WR Josh Gordon, KC (3 Viewers)

This on Rotoworld:

ESPN's Chris Mortensen is "hearing plenty of criticism" about Josh Gordon, including that he's out of shape.

Gordon, who led the NFL in receiving last season, had his snaps reduced Sunday in favor of Taylor Gabriel and Travis Benjamin. Apparently the Browns aren't happy with his conditioning, route-running and/or grasp of the playbook. Of course, none of this came out over the last two weeks, so it looks like they're trying to save face after making the mistake of sticking with Brian Hoyer over Johnny Manziel. The Browns would have to be insane not to use Gordon as a full-time, featured player in a must-win game against Cincy in Week 15. The concern is that they are that insane.
bolded is ding ding ding. rotoworld is nailing this one. and im pretty sure its actually stemming from pettine. i think the front office wants johnny, and has for some weeks. but pettine is all about hoyer and is doing everything he can to protect hoyer while shifting blame. gordon is the perfect scapegoat given his history, despite him never being out of shape or lacking effort. but hey, hes a pot smoking black man, he does everything wrong.
So you think a head coach is going to alienate his best player to protect a QB that won't even be on the team next year?
I believe the Browns are looking for fast, white 6-2+ WRs in the Jordy Nelson mold. They are tired of slow, out of shape, black men who smoke pot and used to sell used cars.

Gordon played his highest snap count of the season Sunday.

What a load of ####

Another lame attempt at playing the race card? In (again) a situation where it's not even remotely an issue? What is with you? I mean I've known guys with a chip in their shoulder, but you're lugging around a cinder block.
Agreed, that was a lame insinuation. It isn't hard to find actual examples of racial discrimination in the world, so no need to go and just make one up. If they are throwing Gordon under the bus, it's because "missing 10 weeks due to suspension" makes for an excellent scapegoat, and it has nothing to do with race.I thought Hoyer was proving he had the goods early in the season, but something has derailed that train recently. Maybe he isn't holding up under the pressure, or something. The defense handed him a win against a very good Colts team but he couldn't close it out. I think Manziel has a lot to learn before he is ready for the NFL, but they should probably give him a shot.
Maybe the book is out on him and teams are forcing him to do what he is weak at doing. This is a string of games now that he has looked like garbage. They need new blood in there or they will get more of the same. Hoyer is not adapting to the way teams are playing him.
If I weren't watching that's what I'd say, but I am watching and I don't think this is the case. Others around him started making mistakes, he handled the criticism poorly, and now it's in his head. Others around him are still making mistakes, but he's not being a good leader; he's regressing with them. He's not working through his reads like he used to. He's just making up his mind, saying #### it, and hoping it works.

Can't win doing that.

Lost in the QB change is the fact that Cin ranks 5th in fewest points allowed to WRs. Granted they got torched by Big Ben last week..including a 90+ yard TD.

Can anyone elaborate? Who is their best corner, etc? Stats against WR1s?

Gordon down in the high WR3 range in FBG early projections for PPR for the week. I plan on starting him but looking for some warm and fuzzies.

No better situation than looking at AJ Green - 3 catches, 23 yds in his first game against Haden this season. Needless to say, I am not benching Green. And I may actually play Gordon if Jones is out.

Was shocked to see guys like Michael Crabtree and Charles Johnson against the Lions D a better option than Gordon, now in the WR3 range.

ya, i think that, bc its obv that is what is happening. i mean, i wouldnt have predicted it, but i can see it with my own eyes. pettine's unbridled love for hoyer is crazy.

I have just booked my flight to Paris for this coming Saturday, and unfortunately will be unable to view this weekend's beautiful resurgence of Gordon under the throwing arm and creativity of Mr Manziel.

Do not be alarmed if I am not posting here during the game, as I will check in on Sunday evening from the luxury of the Hotel Balmoral to see beautiful statlines for both my Browns Bombers.

Enjoy, my friends. Onwards through the playoffs for you, and to the playoffs for the Browns!!

Struggling with Gordon vs Kelvin Benjamin in week 15. KB could be a multi-TD start with Derek Anderson, but I would be throwing up in my hat if Gordon decided to have a monster against CIN.

My biggest fear for Gordon is that CLE comes with an ultra-conservative game plan to protect Manziel in his first start. Run heavy, play field position, use Hayden to erase Green, and try to win 16-13. I wouldn't be shocked in Manziel threw it less than 25 times on Sunday.

Why would you wait to book a flight until 3 days before you are leaving?
Needed to ensure Id have all my work done before I left for Christmas holidays?

That was an expensive choice
Believe it or not, I got the best price Id seen in the past week+ of looking. Id seen some asinine numbers, even for xmas time - but I managed a flight with just 1 stop (10hr total flight, as opposed to the normal 7.5-8) for under $1000. Round trip.

Yup, left me with more of a budget for the Hotel, so I sprung for a pretty luxurious one.

Why the hell not, it's xmas and I dont have/want kids.

It's a helluva town, there are places to watch the game should you so choose....

10 hours on a plane? They should be paying you $1000 for that type of torture.

I used to live in Australia for almost 2 yrs. 24 hours of flight each way - Id come home twice a year.

Never. Again. Id get to the point of wanting to literally die on the plane.

As for France... It's 1hr to NYC, then 7.5hrs to paris. 1.5hr layover

You're flying coach on a transatlantic flight? I thought you were a FBG, man.

I hereby solemnly vow the following for Week 15:

I, Soul Caleb Fly III, hereby vow that if Josh Gordon does not end his week 15 game with at least 100yds and a TD (if, and only if Johnny Manziel starts), I will never post again in this thread.

I will leave behind a near half year of memories, and bury them with my heart. You have my word.

Signed,

Soul Caleb Fly III

December 8, 2014.
Oh come on, don't do that. You're committed to the thread, you bring good comments and knowledge and information, stay in the thread.
I may have to shoot myself if Flash gets less than a 100 and at least one TD

Oh, ya.... Forgot to mention I splashed on the 2000$ upgrade to first class seating w prostate massagers.

I work for the school board. I make good money, not fly first class money... Ill save that jive talk for the self proclaimed millionaires on here.

I just don't think I ever foresaw the "let's sit Josh on 3rd downs" strategy.
It was absolutely ridiculous. Who sits their biggest playmaker on 3rd down? The most crucial down in football? Pettine! That's who!

Josh informed me this was a ploy, to get his haters and doubters off his wagon.

#JG12Exclusive

Now that the believers are left starting him, it's time.

I picked him up in week one, kept him on my short bench for 10 weeks, spent a good chunk of my WW budget to get him, I've managed to be ok the past few weeks despite the low performance.

Is this the time I get rewarded, or is it the time he cost me the season?

In for an inch in for a mile..

here we go....

I'm sitting Gordon over D Byrant, Cobb and K Allen.... One passing TD last 6 weeks, Manziel who will tuck and run and believe Cincy def with only 11 pass tds allowed all year will rebound from last week

Pettine is turning out to be one of the worst coaches in the NFL. The way he has handled the RB situation and Gordon just screams amateur. Put him right up there with Philbin as WTF hires.

I have to agree in the little I have seen of the Browns. I don't recall the game, but he was awful with timeouts. The had a ton of time to get a FG and ended up with 2 or 3 timeouts left and had to throw a hail mary type of play. Saving 3 timeouts for something like 15 seconds before halftime in a close game is one of the dumbest coaching moves I had seen.

Off I go, gents.... #### Paris awaits.

Merry Xmas to you all, whether you like me or not.

I'll be seeing you late Sunday or early Monday, whenever I can get online. Enjoy Manziel Mania!

Funny how this thread drops without SF.

This needs to be on page 1 today for good or ill.

Gordon is due a TD and a deep one at that, I am starting him in one league benching him in others where there are great options. So, hedging my bets, but I will be quietly hopeful today.
