WR Justin Jefferson, MIN (2 Viewers)

Greenard is not as good as Hunter. I think he's good but he isn't top 5 good like Hunter has been.
I think they are pretty close and that Greenard can get there (maybe top 10 not top 5). He is two years younger and I think in more of a rotation previously. His numbers were less than Hunter last year but not by a ton (about a tackle less per game and 4 sacks less for the season). Don't get me wrong I am a huge Hunter fan but I like Greenard a lot too. I don't think Hunter will be missed as much as he could have been. I am looking forward to watching Greenard, Turner, and Van Ginkel get after the QB this year.

Yeah I am not criticizing Greenard at all I just think Hunter may be underappreciated how good he has been and I think he still has it.

The lack of other good pass rushers allowed teams to double Hunter pretty consistently.

I think having more depth at Edge will be greater as a sum of the rushers in rotation than what the Vikings had. I just wouldn't say any of them are as good as Hunter individually. At least not yet. They would need to prove that.

Per threads on Instagram a Vikings account called MNVikingsNation claims O'Connell said "day to day with a quad contusion."

I hope that's true because it's probably the best we could hope for.

Quad Contusion. His walk looked fine and was at a normal pace. It sounds like they were being pretty cautious. I suppose you will be pretty careful when you pay a player like that. That said, he is going to be sore tomorrow. It will be interesting to see his practice participation next week. They have Houston next week.

I watched the game. Looked like he was leg whipped. Yeah, gonna hurt and since they were controlling the game they took him out. Good call on that. I wouldn't bet the house but I would bet more than pocket change he plays next week.

Still waiting on that monster game but you can’t hate a nice 20 on Thursday
This was almost like a Lamb game. Started so hot and then nothing in the second half. We JJ owners are a bit spoiled and expect a TD each game.
Pretty much all season as far as the first half be 2nd half targets. Some games because they had a big lead, but should have been peppering him tonight in the 2nd half.

Next Gen Stats
Justin Jefferson caught 7 of his 9 targets for 137 yards against the Colts, generating a season-high +53 receiving yards over expected.

Jefferson accounted for over half of the Vikings' air yards (53.4%) for the third time this season.

First year I've owned JJ. I was thrilled to see him drop to 1.7 in my redraft league this year.

1.8Chase, J
1.7Jefferson, J
1.6St. Brown, A
1.5Lamb, C
1.4Hall, B
1.3Robinson, B
1.2Hill, T
1.1McCaffrey, C

I know recency bias is playing a part because I've watched some great ones, but Jefferson is on the short list of the best WRs I've ever watched in the NFL. He does something amazing every single game I watch him. I don't really remember a WR this complete unless I go back to Jerry Rice, but could you imagine Jerry with today's gloves and today's rules?

Larry Fitzgerald is the closest comp I can come up with for JJ, but JJ is smaller, more explosive and faster. I did love me some Larry though.

Megatron and Moss deserve mentions as well because they were borderline unstoppable for a time but they're also probably the two most physically gifted WRs of all time. JJ is not that. He gets the most of what he has, and he is one of the smartest players in the game. It's rare when a WR can elevate everyone around him, but JJ does exactly that. That's exceedingly rare in football outside of the QB position.

I bought McCarthy after his injury, mainly because of JJ. He can make any QB look good on the stat sheet. With Hock and Addison as well, this team is setup pretty nicely for FF purposes if McCarthy can be adequate. I actually like the fact that he is sitting this year absorbing the offense and learning what it takes at this level.

Next Gen Stats
Justin Jefferson was the intended receiver on all three of Sam Darnold's interceptions against the Jaguars; all three were against split-safety coverage.

On the season, Jefferson has accumulated +29.1 EPA when targeted against single-high and -7.8 EPA against split-safeties.

Something is not right with JJ recently. He been ok, but so much is expected from the top WR in the NFL according to many. What besides Sam do you think is the problem?

Its what everyone feared from the get go...Darnold sucks

He came out hot but he has settled into being Darnold. JJ isn't a must start anymore if you have some firepower on the bench

It's the defensive scheme. Was multiple articles wrote about it last week when Jags used split safety coverage more then any team had all season to try and take him out. Vikings anticipated seeing it a lot more going forward.

Here is one such article if you can access it: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/59...-jefferson-vikings-jaguars-two-high-safeties/

You serious, Clark?

This was actually a pretty exciting week for JJ given how bad Darnold looked last week.

Darnold and the offense looked good. As long as that keeps happening, the JJ spike weeks will come.

Not sure what people thought when Darnold was named the QB. There have not been too many huge JJ weeks, but he has a pretty consistent (8/10 games with 15 or higher, 6/10 with 20 or higher in PPR.)

Tough crowd when people are mad about 6 for 81.

Yes nothing like expecting more than that from our wr1 who was constantly a top 1-3 pick. Jauan Jennings got more than him on the bench and I'm not sure the other JJ isn't the better start
Every player has off games. In my league championship game in 2022, JJ's stats were 1/5 REC, 15 YD = 2.5pts. He had scored 30+ pts the 3 previous weeks running and was the #1 WR on the season. Needless to say, I lost that Championship. It happens!

He has not been a dominant force at WR this year. Certainly not "in the discussion for #1 overall fantasy pick" dominant.

Yes, he has a high floor, but the roof seems a lot lower than previous years. With Chase lapping the field at WR peeps are just frustrated.
