As a Gordon owner I’m liking what I’m seeing with his usage tonight. Thus far he’s had two red zone looks and got a 40 year PI call that set the Patriots up at the 1yard line. He’s not quite there with Brady yet, BUT he’s only been here a few weeks...Feeling very optimistic about JG going forward.

What's not to like?
He has 8 targets, which leads the team. 5 each for White and Edelman, no one else with more than 2. Maybe that changes in the last 7 minutes, but that's a huge increase in his usage in only his 3rd game with the team.
He's not completely on the same page with Brady yet, but it's coming. The targets are what matter, and that's definitely encouraging.

I love that I started him over Edelman and watched Tyreek Hill beat my team by one point.

As a Gordon owner in 2 re-draft leagues--today was a step back for me in regards to confidence level. I posted earlier in this thread that today was really a make it or break it game for me in regards to how I evaluate Gordon. He's had time to work with Brady, playing in a shootout versus an opponent that is very susceptible to the kind of player that he is--and he didn't even deliver 10 fantasy pts. Even though the targets are nice--starting him is still nothing more than a dart throw. His td last week was very fortunate and his output this week was very disappointing. Still a desperation start as far as I'm concerned.

Literally cannot keep up with the emotions of Gordon owners. One second he’s the greatest thing since sliced bread and the next he is a bust.

Are you kidding me? He lead the Patriots in targets and almost caught a 30+ yard bomb in back-to-back weeks.
He's been on the team for 3 weeks and has become progressively more involved in the offense each week and now you decide to give up on him? If anything, it was silly for you to be starting him before this week. This shouldn't be the week you decide he's not startable.

Not giving up on him. I have little doubt he'll be a contributor at some point--but we are in week 6 already. His td last week was beyond fortunate. Dude was basically goose egg'd for the first half of the game. Brady had an hour to throw the ball in a game that wasn't really competitve--and Gordon was pretty fortunate to get it. We have a game here where the Pats score 43 points and Brady goes for 340 yards--against a really bad defense. Gordon effectively played little to no part of it. Even if he had caught that interference ball for a td--that still wouldn't have been some epic performance by him. I'll probably have to start him out of desperation--but I assure you that the vast majority of his owners do not feel comfortable starting him. If you are fortunate to have him rostered and be in a position to where you can plug somebody else for him comfortably--I think thats the perfect scenario. I'd rather have one week of him going off on my bench versus 3 or 4 more quiet weeks of him in my starting lineup.Are you kidding me? I don't really care about last week as it's not indicative of how he will be used going forward. This week, he was the guy in this offense.
He had 2 near misses in the end zone. He could have easily had a statline of 7/82/2 TDs if he's not interfered with on the first look and if he brought down the 2nd endzone look.
The chemistry is only going to get better. As an owner, I'm thrilled that he's been on the team 3 weeks and is getting all this opportunity. I will be starting him as a Patriot for the first time next week. He's going to get way more quality looks and redzone targets than he ever would have as a Brown.
Consider me a glass half full kind of guy.

Is the bar so high that anything short of an "epic" performance is considered a failure?
I guarantee the Patriots are loving what he brings to the offense. That TD from the one was all Gordon in real football. Bummer for us magic football types that he didn't haul it in (which would have given him a 6-82-1 line) but the guy is already a clear difference maker for the Pats.
And the idea that a 6-82-1 performance would still be some kind of letdown for Gordon owners is beyond ludicrous.

I'm not sure the Pats do games with 12 target distribution to WRs not named Edelmen/Welker, or at least not since... 9 targets is a big deal.
I think BB sees something and has a different purpose in mind than what Cleveland saw and used him for. Sounds nuts maybe but that's Belichick, crazy all over to the tune of constant dynastic winning.

You are sooo high on Gordon that your best offer is either the guy that’s currently the 47th best fantasy rb in ppr so far or the current 43rd ranked WR? The guys that you are offering are right there along with Gordon as being some of the biggest disappointments in fantasy so far. I like Gordon’s upside more than either.
@Chaka - If you read through this thread- people that drafted Gordon (including myself) did so because of his freakish talent. The premise is that once he gets targets and is involved that the results would be special. Last night his team scored 43 points in a shootout against a very poor defensive team. He had the highest number of targets. If somebody were to have fed you that information and asked you to guess his production- a line of 6-82-1 would be a reasonable and not overly optimistic guess. I’d say that 5 rec for 42 yards with his longest play going for 12 yards would probably be below the lowest guess that anybody would make based on the circumstances. I think Gordon will be a solid fantasy contributor soon- but let’s call a spade a spade- up to this point in time- he’s been a wasted pick for his owners. He’s been an upside tease that hasn’t delivered any real fantasy production halfway through most fantasy regular seasons. That doesn’t mean he can’t or won’t improve- I clearly believe he will. Even with that- I don’t think that any Gordon owner feels super comfortable having to start him. He hasn’t delivered enough production to establish any sort of real confidence.

Expectations here are beyond idiotic.
The trajectory continues to go up. I'll take snap count increase from 18% to 80% in three weeks, an increase to 9 targets, and clear involvement in one of the best offenses in football.
And this is a guy three weeks ago people were considering DROPPING outright.
If this continues, and I expect it will, Gordon is going to play a key role in some championship teams during the 2nd half of the season. Pretty damn happy to have him as a WR3 with WR1 upside.

I guess. There was room for a bigger game, but a few plays were missed... and we don't get points for long pass interference penalties. He played on 81% of the snaps last night and got 9 targets, and that's after only barely 3 weeks with the team and nothing but limited practices.
Even those who doubted he'd stick with the Patriots or ever be relevant again have to admit his arrow is pointing up based on his developing role and developing chemistry with Brady.
So basically he's gains a HOF QB and plays in a massively shoot out and is a hair better than the on of the biggest busts in the league and ww fodder. Congrats????

It really is going to take a few more weeks. I'd have patience and roster him while not starting him. He was drawing doubles in man coverage every so often and was instrumental on the PI penalty that resulted in an easy punch-in.
It was a bad fantasy night, but I pointed out upthread you're going to have live with teams grabbing him if he's a fantasy asset of yours because every game I've seen him in, he's getting mugged by DBs like Cooks was last year.

Weird when he had a good game with just a couple targets and 20% of the snaps people were saying we can’t expect similar future production with that few snaps and targets. But now when he has a decent game while getting snaps and targets people are gloating like that’s all he can be.
Anyways I think a small issue is that although it looked like he was often Brady’s first read, when he’s being pressed at the line if he doesn’t get off it and open right away Brady is moving on to his next guy. The scrub qbs of the Browns couldn’t do that, they would have Gordon as their only read. Regardless if he keeps seeing 9 targets, deep targets, and end zone targets I’m feeling good about him going forward.

He was on my bench so he didn't hurt me (although he did outscore Jordy in my Flex) - so sure the usage was encouraging but I don't think he looked all that great. Drawing the PI helps that Pats of course, but the contact was pretty innocuous and his fantasy owners probably would have liked for it to have been declined because Gordon caught the pass. He should have, it was in his hands but he dropped it.
With that said - there are the positives that you mention that we can take out of it - but if he doesn't start producing on those targets they will dry up.

I have had a lot of fun in thread, only going over the top when it is clear that I am being sarcastic. I have always given sincere, considered takes when the discussion turns serious (which is very rare). I thought that you were doing the same and not simply here to be @Bazinga! 2.0

So please consider that when suggesting I am moving the goal post. I drafted him at the 6/7 turn to be my #2/flex with upside and posted that in here the day after my draft. I posted on Sunday AM that I started him this week as my flex over Drake and Henry.
No one called the trade to NE, and if it didn't happen his season numbers would be higher but if you don't view what is going on with him in New England as a serious boon to the Patriots and an amazing stroke of good fortune for his fantasy owners then I suggest that you aren't really playing on a field with goal posts in the first place.

It sucks for us that very few of us get points for that production but it's those type of plays that endear him to the Patriots and should keep all of his owners legitimately optimistic for this season and beyond.
Why do you say his numbers would be higher if he stayed in Cleveland but then say it was good luck for fantasy owners he went to the patriots? I think his numbers would be way higher in Cleveland. Mayfield is throwing the ball deep a ton and is accurate with it but is getting killed on drops. Rewatched ratley drop 2 bombs and Calloway also. Maybe he throws it too hard?
Some observations about last night. Brady had one deep throw to Gordon last night, which was under thrown. They are definitely using him more, he seemed to be first read on a lot of his receptions. His rac is non existent though and the cb plays right on him. Didn’t they use to give him a cushion? The 2 incompletions in the beginning of the game seemed to be on him but there didn’t seem to be any more miscommunication and the other incompletions were bad throws. Overall happy with his growing usage but concerned with the lack of deep balls. Could only see targets so can’t see if Gordon is even running go routes and not getting separation or what but hope they are figuring that part of his game out.

I agree with this take. He's seeing a lot of press coverage and it's clearly throwing his timing with Brady off, who is content these days to dink and dunk (very effectively, I might add) his way down the field for the most part. I think the team is built that way, and Gordon is running deep routes. It's going to be tough until he beats single press and starts getting open deep, which then will cause the cushion.
