WR Kadarius Toney (2 Viewers)

Chiefs need to trade for Mike Evans

This is the answer...they need to be on the phone this morning for evans, or aiyuk or someone else that can be counted on.
Rooting for Godwin. He’d catch a million balls in this offense.
That would be a great fit, but I didn't know Tampa was considering moving him.

It looks like they're keeping Evans now anyways and he'll retire a Buc.

Took a flier on him based on opp, and physical talent.......yea, he looks like a bust. His confidence has go to be in the crapper. His teams confidence in him has got to be in the crapper. I'm not gonna say he lost the game for the Chiefs........but he kinda did. I don't like to drop guys after week one, but I might make an acception with Toney.......since he likes to drop stuff.

Karadius Toney's PFF grade last night is the worst single-game grade given to a WR since 2018.
Reply from some guy in twitter

How could a WR get a worse grade? Pull out a gun and shoot Mahomes?
Ha, very Jesse Ventura question.

I suppose he could have lost a fumble on the end around.

The one semi-positive thing I can say for Toney is at least he was getting open.

Just speculation on my end. I think Tampa is going to quickly pivot to the Caleb Williams race.

When healthy, and in a limited sample size, Toney looked electric with the Giants. I haven't seen too many NFL players move with such suddenness - I remember thinking he had a chance to be a major stud, a star in NY. He is not the same player now, maybe injuries have taken their toll on his body or his self-confidence or both. I wish him well but I don't think he is long for the NFL, I guess that's probably stating the obvious at this point. But he looked special in NY.

Toney had only two games with more than 40 receiving yards in the 12 games he played with the Giants (to go along with 12 games he didn’t play in). He flashed in one game. The Giants didn’t have great options at WR and welcomed the chance to move on from him. When teams that don’t have much at a position group still don’t want you, that can’t be a good sign.

The “one game” was against the Cowboys. He looked so good. He made Diggs look foolish on a few plays. I don’t know him, but it seems like it’s a will thing and not a skill issue. The kid is super talented can can play in this league.

He looked unbelievably electric that game and I remember trying to trade for him in my dynasty league. I won that trade because it was not accepted. I still think he has a chance (long shot) to be special, but he has some major hurdles to climb (injuries, mentality).

He's just not a WR and never has been. He's still an "athlete" like a kid coming out of HS. Can he make defenders miss like crazy in the open field? For sure. Can he do much else? I haven't seen it.

To each their own, but I disagree completely. Obviously Thursday night he looked terrible but he has never looked awkward with his hands like that before. His two good games as a rookie were winning on his routes and making good hands catches, not running gadget plays with YAC. In college they tried to use him as a gadget guy like Percy Harvin in his early years and he sucked at it. Then in his senior year they used him as more of a traditional WR and that's when he broke out.

He's actually never been particularly good with the ball in his hands at any level. People have tried to use him like that because of his athleticism, but when he's been really good it has always been as a traditional WR. Obviously he's a long way from playing well now and may never get back there, but if he does recover that's how he'll do it.

Andy Reid came out in his presser yesterday and basically said:

Toney really had no training camp. So Reid blamed himself for calling that many plays with Toney as a focus. They intended to get him out for a few plays just to get his feet wet from a game speed standpoint but used him more than intended.

Now, that is Reid covering his guy. But I would bet money that Toney is going to get some balls thrown his way early and often against the Jags. Reid has done this a hundred times since becoming a Chiefs coach. If a guy drops a ball he normally goes right back to him.

Are people angry enough to sell low? I bet not.

At this point what would you consider selling low?
I dunno, and I'm in dynasty/keeper only, so that skews it, but my observation is that people have a bit of a blind spot with the Chiefs. MVS, Hardman, CEH, Skyy and now Toney and even Ross, like six RBs named Williams....

Bunch of roster cloggers, really. Yet people hold them.

Thinking of rolling this guy out today. Week 1 was terrible but this guy has talent. Can't imagine he doesn't bounce back.....of course he might get hurt in pre-game so will see.

I am starting him this week in a 14 team over gus Edwards as my last flex option.

Although I have the better team and am trying for a ceiling play.

I think the talent is there, although I am leaving him on the bench in another dynasty league.

Not as much chatter this week, huh?
Gotta give this kid credit for bouncing back from the worst game a WR could play. Caught all 5 of his targets for only 35 yards, but a good sign imo.

As a sub-package player he doesn't play many snaps (25% last week, 29% in Week 2), but when he's in he's targeted on a good number of those snaps (40%+ target rate Week 1, 31.5% in Week 2).

It's been reported that NYG came to think of him as a gadget player - which is what you are describing. Draw plays up specifically for him which gives him high utilization when in game

Kadarius Toney (toe) didn’t practice Wednesday.
The perpetually banged-up Toney is now nursing a toe sprain after catching five passes for 35 yards in Week 2 against the Jaguars. If he can’t practice tomorrow or Friday, fantasy managers should expect him to miss Week 3 against the Bears. That would open up more routes for Skyy Moore and Richie James, who is dealing with a knee injury.

Right on queue

Kadarius Toney (toe) was removed from the Week 4 injury report and will play against the Jets.

Toney was limited in practice throughout the week but avoided a questionable tag. His light practice sessions were likely nothing more than maintenance. Toney has remained in a limited role to start the season and will need to see more routes to be a viable fantasy option. He is buried beyond the WR5 range for Week 4.

Dropped him. Starting him has cost me two games by 0.5 this season. Someone else mentioned it in here... he's a gadget player.

You might as well pickup Deuce Vaughn or Laviska Shenalt / Terrace Marshall if you want a roster clogger "project player".

From Daniel Jones to Patrick Mahomes, same result. Great punt return in the Super Bowl, gadget players are great for plays like that.

So this week is when he flashes in New York against The Jets and then trolls The Giants and the hype machine kicks into gear and then he makes like David Copperfield and vanishes.

And I trade his *** for a 2nd or even a high 3rd if he flashes at all. In FFPC, that roster spot is precious and he’s burning a hole in my roster.

I feel bad you had to start the guy. You must have horrible bench options. KT missed most of the preseason and shouldn't be sniffing lineups. He's a hold in deeper bench leagues and buy in bestball.

It was Week 1, I was excited!! Kelce was out. The world was his oyster. All the time spent hodling was about to pay off.

Then last week he was an obvious start against an awful Bears team, Chiefs will win by 30 and he'll pad some stats in garbage time.

Everyone was involved except him. My denial finally ended. Kadarius Toney is not fantasy relevant. He's the new Sammy Watkins. He'll have 1-2 big weeks out of nowhere and then go back to screwing you.

He is who we thought he was.

Too bad. He looked better than Rice last week.
Looks good when he plays, draws a pretty high target to snap share and they could really use him so yes this stinks but afraid is also par for the course.

Got hurt on his good punt return last week. Crazy thing is his hand/wrist looked like what he hurt, a Chiefs assistant said something about him dealing with an injury in that area and now they are saying it's his ankle and hip???

I push back when I can on the injury prone narrative or "this guy is made of glass" talk. But even I can't help but think of those two things when it comes to Toney. Just constantly always something, rarely ever even something major, just constantly something in a way I can't recall with any player in history to be honest.

I started cutting him for the first time this week in dynasty leagues after reading about how he was banged up on the punt return. Still holding a place or two but not for long.

Yeah, it might also be a case of “hurt or injured” where a lot of players play through these nagging injuries & Tony can’t or won’t.

I’m not in his head so I don’t know what he’s going through, but you look at a kid like Musgrave who played through a “significant” abdominal injury that he had to be hospitalized for, and didn’t say a word to the coaching staff, and it’s quite the difference.

Hate to call any player “soft” as I’d be crippled on one NFL snap, but Toney certainly isn’t durable.
