It seems like Gordan has round 3/4 value next season. That is probably fair value for him. I think it depends on what else you have on your team and also where the 2017 pick winds up. I'm not that high on this year's draft though.

This is a good year to offer a high first for Gordon. Maybe not top 2, but anything else after that seems like a move i would think about doing and take a chance on gordon.

In some peoples minds such as Bloom's he is a 3rd to 4th round pick. In my opinion it is not very smart to be taking Gordon over established WR such as Maclin and Edelman (which happened in a mock I am doing right now).
The numbers I posted previously using a best case scenario view on Gordon work out to be WR 2 numbers with high upside but also a low floor due to his poor career catch percentage. Still that is the upside of a best case scenario. The real floor for Gordon is nothing at all.
I don't think it is wise to use premium resources such as a 3rd or 4th round pick on him when there are other players with similar upside but much more solid track record available.
I have to question Blooms advice on this. Reminds me of some other bad calls recently such as suggesting Joseph Randle should be picked in the 3rd round last year. Not sure why Bloom is setting people up to fail like this. He should know better by now.

I'm int he same boat. Scooped him at a $1 this year, with the option to keep him at $5, $10, and $15 as either a one year keeper or three year. Will gamble that he has learned his lesson and is straightened out to go for the a 3-year keeper contract.

People are going to give up 1sts this year for Gordon because I have a feeling most people think this is a weak draft, myself included.

No. It was not very convincing when I did hear some of this. I recall Matt and Bloom stammering incoherently about him saying stuff like this is why they watch tape and so on without making any clear points or reasons about it.
FWIW I do think Michael has a lot of talent. As does Josh Gordon.
I just think it is bad business to pay top 50 value for players with talent or a good situation when there are other risks involved. At least Gordon has proven he can be good with enough opportunity. Michael has looked alright in his second chance with the Seahawks but his play has not been as amazing as Gordon.
In 2014 I was willing to take a chance on Gordon with his suspension still up in the air at that time. I used pick 212 on him. I would likely be willing to take a chance on him with a higher pick than that in a start up, but not top 50. Maybe not even top 100. Not sure exactly where I think the risk meets the reward. I did not have as much disagreement with the guy who picked him 66 as I did the guy picking him 35.

Then promptly draft Algholor/ Funchess types. No thanks. Unless I am getting at least 1 top 2 pick, forget it. Rather take my chances with a guy who has done it before.

I don't know.
Right now I would probably lean towards taking pick 3 because it will have more trade value than Gordon, and I would have all offseason to move the pick in a package for a stud.

In dynasty I traded away Demariyus "Dropsies" Thomas for Gordon and a late first. Felt like a great deal to me. Tired of the underperforming Thomas/Manning, who knows what happens in Denver next year, and I believe Gordon is a potential #1WR in the league if (yes, I understand, if) he cam come back and fly right.
Agree with the poster above who said he's the ultimate risk/reward play. Sky is the limit. I don't see him coming back and being bad or being average. He'll either dominate or disappear from the league.

Makes sense. I do wonder if Gordon's value skyrockets when he is reinstated though? If healthy and on the field he was a top WR.

Of course it will. And that decision will be in February...
I honestly cant fathom why everyone wouldnt be trying to lick him up now. Every report, every clip, everything leads to him having his #### completely in order and finally dedicated himself to the game.

Not the last time we saw him. Last time we saw him he was Just A Guy.
He was the man in 2013. He was a target monster, and averaged 18,9 YPR. He scored 9 TDs, an amazing number playing for a terrible Browns team.
I think he can come back and be good, but I think expecting 18.9 YPR and 9+ TDs for any player on the Browns is a bad bet. They don't have a QB.
Goff is coming to town? Well, OK. Maybe he is. Pretty much every draft prediction in January is dead wrong, but OK. Maybe he's not ready to throw 20+ TD next year. Maybe he's a bad QB, like every other QB Cleveland drafts.

I've looked around in all my leagues. No one is selling for anything but the price of a top 5 WR. Not buying him at that price.

Leagues with keeper restrictions, salary cap or other rule twists can create opportunity. And while some may be very high (pun intended) on Gordon's potential there will be the pessimistic side that have their doubts. Who knows - you might be able to get him for someone's handcuff RB, a mid-tier WR or a lesser draft pick.

Who would? The actual top 5 WRs don't carry his downside. Why pay a premium for a player that carries so much risk for the consequences of another suspension?
I can understand people who have been holding him for eons wanting to recoup their investment, but I think it is unrealistic if they would expect anyone else to pay top dollar for what may still be damaged goods.

Someone just offered me 1.06 for Gordon. The owners of 1.02 and 1.03 turned me down. So that tells you his value in my league.

Saw him sold for Moncrief straight up in one league. In another league where I owned Moncrief, I made the same offer to the Gordon owner and was turned down with no counter.

We know he can do it at a high level. Anyone in the top ten of the draft had to prove that. There is also the same dangers to overcome when their back account is filled up. If you think Gordon is over his demons he is easily worth top 5. If you're unsure than he's worth a Perriman type pick. I'll take the upside easily.

Rookies have never played an NFL snap, and have shown a propensity to flop, more often than not.
Players with serious injuries sit out of football for nearly a year, and their stock barely takes a hit.

Gordon could literally never play another snap in the NFL. He could have a great week one, and that might be his last game of his career. You will always be afraid to see the Josh Gordon thread on the front page. Because his best comparison may be Brandon Lloyd - who once led the NFL at wide receiver but whose off field problems kept him from playing. Or Blackmon.
Because his production doesn't warrant much more. If he plays, he's still a year removed from being just OK, the year after he had his one monster season. He's been in the NFL four years. 800/5 his rookie season. Suspended in 2013 and only put up one OK game once he came back. Suspended all of 2014.
Because Gary Barnidge just had a monster season for Cleveland, and Travis Benjamin looked elite for a while. As good as he played, maybe part of his success was just that he was their only good receiver that year. I'm not worried about those guys taking snaps from him, I'm worried that his big season was over inflated by being the entire offense.
Because they will probably have a rookie qb. Again.
Because they will have a new head coach and a new run based offense that didn't exactly maximize aj green.
Because people whose careers depend on other people's success may be hesitant to build their entire team around a guy with repeated suspensions.
Because he is a free agent after this year, so even if he succeeds you'll have to worry about a guy with drug and alcohol restrictions suddenly getting millions of dollars.
I think I speak for most people who don't own him when I say I wouldn't mind owning him, but I wouldn't pay anything close to the price I'd have to pay to get him so it doesn't matter if I have him ranked 40th or 80th when guys in my league have him ranked 30th or higher

Because Gordon has the same injury risk they do......................but they do not have the same suspension risk Gordon does.
And those guys have not given anyone a reason to question their commitment like Gordon has.
Lots of reasons, which is why Gordon's value ranges from a top 15 overall player (like your opinion) to the 100th ranked player in a lot of peoples minds.

Yep. And you ruined it for the rest of us. Word is out. I was a buyer, but now these other owners want the world. I gave up the 1.10 today, which I think is worth the risk.

A guy you draft may never do anything, ever. He might even hurt your team by putting up duds in your lineup.
Risk all over the map, which is why I see Gordon in a lot of "risk for risk" type of deals, and nobody is giving up solid established players for him
