for the WRs and Josh Gordon.

My biggest questions about the Browns after watching Hard Knocks is the state of the offensive line.  The tackles were not playing well at all.  Even in the preseason games.  And there is going to be two more weeks of film on all of them.

I think it is a good thing that Tyrod can move. And I think I understand better why the Browns are saying Mayfield isn't going in this year. Its the O Line.

But I digress.  Given the entire team (except maybe Jarvis) has been saying Josh Gordon was the best WR on the field and we can see what Jarvis is playing like...I think the fact there is no film on Josh Gordon is a plus for him possibly starting fast.

ETA AAAaaand someone just snaked Gordon in front of me in one of the BB $35 leagues...I have to remember to post AFTER I pick!

Moving him up my draft list.  Huge positive that he never plays and theres no film on him.

That said, how many opponents even both watching film on the Browns?

Who isn't watching Hard Knocks? Its everything involved from administration & management to player personnel. I learn things every episode.

I agree, maybe they have better things to do.  But Hard Knocks is put out by the league. On a Tuesday. During training camp.  I suspect good coaches are DVRing the episodes....

I don't think anyone really knows anything - if I owned him in dynasty I'd have concerns (but wouldn't sell low) and luckily my only redraft is still two weeks away so hopefully more info comes out.
