WR Kayshon Boutte, NE (1 Viewer)

His journey is very interesting.
I did not know much about him if it wasn't for this thread.
I'd like to see his usage when Diggs is ramped up to a full snap count.

He's still sitting on waivers in both of my 12 team redrafts. I opted for Fannin over him, and would have to drop Rachaad White or Hollywood for him so for now he continues to sit.

IIRC, Boutte was ahead of Nabers until he suffered that injury leading to him declaring for the draft. His player profile is strong and would have been a first round candidate in 2022.

It's odd we are propping up Diggs, who is two years removed from a productive season in the league. I am not saying Diggs is done but I am saying Boutte and Kyle Williams are the future of this offense and I could see Boutte finishing in the top 30. 6 receptions for 100+ yards (add a touchdown to that number and we are rolling).
To be fair, last season Stefon Diggs was on pace for 100/1054/6 while competing for targets alongside Nico Collins and Tank Dell until he tore his ACL in Week 8. Not the superstar he once was but he was productive working out of the slot for the Texans. It's doubtful he'll approach even that level of production this season between recovering from a serious injury and the offense he's playing in. But I also follow the money in these cases and the Pats aren't paying him $22.6 million in guarantees to not be featured. My fear with this offense as far as fantasy goes is who the top WR is may vary quite a bit week to week. There will be spike weeks from Diggs, Boutte, Douglas, Williams, maybe even Chism, at least until the pass game finds its identity. Momentum is on Boutte's side so far, apart from the current questionable tag. Will you ever feel comfortable about starting any of them on a given week? That's the real question.

On the ETR podcast, it was said that Diggs played primarily on the outside and just a little bit in the slot. I do not remember the percentages. However if that doesn’t change then Diggs is unlikely to produce as we are expecting.

His ADOT was almost 20 yards. I mean, Diggs post-ACL and Diggs last year could be totally different dudes.

Demario Douglas is just a slot player capable of 10 points but this offense is trending upward and I'll take the guy getting the most work, since the QB seems to trust him.

Was McDaniel the wr whisperer who lead to a Den wr, can’t recall his name, going ballistic many years ago?
Wasn’t Demaryius Thomas was it?
Brandon Lloyd was the guy. I remember him talking about McDaniels unlocking his potential, some of that in this article

Never had really done anything until McDaniels got him in

I had the 10th waiver pick this week and had him as my second option behind Q. Johnson and somehow ended up with him.

Full steam ahead!

Am I crazy to think about starting him over Pittman in my WR3 spot (lost Worthy already)? Pittman going against Denver D and Surtain.

Lucky to pick him up and may be forced to start him in the flex with J. Jennings banged up, D. Mooney questionable, and I. Pacheco sucking seaweed.

Miami secondary made D. Jones look like a superstar. This game has sneaky shootout potential.

The limited participation/questionable tag is likely just a little extra rest/treatment. Boutte was shaken up at the end of one of his catches early in week 1. He left his feet in an effort to evade a tackle and another tackler gave him a piledriver into the turf. Looked like he just came down hard on his right shoulder. He stayed down for a bit and was checked out by the training staff. Came out of the game but returned a few plays later (or the next series, I can't remember). Either way he made several more plays throughout the game so I think he's "fine" and probably dealing with soreness.

This dude totally flew under the radar for me this offseason, but there's a significant chance that he could be in process of morphing into a target hog in NE this year.

- Was an emergent beast at LSU before a significant ankle injury (which required two surgeries) derailed him as a sophomore in 2022.
- Prior to the injury, he finished his freshman year with three straight 100 yd games, including a SEC-record 14/308/3 in his final game that year.
- Started sophomore year with another banger going 9/148/3 week 1, and ultimately 38/504/9 in six games before getting hurt.
- 2022 junior year struggles with rehab dedication/maturity, clashes with coach and has a suck final season.
- Declares for draft and sucks in testing, possibly due to lingering ankle issues - or least that was suggested. Picked in rd 6.

- Rookie season starts zero games, finishes with 2 catches.
- Yr 2 (2024): 13 starts, 43/589/3 - but NE offense is mostly dumpster;
- Yr 2: in the only two games where he received 7 targets (two of the final three games to end the year),
- He went 5/95/1 and 7/117/1 avg'ing 19.0 and 16.7 YPR.
- Yr 3 (breakout?): quietly hyped by the team and NE media heading into the season;
- Comes out game 1 with 6/103/0 (17.2 YPR) on 8 targets and looks the part of an alpha WR1.

We'll see what happens, but trend is this dude's friend right now.

:ear to the ground: :hand on the wire:

I picked him up, and of course, I want to roll out my shiny new toy. Are any of you starting him this week? For me, it is him or Ridley.

Starting over Doubs and Mims, but not with a ton of confidence. Dude needs targets. Give him 7-8 minimum, and I feel a lot better. Unsure of that, I'd be leary of starting him over a guy like Ridley, who could easily end up with a 10+ target day this weekend/any weekend.

Good post.

Call me crazy (and the expert rankings would confirm I am), but I am starting him over Jeudy and Jameson Williams
I'm riding out the Worthy and Rice injury/suspension right now, and am also planning on starting Boutte over Williams this week.

The matchup against Miami is very enticing for Boutte and I'd like to see better O-Line play from Detroit before reinserting Williams into my lineup.

The only hesitation I have is that NE seems to always play like crap down in Miami every year.

This does seem like a rebound game for Miami, but maybe they rebound with a 38-35 win and Maye/Boutte do their thing.

I picked him up. And am highly skeptical. Think New England could have a different WR lead the team every week. Good luck picking which one. With that said, I am hopeful this train is out of control on Monday!

One of the things that I liked the most from highlights of last game was the chemistry that him and Drake had. A couple of those throws/catches made it look like they have been playing together for years. It is obvious Drake trusts him, the staff has been complimentary, offseason reports were glowing, WR Douglas was complimentary, end of last year was productive, and last week continued that. A lot of upward trajectory.

Douglas on Boutte
"Just his mindset, it switched on, and he's unstoppable," Douglas said of Boutte. "He's been balling since camp. Well, last year, they've seen it, but he's been balling."

I paid 17.3% in Shark Pool Dos
I paid 19.9% in Shark Pool Quattro
got him in SP Tres for 14.7% but not in my starting lineup this week. Don't know who I would bench.

I got him in 3 big national redrafts last night:

1 - 43.3% (22.7% next highest bid)
2 - 36.6% (22.6%)
3 - 37.7% (25.9%)

17.4, 28.8, 14.9, 36.7, 25.5, 12.5, 16.5, 28.0, 12.2 were also winning bids (not mine)

I got him in 2 dynasty wires last night:
1 - 28.8% (21.3%) - I also won Q Johnston in same run for 63.3% next highest 25.0% guess I overpaid
2 - 67.7% (19.2%) - ok little overboard I guess but it's dynasty and it looks like he might be a legit #1 and both of these leagues are start 3WR so thinner wires than usual

The way I look at it, even if he's fraudulent, he could be fraudulent and still walk into another big statline. If you have big output in the first two games to go with two of the final three from last year, leaguemates are going to take notice. Potential to sell at a really nice profit if you're not fully in. If he hits on the next two, then we're really talking about a haul from someone that wants to buy in thinking they're about to steal a Nico or Puka.

I don't think he's fraudulent, but skeptical that a WR1 pace is going to continue, sure.

Over/under 950 yards for the season (103 in the bank)?

No one claimed him on the WW in one of my leagues. I'd have to drop Stefon Diggs to pick up Boutte as a FA.
That’s too weird to do, even if it makes all the sense in the world - there’s nothing else you can do here?
… just to add onto my comment.

Diggs might just a fantasy “landmine” … someone you drop, and another spends FAAB or a waiver on, when you end up getting thee actual WR1 on the patriots

People are out of their mins they think this is another Puka Nacua situation. This is what I was paying for Puka 2 years ago.

Thu Sep 11 12:20am ET: Kayshon Boutte WR NE awarded to Pops Cowboy Haters for $810.

Definitely not saying this is another Puka Nacua situation but I remember there were a lot of doubters around Nacua early on. People were saying to “cash out” for a 2nd or 3rd and be happy with the profit. (In dynasty)

There’s a lot of stars aligning for Boutte. Ultimately I think it comes down to Maye. If Boutte is “his guy” and they keep developing this great chemistry, there could be a string of ~75 catch, 1,000 yard seasons in Boutte’s future. There’s no other alpha WR to stand in his way right now. Even if they draft and hit on a WR1 eventually, Maye, as he develops could support multiple fantasy relevant WRs.

I remember picking up Puka off the FA list...and he absolutely DESTROYED

I picked up my Boutte in two leagues...no risk, no reward.
