WR Julio Jones, Retired (3 Viewers)

Speaking Tuesday, Falcons coach Mike Smith declined to offer an update on Julio Jones' (hip) status, saying only he was "sore," and that he "hoped" he'd be ready for Week 15.
Smith went on to say the team would know more in "48 hours." It's a safe bet that Jones will be held out of Wednesday's practice, and likely Thursday's session, as well. That means we may not start getting a real idea of Jones' Week 15 status until Friday. It's quite possible he'll end up a game-time decision against the Steelers. Rotoworld Dec 9 5:12 pm

Rotoworld:

Julio Jones said he doesn't know the extent of his hip injury yet.Jones left Monday night's loss at Green Bay midway through the fourth quarter. "I don't know yet. I haven't did no MRIs or anything like that, so we don't know yet," he said in the locker room afterward. Before leaving, Jones turned in one of the best performances by a wideout this season, going 11-259-1 on 17 targets. The Falcons host the Steelers' atrocious pass defense in Week 15 and Harry Douglas is suddenly a priority add.Related: Harry Douglas

"I haven't did no MRI." Wow!I think the NFL needs to shift its focus from Play 60 to Grammar 101.
Dexter Manley says hello and thinks Julio is doing just fine. ;)

rest up Julio....at least I wouldn't spend twenty hours picking 2 out of Julio, Antonio and Beckham

:wall: So...he'll be a GTD on a freaking MNF game during fantasy playoffs?!?!?!?! FML FML FML
The Falcons have a 1PM game
Please let Julio play,,,,,,,,,,,
He's on my opponent's roster in the upcoming semifinal in both my leagues, so I won't be heartbroken if he doesn't. But, given that the Falcons still have a division title to play for, I expect that he will.
I have him in Rotobowl and i'm top 10; without him the next 2 games whatever chance I have\had is gone.........

I can't see Julio being inactive week 15. Falcons need him in a winnable game at home. He is too much of a competitor to sit this one out, especially since it clearly looked like he would've been able to come back in @ GB had the Falcons recovered that onside kick.

I'm pretty convinced that he'll play, but the potential affect on that explosiveness (lack there of, actually) is what worries me. I'm hoping that it's a simple, well-placed pain killing shot and he's good to go.

Was anyone else surprised when he got run down on that long pass play to start the 2nd half?

I'd like to see is some clarity on what the injury is. Hip flexor, labrium, groin, etc??

It's troubling that Julio wouldn't talk about it, but it wasn't severe enough to get an MRI, so...........

He wanted back in on Monday night. Coach's decision to keeping him in the cooler. I have to take that as a positive sign. My fear is the same as FreeBaGel - plays, and plays badly (as opposed to missing entirely). That said, if he's a go, I'm playing him.

As far as the MRI goes... Foster didn't need one either, and then he missed the next 3 weeks (with a bye).

If you can - grab Harry Douglas...if Julio doesn't play - he should put up good numbers against the Steelers porous secondary.

Two crazy and wildly disparate thoughts pop into my head

1) coaches didn't want to see him get more beat up in a game they had already conceded in their heads

2) Bo Jackson injury

I don't think the coaches conceded that game....they were fighting to the end, and were still in the game until the Packers were able to get first downs and run the clock out.

Hope it is not Bo Jackson-esque

I do find it a little strange that their is no diagnosis of the injury....but, I am reading that as a good sign.

To me it looked like the defender has an excellent angle and Julio still almost scored. Funny, I was impressed with it and you seem to have seen it quite different. Not saying you're wrong and I'm right, just an observation.

I thought JJ had the angle to the far pylon, but he decided for a cut back to the split the two trailing defenders. Maybe he thought he wouldn't beat them to the pylon, or he thought the cut back move would work. I didn't think he looked any more gassed/hampered then a WR that just sprinted 80 yds in the 3rd quarter.

“He’s made a good turnaround [and] we’re not even 48 hours from the end of the game,” Smith said during on a conference call with Pittsburgh reporters. “We anticipate that he’ll continue to progress as the week goes on. We all know when you have your best players you have a better opportunity to go out and compete, and we’re certainly hoping that the turnaround continues and that we will have [Jones] on Sunday. Julio is one of the most competitive guys that I’ve ever been around.”

I read this earlier today but did not want to mention it until waivers ran so I could grab Harry Douglas where I could.

@steelz022 I don't think Julio Jones plays this week. We'd -- team AJC -- would be surprised if he plays.

So that is obviously negative and made me increase my interest in Douglas but that was sent very early this morning. Here are some more positive followups.

#Falcons coach Mike Smith said Julio Jones and safety William Moore will play if they are ready by Sunday. They don't need to practice.

#Falcons WR Julio Jones is walking just fine after his hip injury. He showed up late during open locker room.

Smith was later asked if he's optimistic about the potential availability of Jones and Moore to play on Sunday.

"Absolutely," Smith said. "We are anticipating that both those guys will continue the turnaround. We've had a big turnaround and it hasn't even been 48 hours. Both of those guys are guys that don't need to go out and practice. If they're ready to go at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, both of those guys will be out there."

Julio not practicing today. Some speculation by Dr. Chao (former Chargers team doctor) that this is a Hip Flexor injury. Anyone know how bad that is?

i think he needs the rest/treatment more than the practice at this point. it's a GTD, pure and simple.
