WR Kayshon Boutte, NE (1 Viewer)

Text of the tweet:
Louisiana State Police are investigating a fraudulent online gambling account alleged to have been used by former LSU wide receiver Kayshon Boutte bet close to 9,000 times from 4/22 to 5/23, 17 of those bets were on NCAA football games, with at least six on LSU football.

9000 bets is quite a bit in 13 months, that is over 30 a day. Betting on your own team in games you are playing is a pretty big no no. Can people share gambling accounts like they share Netflix accounts?

I saw on another site that he made $500k on these bets. If his NFL career doesn't pan out he could always start a 1-900 number for gambling picks (not sure if that is still a thing)

Well, at least we now know why he didn't have time to learn the playbook.

“Boutte’s performance during minicamp this past week was eye-opening. On Wednesday, he caught a team-high five passes. That included three catches in a row during a red zone drill with Drake Maye at quarterback. On one play, he jumped over cornerback Alex Austin for the touchdown. On the very next, he jumped over defensive back Mickey Victor for the score.”

Just when I was ready to write Boutte off for good, he goes and pulls a Michigan J. Frog. Time now to go back in your box. 🐸 Ribbit!

Some dummy accidentally bid on K Bourne instead of K Boutte with their faab in my dynasty league last night. Would have gotten Boutte by $1 had he selected the right guy.

It's me. I'm the dummy. This guy's definitely going to break out now.

Not many people talking about his increasing role but I think there is something here. Still only 22 years old too.
Happily surprised to net him in all of my (dyno) leagues despite minimum bids and poor waiver positioning. Dude out snapped both Polk and Douglas. He was more off than on as an amateur, but when he was on he was unstoppable.

Trying to decide which of my many backup RBs to drop for this guy as he sits on the waiver. Have a feeing he will carve up the Jags and it will be too late after this weekend. May have to go without a kicker this week.

I'll be watching this guy too, although probably don't have room to grab him. Very possible that despite the attention Pop Douglas is getting from the fantasy community, Boutte may be the one WR to have.

Took him over Vele for my last spot based on “what do I get if I win” logic realizing Vele was already 26. Not expecting much but seemed like a cheap bet on Maye at a much lower cost than spending the draft capital it would have taken to get Polk

Had a good stat line this last weekend. I am intrigued by this previously highly touted prospect, but anticipate the Pats aggressively adding weapons for Maye this off-season. Any input from NE fans, worth hanging onto?

What says Merry Christmas like a little Kayshon Boutte talk...Boutte has been one of the few bright spots for the Pats this year...he looks like a legit NFL WR and Maye seems to trust him...I don't think he will ever put up big numbers and my guess is he will end up being a better real WR then fantasy WR...if you have the roster space I think he is worth a spot at the back of your roster (at least during training camp) just in case he takes a big leap next year...he came into the league very immature and there is the possibility that as he grows up a little he could tap into the talent that excited people early in his LSU career but I also expect the Pats to bring in two WRs that in theory should be better than him so that won't help him fantasy-wise.

I'm not convinced any of the current WRs on NE are more than an NFL WR3 (and the one that would best fit that bill would be Douglas).

In their 10 starts with Maye, fantasy output by WR: (games with 20+ points, games with 10+ points, fantasy ppg in PPR leagues):

Douglas - 1, 4, 9.25
Boutte 1, 2, 8.17
Bourne 0, 1, 6.23
Polk 0, 0, 1.14
Baker 0, 0, 0.00

Douglas is hovering around WR60 in terms of PPG scoring. The Pats need to draft a young stud and sign a premium free agent. I am not sure NE can hit the target on either of those. Personally, I would rather they fix their OL before they move on to WRs. Chances are they will add to the WR room they have next year (and give whomever they bring in a chance to play more snaps than the guys they have on their current roster). A reason for concern for the guys they have is that they don't really have anyone to beat out . . . yet no one has stepped up to earn more looks / targets / production. One would think that Maye would have built up chemistry with somebody . . . and there really hasn't been a WR that falls into the "that's his main guy" category. By default, that mostly has fallen on Hunter Henry, but even his stats don't jump of the page.

I don't think you can really build much chemistry when guys just aren't that good...Henry is easily their most "professional" player which is why he has been Maye's most trusted target but he's never going to be a threat to be an All Pro...Austin Hooper has actually played well but he is a backup-level TE...as for Pop I was excited about him but he doesn't do much for me now...he is so small (listed at 192 but he seems much smaller then that) and there is nowhere near the big play ability I thought he could have...he's a legit NFL WR but he's more of a role player...as you point out he will never have a better opportunity to have fantasy-impact then this year and that hasn't happened.

I like that he's going to be only 23 going into his third NFL season. He's flashing and has chemistry with a promising rookie QB.
He’s still only 22. This past week was his first game over 60 yards receiving in 18 games played. I suppose players have to start somewhere. IIRC, of the WRs drafted last year and this year, he ranks 27th in career receiving yards. It’s been 35 games since the last time a NE WR had 100 receiving yards in a game. Q
