That is what the team said.  They have been a work in progress for a couple weeks now.  When they get out of the next 10 days, a bunch more of the new offense will be installed. 

The Pats offense evolves every year.  This is not unusual for NE after the first 4 weeks.

Can you imagine if this dude saw 8 targets/game? 10? Even 6 makes him a weekly must start on most fantasy rosters.

You telling me the Pats are saying "Aw shucks, I'd like to get Gordon six targets per game but, gee willikers that wouldn't be nice to Dorsett, Patterson or Hogan. Those guys are swell."

Not really, but everyone changes up some from week to week (especially when a key player like Edelman comes back).

You may not know this about the Pats, but they adjust the offense to fit their personnel.  New personnel that can do more, they adjust the offense to fit.  

Do you think the offense strategy they ran with Randy Moss was the same as when they were starting Hernandez and Gronk?  Or when they had Faulk or Dillon? 

The offense is plug and play.  I would bet you money right now that BB will use strategy to get the most out of Gordon.

It's about the team, not the player! That's why they win championships.

 
they didnt take on the risk, media and hype of gordon for 2 targets a week. 

they took on the risk for the best WR theyve had since moss.

ETA: I'm talking about success for Gordon even if its as a role player.  Success is productive play and a clean life.

Or they took him on for Occam's razor, which is that he's a decoy so that defenses can no longer crowd the box and completely disrespect the intermediate and deep passing game, costing them wins and maybe a shot at another title.  

 
gordon seems to have the fantasy community shooketh. 

he's the ultimate fantasy mvp / never plays again risk that everyone wants a part of

Preaching Gordon since 2013 and now that he "might" be right nobody will give him credit.  When ya miss 99/100 times the 1/100 correct calls just doesn't get the juice.  Shame.

Which Pat WR / TE produces the most from here on out - Gordon, Edelman, or Gronk? Perhaps all 3 do pretty well. Who would you prefer to own fantasy wise - Gordon or Edelman now? Before the game it might have been Edelman. Did that change after the game? The TOP 200 FORWARD will also change coming into week 6. Gordon will make a big leap up I think. You?

Bolded depends on format. There was an old emo/ska band called The Impossibles from Austin, TX, that once screamed "forget the format!" Anyway, if it's FF they're wrong. PPR? Standard? What kind of PPR? 

Etc., etc.

True dat. I play in 3 different leagues all different. One is standard, one is .5ppr, and the other is full ppr with 1.5ppr for the TE. 

Just look at Gordon and Edelman - .5ppr would you favor Edelman and a standard league Gordon? Will Gordon become Brady's new deep TD toy and Edelman gets his 6-8 catches and a score every other week, while Gordon gets you 4-5 catches and more yardage and a score every other week. Just seeing what others are thinking... Is Edelman for Gordon an even up trade basically? Who would you rather have?

I'd rather have Gordon in any format because I'm less risk-averse. It's now onto -- and this is funny -- forget your format, thinking about your roster. Do you want floor or explosiveness? Because floor is straight Edelman, barring injury. 

Gordon can give you twenty point games provided they use him right. 

For me and only me, because I don't project nor have your rooster: 

Edelman .5 PPR, especially 1 point PPR, but you didn't ask that. 

Gordon standard (Week after bye)

Seems sane.

As a Gordon owner in PPR, if someone offered Edleman straight up I'd insta accept

Edit: But I will not offer the trade because of the "upside". It really is a sickness owning this guy

I can so relate: You do not want him going for 150/2 against your team and kicking yourself because you knew it was there all along. 

You just don't.  

It's easier to have a kneel down for a loss (like a .1 scenario that turns into -.1) than to waste a roster spot on a middling guy when he goes off.

Gronk in standard.  Edelman in PPR.  Think Gronk still has to get healthy.  I think its most likely that Gordon stays in a limited role.  The Patriots might have reason to not overload him because of the obvious pitfalls.  Still lots of weapons with White & Michel, Gronk, Edelman, Dorsett, Patterson, Hogan.  I agree with something you said earlier; that Gordon has value to their offense even as a decoy.  An injury or two... or a couple more drops by Hogan might change that but, for the time being, I see them being patient with him.

Yep. I agree with everything you said, but the poster eliminated Gronk from his question in a later part of the conversation, so the answer you read addressed that. It was pure Edelman/Gordon I was focused on. Gronk makes it so much tougher. 

But I roster all three in my main league, at thing which, if I knew Gordon would be a NEP, never would done. But regardless, thanks for the advice.  :thumbup:  I got a freebie AC!

Cleveland had no structure.  In NE, between TB and BB, he is being given the structure he needs to succeed.  The more they build him up, the stronger he is going to be in his sobriety. He needs to be pushed and have success. I am sure JG is letting the staff know what is too much for him. 

But if his heart is into the playbook, I could see him eating up most of Hogan and Patterson's touches as the season wears on. He offers more flexibility in play calling (IMO).

IMO the honest answer is they are going to split dominant weeks and you really can't go wrong with any of them.

Gordon probably has the lowest floor and the highest ceiling.

Gordon has only been here two weeks. He simply doesn’t know the playbook and is dealing with a hamstring issue. Gordon will be a solid play down the stretch once he and Brady have time to get on the same page.

I hope so.  Brady has been Mr. Checkdown for awhile.  Their leading receiver is White.  With Edelman back, once Gronk gets healthy he may look deep 3 times a game

I am not sure the stats support that assessment.  Last season he averaged 7.9 YPA, the year before it was 8.2 and the year before it was 7.6.  If you look at his career numbers his 7.0 YPA this season (so far) is nowhere near out of whack with his history.

I am on the "It's gotta end sometime" bandwagon but I haven't seen anything, yet, to suggest the end is now.  The bottom line is he hasn't had Gronk and Edelman together since the middle of 2016 and he hasn't had a player like Gordon since Moss. I love Cooks but his game is nothing like Gordon's (yes @Bazinga! we all know Cooks game has managed to be on the field consistently for the past four years ZING!!!).

Yup. Cooks' game is better and more versatile. He can line up anywhere. Deep threat, slant to the house, WR screens, handoffs... Makes Gordon look like a one-trick jump-ball pony.

I'm starting to think he might be right now. Hope he proves me wrong. I haven't seen anything in 4yrs to think otherwise. 

 
Sounds like some of you need to revisit some older Gordon highlights. Yeah he’s an elite deep threat, dude can also house a slant or screen, make things happen on end arounds etc.. y’all acting like he’s DJax and thus needs a Mahomes cannon to properly feed him. Gordon is more Julio Jones than Mike Wallace
