WR Julio Jones, Retired (2 Viewers)

He's been gimpy since he entered the league. Nothing has changed there. Still, he produces. Always has. Took me to a title last year. Biggest reason I'm 3-0 this year.

Man, I just missed him by 1 pick in one league. I got him in 1 of 3 (third had no chance). You just knew he was going to be ridiculous. I had him last year during that GB game and it was just so apparent how good he was. I really hope (non FF wise) that he, Green, OBJ and others stay healthy. Just fun to watch these guys. It's pretty cool having so many WRs that seem like they are on the Moss/Rice level.

This guy is the best WR in the league right now. He has always been a physical freak, but he looks bigger than ever. He's almost like TO with 4.3 speed and hands. He looks like a different species entirely from the other players on the field.
I'm kind of wondering if he's a little too big. Hard to argue with the success he's having so far, but the dude looks like a tight end out there. Seems like that bulk could put him at higher risk for lower body injuries.
He actually said this offseason that he dropped 5 lbs to 224.

He might look like a tight end, but he's not that big.

I ain't buyin' it. Dude looks almost as big as Jordan Reed.

Looks bigger to me, but honestly Reed is the softest NFL player I remember seeing. And by that I mean least cut. He's a stud, its just strange how out of shape he looks. Julio looks like a monster in comparison, they just carry their weight differently.

Julio will finish #1, we all know that. The question is should he have been taken #1 overall?
I took him #1 overall in 2 leagues. (out of 4 money leagues I am in)

In these leagues we start 3WRs, though I don't know that, THAT makes a that big of difference when drafting. (standard scoring, start 2 RBs also)

I certainly like my teams better when I can get two stud WRs, though I am often scrambling for mediocre RB production.

I got him at #9 in another one of the leagues. He was snagged just before me in the 4th league, so I got DT instead.

There was laughter in the 2 leagues where I got him at #1, including one guy who is actually a fairly smart manager he said "you can have that bum".

There are no more laughs coming from the other owners anymore.

That took some balls. IIRC you said in another thread you were gonna do this before you drafted. I have him in one league and wish I had him in more. I've always been a little hesitant with the injury history but the talent is sure there!

Correct, I referred to it in a couple of posts I think, one of which was just before my last draft of the year.

I think its right here, or in this thread. ---> https://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index.php?/topic/731964-your-oddest-1-pick-ever/?p=18329643

It may seem ballsy, and I didn't think I was going to do it, but when I was faced with a last minute decision, I just said "F*&^ it, you are super high on the guy and no way he will make it back to you....stick to your guns".

(In the only two drafts where it was possible for me to get a #1 pick, I did this year, how unlucky/lucky)

In my other leagues we pull for draft slot choice.

I think I made some of the argument why I did it in the thread too.

I was a little bit skittish, which is part of the reason I made that post, now that I think back on it.

For what its worth, I was similarly high on Demaryius Thomas last year too. I nabbed him in all three leagues I played in, even though I drafted later in each, like 7th or 8th.

I don't much like running backs early, so its just a matter of finding who I think will be a top 3 WR or so, then having the belief to back my opinions.

LATE EDIT- Note that one guy mentioned right in that thread "terrible pick", concerning me getting Julio. :pickle:

Apparrently he now has a toe to go with his hammy. Problem with having a player as awesome as Julio is that the thought of losing him is especially worrisome. Good problem to have, I know, but...

Julio Jones (toe, hamstring) was not present for the start of Thursday's practice.
Jones wasn't at Wednesday's practice either. Any time a player as significant Jones misses two straight practices, it's a red flag. With that said, we'd still expect Jones to play Sunday against Houston. He's singlehandedly led the Falcons to a 3-0 start.

especially when julio is currently your crutch for having poop at RB like I do :)

week 2 he was dnp, dnp to start the week... we'll have to see what quinn says after practice

He's not that far off in height and weight at 6'3 225 or so, but I guess that's what happens when you compare one of the smallest TEs to one of the biggest WRs. Big wide receivers are big.

Julio is heading in the wrong direction. In previous weeks he was listed as questionable until Fri. when he was upgraded to probable. This week he's going into the game as questionable. I would have hoped that all the rest he's had over the past couple of weeks (only played 55% of snaps last week) would have made him whole agian. At this rate he's bound to miss time sooner than any Julio owner had expected. Getting slightly concerned.

I am as well. Almost wonder if it would be best to give him a week off to heal than slowly grind him down and lose him come FF playoff time.

I think the Falcons share your strategic vision, actually. But for them, resting him up so he doesn't wear down for the NFL playoff is likely to coincide with your FF playoff.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Julio Jones is expected to play Sunday versus Washington, but his hamstring problems "are a concern to (the) Falcons."

But Glazer and PFT make it sound like a game time decision. He's going to run full speed in warm ups and if it doesnt respond he might sit with the short turn around on Thursday.

Decoy Time...Julio put everything he had into those first 3 games...now its time to play Master Decoy and let Hankerson get some points...

If Julio is a Decoy .. then Cinderella effect on Freeman goes bye bye ..say hello to 8 in the BOX

Wow he was obviously running gingerly on that catch.

I think the reason Roddy White is already broken down is because he refused to sit when injured. Don't let that happen to Julio Atlanta medical staff.
