WR Josh Gordon, KC (1 Viewer)

I'd say the opposite. I think Gordon's suspension now appears completely ridiculous in comparison to the punishment given to Rice. The NFL has already issued a tougher policy regarding punishment following domestic violence. Makes sense to me that they follow that up with a more reasonable policy regarding punishment of recreational drug use while also getting tougher on HGH. Any attempt to try and defend the length of the Welker and Gordon suspensions in light of the Rice video is now laughable.
Why is it laughable? The video just confirms the facts that most knew. The presence or lack of video should have no impact the length of suspension. When the rules are bad, the two sides need to meet at the bargaining table and adjust them.

What's laughable is the DA/gov't kicking this to the curb.
After seeing the video it does seem a lot worse to me. Not only did he knock her out but afterwards there was no concern at all. When I first heard about it I thought he did an awful thing but maybe it was the first time. At that I thought the two games was a joke. After seeing it there is no way that was the first time. It is insane to me that he isn't in a jail cell because that is definitely going to happen again.

Agree with your last statement.

Generally when people knock someone out they aren't going to show a lot of concern.

That's how I see it as well. I had been giving him the benefit of the doubt but he showed no remorse after knocking her out and dragging her out of the elevator. I was hoping there were some extenuating circumstances that would mitigate the seriousness of what he did but quite simply, he's an #######.

I feel like this is a coin flip right now.
Him playing this year, or playing in the next couple of weeks?
Looking pretty good for him playing at some point, questions remains how much.
Should we put the same weight on this opinion as we did your opinion that he would get zero games a few weeks back?

Big scoop by Mort.

He was asked about Gordon, and frankly, his bumbling, stuttering answer didn't tell me too much, aside from the fact that he's not sure.

So move Gordon now while lotto ticket value is at height or hold?

Anyone getting any offers or pulled anything off.

Thinking of offering him straight up for Cam.

I will be annoyed if Gordon is reinstated. There is too much money on the line fantasy wise to have a player who lead the league in Receiving last season fall late in the draft or to be acquired via Free Agency.

Mort just said reinstaatement has been discussed for Gordon and Welker, among others. Vote is tomorrow.
Listen again...he said it has been reported...he didn't go so far as to say it has been discussed. He also said that other team have complained which suggests it has been discussed, so I am not sure why he worded it the way he did, but the "fairness" argument among owners of teams who's players wouldn't benefit could be a sticking point

Still see zero chance anyone gets reinstated. They violated terms of the CBA at the time terms of that CBA were in effect. Nothing is going to be overturned or changed.

yea, the more i think about it, he didn't really say anything meaningful regarding reinstatement.

If Josh Gordon gets reinstated, what happens with his DWI arrest in July? Is that a factor in all this? I don't know, I'm asking. If he failed two drug tests, and then this third one is what led to the year suspension, you would think that a DWI would be a problem.

you could have drafted him
I drafted him in two leagues, and was laughed at both times. No one said it wasn't fair, they thought I wasted a pick. If this little pothead gets to play anytime this month, I will send out the most obnoxious email a league has ever read.

Calculated risk. Anyone else could have drafted him instead of Cecil Shorts. Or Ray Rice.

Bro....they're saying if the vote gets passed tomorrow....its done.

This is what credible people are saying.
woah now
Yeah, they aren't saying that.

There's a vote tomorrow from the union reps, to approve the new deal. That's it. No one knows anything about Welker or Gordon's deal yet.

On one hand I think it is a positive they have something to vote on, but don't underestimate the negative impact HGH testing could have on MANY players and that could cause the player reps to vote this down.

This is a very tricky situation for the players union.

It will also be a very tricky situation for all of us as fantasy owners. If we think suspensions are difficult to deal with now, I think it will be worse (for a while) if HGH testing is passed. I would guesstimate up to 2-3 times more suspensions

I think it's a big deal for this to get done and for Gordon and Welker among others to get "saved" by this decision... NFL needs all the positive press it can muster right now with Nevermore Ray and TMZ is gonna be dropping another big egg in the face story tomorrow on the NFL claiming NFL new abt video but turned a blind eye as if they didn't want to see it

How is letting suspended players (for drugs) get out of their suspension positive press???

Depends on the new policy. His court date is in Nov. The league usually waits anyways til post court, which could change as well. We don't know yet.

I'd say it's more positive than what's on the tube now no? They will spin it as a positive to get the truly dangerous drugs out of the league... The bargaining chips (suspensions reduced) are a part of those negotiations supposedly

I think you are letting your bias lead you to a conclusion that doesn't make sense

Can't decide if I'd rather watch Gordon owner or DansRams meltdowns if the decision doesn't go their way.

I certainly wont meltdown...I am just here exposing the illogical arguments. I could care less if Gordon plays or doesn't play

Letting back Welker for doing a little Molly at a horsey race, and for Gordon smoking weed--in light of today's story---won't even move the outrage needle a little bit.

It's not a positive story, but I just think it will have zero negative impact.

I would agree with that

Rice doesn't get convicted and is out of the league bypassing the new 6 game rule policy.

Hardy gets ruled guilty and is playing.

Honestly wouldn't surprise me if Gordon gets off after violating leagues rules and then gets tagged for a non-rule violation.

Could this deal have been ready for this deadline anyway sure but you don't believe it's plausible that after a TERRIBLE pr day the NFL wants positive press about implementing HGH testing?? Other than those of us playing fantasy football don't you think most NFL fans won't care so much if a few guys who got busted for weed have their suspensions reduced??

Top 3 Story Lines in NFL tomorrow...

1.) Ray Rice Nevermore

2.) TMZ says NFL Turned the Other Cheek (see what I did there?)

3.) NFL Votes to Implement HGH Testing

Now you are changing your argument ....I bolded your original statement for you. You might want to read what you said.

Ok my bad I see what ur saying... I meant the positive news of them passing the HGH testing... The lifting of suspensions will be a bonus for us in the fantasy football community but IMO won't make much of a stink positively or negatively in comparison to the other stories of the day

Anybody know what time the vote is?

So nutshell, on this proposal, it has either has a clause written in that "current offenders will be subject to these new rules/standards" or it doesn't?
