WR Kadarius Toney (1 Viewer)

It does feel like he is gonna have something "going on" quite often...what scares me about something like this is it means his inner-circle is either inept or a bunch of yes men because there is no way they should be letting him on social media if he has the potential to post nonsense like this...talent-wise this kid looks like he could be something very special...it is always impressive when someone looks more athletic then other pro athletes and this kid stands out...I own him on both my Dynasty teams and feel like he has Tyreek Hill potential but like Hill it could be a very bumpy ride...owning Toney is gonna be like having kids, you're always going to be worried about him.
Agreed, it is sad to say but I can't see this kid making it long in the NFL.  It is a shame when talent like his isn't matched up with common sense.

Well put

Million dollar talent, 10 cent brain

I guess I have to object somewhat here.  Hill pleaded guilty in 2015 to domestic assault and battery by strangulation of the woman who is (I believe) currently his wife.

In a 2019 audio recording following an injury to their son: In the recording that surfaced, Hill and his fiancée discuss their son's broken arm; she says that their son is scared of him, to which Hill responds, "You should be afraid of me too."

Of course, we should be clear here that Hill was found to have no role in the injury his son incurred.

That said, the incidents involving Kadarius Toney are peanuts compared to Hill's track record.

Reading way too much into this…I am not saying Toney is going to commit a crime as the Hill incident you highlight is way on the extreme…what I am saying is Hill had personality questions dogging him and has provided some headaches to his Owners over the years…Toney is showing some signs that he will have some bumps in the road as well…he is still very young and hopefully he matures but when you see a post like the one about Riggs you have to be a little concerned.

Thanks - I probably read too much into it.

Something tells me the ol “nfl stands for not for long” might be for this kid

Outside of grammar and diction I see nothing wrong with Toney's statement.

He said that Ruggs did something stupid, Ruggs understands the gravity of his actions, we should show empathy instead of judgement and to pray for all parties involved.

There was nothing malicious or insensitive about his comments.

Yep and Carr said basically the same thing just more eloquently and is getting praised for it.

If I knew someone that committed a crime like that I'd still love and support them without defending their actions.

That's BS.  Here in NY on both sports radio stations they were bashing Carr and Toney.  The timing of their statements is ridiculous.  Imagine being that woman's family and hearing that.  Ruggs made a conscious choice that resulted in a woman being burned alive.  Maybe there is time for forgiving him but there is no way that is one day after he did it.

The one thing that Carr has is he is coming from a religious place.  I don't agree with it but at least he had reasoning.  Toney didn't have any.

This is a strange and emotionally disturbing story, even to those of us who aren't anywhere near directly involved. We're each reacting to it in our own way. Some choose to make sense of this non-sensical event by viewing Ruggs as an absolute, fully contemptable monster. Others are able to compartmentalize and hate the act, rather than the man. I think either stance or some grey in between is completely understandable, given the circumstances and gravity of this situation.

It doesn’t matter what you think.

You think Mara feels the same way as you?

His coach had this to say -

Joe Judge spoke to his team and Kadarius Toney about his comments on the Henry Ruggs tragic incident. “It’s important how we articulate our words,” Judge said. “And watch what we say at the same time.”

Hes getting ripped in the court of public opinion.

AR15 in college, throwing punches on the nfl field…..he hasn’t been in the league for half a season lol.

Now drawing attention to himself on this.

Maybe stay off social media ..

Good luck defending this kid in the long term

It's not B.S., sports radio in NY was wrong and were playing up our societal hair-trigger outrage trying to capture earballs.

His coach made a statement to all the people who flip on their outrage alarms at the slightest perception of offense.  He made a statement to play to both sides of the fence and make sure there was no dip in revenue. Businesses make decisions to maximize revenue, which is exactly what Judge's statement was designed to do.

An honest interpretation of all the outrage towards Toney's statement does not reflect well on the outraged.

Meh, no outrage here

I don’t care if he has a hof career or craps out in a year or two

My statement was that I have a feeling he won’t be around too long.
Again…trouble in college, throwing punches on the field in a game, saying what a lot of people think was stupid on social media….we’re not even halfway through his rookie season here

Good luck defending this guy 👍

I didn't follow him in college so I won't speak to that. There has been nothing to defend as a pro.

It’s not a hair trigger. Ruggs did a horrible thing. I don’t blame NY media, for chastising him. One day later this WR (with a troubled past) gets on his soapbox defending Ruggs.

There is no way Toney can be that tone deaf and last in this league.

Again, Toney did not defend Ruggs.

He very clearly said that Ruggs did something stupid, Ruggs understands the gravity of his actions, we should show empathy instead of judgement and to pray for all parties involved.

The outrage over Toney's comments is not a good look on anyone who pretends not to understand it.

Sorry, but if you drive 156 MPH cocked at 3:39 in the morning you do not deserve one ounce of empathy...this isn't someone who had a glass and a half of Pinot Noir with dinner and was a .09 and hit someone that they did not see in a crosswalk while going the correct speed limit...not saying that scenario is OK but I can give empathy there...what Ruggs did is 100% unacceptable in our society and he killed someone due to it...Toney's a young kid and said someone stupid here...not the first and won't be the last but if you are a pro athlete you are gonna have more eyes and ears on you then the normal person but saying "we young...everybody makes mistakes" does not apply to what Ruggs did here...and to go out of your way to post it on twitter for the public to see is just a real bad look and a total lack of self-awareness.

Empathy stops at 155mph?

He offered his opinion, and you call it stupid when you have elected yourself the arbiter of empathy

Yup...I feel fine saying driving drunk at 153 MPH at 3:30 in the morning and killing a girl doesn't deserve empathy and I sure as hell wouldn't file it under the everybody makes mistakes category.

Thats your perspective and opinion.  You're entitled to it.  As I'd say Toney is entitled to his.

We have people that pray for an have empathy for those on death row.  I think the world is better for that.  Thats my opinion

What about the person who blows a 0.16 but drives the speed limit and  hits someone in the intersection they didn't see?

Empathy?

What about the stone cold sober person who drives 156mph and hits another car causing killing the other driver?

Empathy?

Or the person who blows a 0.16, drives 156 mph on city streets and makes it home safely?

Empathy?

What about the worst thing you have ever done?

Empathy?

Do you have a comprehensive rule book you can point us to that determines clear empathy/no empathy cut off points?

Are y'all talking empathy or judgement here? Writing off someone because of a wicked mistake is judgement. You can still be empathetic toward Ruggs and still want justice to be done.

Hope the kid's life changes and this doesn't destroy him. If he plays football again, I hope it's after a lot of counseling and wise decisions.

Hope the family gets justice, but sadly, none of this will return her life. Nothing Ruggs does will ever make this Ok, but he could make is "better" by his future actions.

It's all so so sad and so wrong. Be cool to each other, fellas.

I do...the empathy cut-off for me is 156mph at 3:30 in the morning drunk (twice the legal limit) when you kill someone and effect their family forever...I think that is pretty fair place for the empathy cut-off and while I have more then my share of things from my youth I am not proud of, nothing comes remotely close to this scenario.

So anything up to that point gets empathy and anyone like Toney or me who thinks otherwise is wrong to feel that way.

And apparently 0.15 bac & 150 mph is okay.

Is that where you've really landed on the issue?

I will take it on a case by case basis and your attempt to involve other scenarios/deflect is not working with me...in this case based on the known facts my vote is on no empathy...if you want to give your empathy ("where you land on the issue") to someone who just killed someone minding their own business because they were twice the legal limit and driving 156mph I guess we just look at the world differently...probably best to move on unless you can stick to this specific situation and can show me that besides the generic "he's a fellow human being" why I should give Ruggs an ounce of empathy for his actions and their consequences which will needlessly haunt a family forever.

So... how's Toney going to play tomorrow?
This game is really tough to call. First off Jones is streaky as heck, he looked jittery in the pocket on Monday. It's tough to read from my couch but it seemed he was worried about the pass rush a lot more than the reality warranted.

That's a big problem because the Raiders defensive line is the best unit on the team and one of the better units in the league. They absolutely have the ability to make this a long day for Jones without bringing an extra man, which Gus Bradley rarely does.

On the plus side Toney has no injury designation and Sterling Shepard is out. It looked like Toney was running a lot of short to intermediate blitz breaking & safety valve routes last week so he may slide into Shepard's role more naturally than Golladay who should (may?) play this week. He may be in line for a lot of work.

The X-factor is of course what kind of Raiders team is going to show up on Sunday. It's already a cross country, early start which is a disadvantage. But how does Ruggs absence impact the team? As a practical matter the Giants safeties will be playing much closer to the LoS. But what is the Raiders psyche ATM? I am not sure there are many instances of such a rough run of in-season and off-field distractions to compare this to. Personally I think this team feels like they have the ability to rally and take an "Us against the World. Bring it!" mentality. But who really knows?

ATM I am luke warm on Toney. If you have specific WDIS questions jump into the thread on the front page.

I think some people go around searching for reasons to be indignant and self-righteous….

Reminds me of when Jameis was coming out of college and the talking heads would euphemistically refer to his “off-field troubles”. Let’s see, he stole some crab legs, got caught on video yelling something offensive … and allegedly raped a woman. One of these things is not like the other.

For me at least, I like Toney a lot more when Shepard is out and he's lined up inside more often. Most of those other NYG receivers are better suited outside IMO.

I’m guessing that Toney’s empathy for Ruggs comes from actually knowing Ruggs. Both former high school football stars from Alabama just a year apart and both were recruited by Alabama. They probably know one another.

About done with the Toney experiment in FF this year. Picked him up in 3 leagues earlier this year and it's been... not good.

Kadarius Toney caught his only target for nine yards in the Giants' Week 9 win over the Raiders.

[Ka-chan] "added" -2 yards on a failed wildcat snap that saw him blown up behind the line of scrimmage after taking the snap. Daniel Jones only attempted 20 passes but Toney's one target is still massively disappointing. The Giants' tight ends combined for nine targets while the running backs received five dump-offs leaving little room for any wideout to post a meaningful day. New York is on bye next week and then returns to face the Bucs in Week 11. If Sterling Shepard, who missed this game with a quad injury, is back for that game, Toney's role could continue to be limited. For now, we'll keep him in the low-end WR3 range coming out of the bye.
