Justin Jefferson has been named the Associated Press’ Offensive Player of the Year.
The OPOY award has essentially become the best “non-quarterback” on offense. Jefferson is the third receiver to take home the honors in the past four years, joining Cooper Kupp and Michael Thomas. Although he had the benefit of 17 games, Jefferson’s 1,809 yards were the sixth most in league history, while his 128 receptions were seventh most. He had 99 more receiving yards than runner up Tyreek Hill in 2022. A proven dominator at all three levels of the field, Jefferson has seen his receiving yardage jump from 1,400 to 1,616 to this year’s 1,809. Still four months shy of his 24th birthday, Jefferson certainly seems to have what it takes to become the first 2,000-yard wideout in NFL history.
