WR Kadarius Toney (4 Viewers)

Kadarius Toney (hamstring) isn't practicing Wednesday.

Toney played seven snaps in Week 1 and then 28 in Week 2 before being inactive Week 3 with his injury. Seemingly always hurt, Toney has a big opportunity ahead of him with the Giants losing Sterling Shepard to a torn ACL this past Monday night.

Color me shocked.

Wonder when the Giants will realize they are just paying him to work on his rap album? It better be an all-timer with all this time he has to work on it instead of practicing.

I only roster him in 1 dynasty league and just hope he would get put on IR so I can free up his roster spot this year. Ugh.

I just dropped him for Njoku in dynasty. I was semi hoping I would get outbid, but I didn’t. Still not 100% sure how I feel about this, but it’s done and my roster spot has been freed up!

Interesting college numbers... this guy is the football equivalent to vapourware.
I'm not a big college guy, but not sure what he did in college to earn that 1st round (#20 overall) pedigree.
Dude is explosive as hell - the only thing in question here is his motivation and drive/determination isn't something you can force a guy to have. I think that is the reason he was an avoid for most teams and scouts but we saw it last year... when he had the ball in his hand, he was as elusive as a coked up jackrabbit. Part of me wishes he would join the Cowboys but part of me doesn't want to deal with the headache. I wouldn't want to play catch with Danny Dimes either...

Whether his body can hold up is also a pretty huge question.

Sure did seem explosive in very short glimpses last year. The operative word being "short" given his inability to stay on the field. Of course, it's also a matter of whether he can be a consistent route runner - explosiveness takes you only so far in the NFL.

Fair point.. but JaMarcus Russell could throw a ball 60 yards from his knees too.

It would seem a lot of emphasis was placed on Toney's highlight reel ability and less on the fairly limited body of work. Of course when trouble comes knocking, people to tend to revisit some of the potential risks that were maybe de-emphasized prior to making the pick. Obviously only he and the team doctors know how hurt he is but the persistence of the injuries and growing frustration with the lack of production are how questions about motivation start to creep in. The only thing easier to fake than a soft tissue injury is sincerity...

"elusive as a coked up jackrabbit" - That's funny!
Here is an example of that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFtlndPHFVA

I forget where I saw it but someone referred to Toney as the WR version of Christine Michael. Just enough flashes to keep us thinking it would eventually come together. At some point the athletic ability doesn't matter if the durability and/or work ethic aren't there.

Kadarius Toney (hamstring) won't play in Week 4 against the Bears.

With Toney and Wan'Dale Robinson out this week, the Giants will start Richie James, David Sills, and Kenny Golladay at receiver. James leads the trio with 17 targets on the year. He has some low-end FLEX appeal based on his role, but betting on the Giants has proven to be a risky proposition this year.

The guy is just unreal…I clicked on the thread to see the updates and it’s the same old thing. He’s either the most unlucky player with injuries or completely soft. I can’t see how anyone can really be this unlucky unless he just does not take care of himself whatsoever. You can’t miss nearly all of your first 2 camps and seasons with hammy injuries….crazy

it has been about one year since we got one positive report on him…and that streak doesn’t appear to be in danger any time soon.

I’m sure this is a big part of the reason he’s fallen out of favor with Daboll - doesn’t appear to be a guy that, despite all the talent in the world, really “wants it”.

I’m going to make a sizable bid for Wan’dale in this week’s waivers - he’s obviously hurt too, but at least he’s the handpicked guy in this regime.

not sure what the deal with Toney is, does he not take care of himself? Bad diet? Hates to practice? Totally soft?
Obviously he could give a cap about getting healthy, practicing and playing by his actions.

He has all the tools to be a very good receiver but does not seem to want to do anything with them.
I don't expect to see him do anything even if he practices and plays.

How can Daboll even like him at this point, he never practices with the team.

Adding I like how DaBoll is handling him. Challenging him to show him if he wants to work and play
He is not going to play unless he practices and gets serious about being a pro

Kadarius Toney (hamstring) practiced on a limited basis Wednesday.

It is a step in the right direction for Toney, who DNP-ed all last week. Toney's history of setbacks means nothing can be taken for granted, but a practice this early in the week gives him a decent chance to return against the Packers. Toney was deep in the dog house before his injury, but the Giants are extremely thin at receiver right now. Coach Brian Daboll will have no choice but to use Toney once he is healthy.

Coaches have to be losing their minds. Is this kid drinking every night showing up to practice dehydrated? At what point do they just IR him and make room for a guy who can stay on the field? Cannot imagine there are too many teams calling inquiring about a trade any longer.

seriously though, how do you hurt the other hamstring when you aren't even practicing or you're walking through drills on a limited basis? this is why I think that Toney just doesn't have an interest in pushing himself and playing. It just doesn't seem possible that he can have as many injuries as he's had and miss as many games as he has in 1 1/4 years without being soft or is looking for excuses not to play.

how can you trade for a guy that can't even get on the field? he can't help you win from the press box.

A co-worker of mine in college once called in to say he could not make it to work at the liquor store because he had a flat tire. Our boss asked why can't he just put on a spare and he said that he actually had 4 flat tires. Boss man told him he'd never seen that in his life and might like to drop by and take a look. Dude just said forget it man, I quit.

I had forgot all about this guy until Toney recently reminded me of him.

There were rumors at the beginning of the season of teams inquiring. That window has shut I assume.

Toney (hamstring) will not participate in Wednesday's practice, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.
Toney suffered a fresh hamstring injury last week and is now reportedly dealing with strains or soreness in both legs. If the 2021 first-round pick doesn't upgrade to at least limited activity Thursday, it will bode poorly for his chances of suiting up versus the Ravens on Sunday. Kenny Golladay (knee) also isn't practicing Wednesday, while Wan'Dale Robinson (knee) will be limited.

Get this man all the bubble wrap in the state of New Jersey STAT!!

This is not meant as any defense or explaining away of whatever is going on. It just seems a bit odd that Toney hasn't been placed on IR. It doesn't seem like he's practiced for more than one day in a month at this point.

I'm guessing there's something more going on behind the scenes, not that it makes the situation any clearer.

It should be noted, though, that Wan'Dale Robinson was never placed on IR despite missing four straight weeks to date.

This might be bias from me and all but I would definitely enquire. If he can get healthy he can be a game changer. If I'm Howie I'm at least enquiring. Zach Paschal is here for the year and other then a spurt here and there from Quiz Watkins Eagles still need depth. The QB Coach here was UF's QB coach when Toney was at UF and I'm sure they could scheme some plays up for him. Plus he can return punts and out return specialist haven't been great. Low risk High reward for anyone who takes him IMHO though

I know we'll never get the answer, but this really is a weird situation. I'm struggling to recall a team that holds a roster spot for a non-QB player that they essentially aren't going to use.

I've said before in this thread when the Eagles were doing their coaching search Brian Dabol was a name we had on our list. A few people made some mentions of Diabol character as a coach. Nothing substantially bad but apparently can rub people or players the wrong way. If you get off on the wrong foot with him you are pretty much in the dog house for good. I could see contrasting of egos with Toney and Dabol not getting along here. There were even reports well before camp everyone including Barkley was available for trade at the right price with the new regime in tow.

This is just speculation on my part though nothing concrete other then the reports I read about the HC awhile back

The Giants are a bit of a tough spot because of the 1st round draft capital they used on Toney last year. My guess is that they're hoping that Toney gets healthy and falls in line with the program. And if not, they'll probably cut bait after the season.

I don't think their is anything wrong in the least with Daboll and Toney's relationship or there is anything weird at all about him not being put on IR or something else is brewing.

Soft tissue injuries are difficult to get a timeframe on and not only did Toney have a setback on one he apparently hurt the other.

The only mystery here is how on earth can one guy have so many injuries to so many body parts. I truly can't recall anything like it.

Not sure about that, but on the other hand, sometimes social media can make it to be a lot more of an issue than it really is.

What has social media made of their relationship? What are people basing them having a negative relationship on?

There were rumors dating back to this past year's draft that the team was looking to trade Toney, that he didn't manage to pick up his playbook in the offseason. I'm sure a lot of it is overblown speculation, but something doesn't seem right with the relationship.

So in other words nothing.
