WR Kevin White, NO (1 Viewer)

Hard to compare White to any past busts.  White wasn't a bust because he was a terrible NFL player, he was terrible because he couldn't actually play due to health.  I've never seen anything this.
Yatil Green tore up his knee each of his first two seasons if I recall, but yeah this is pretty crazy to happen 3 years in a row.

This guy is on track to be one of the biggest FF busts ever. I can't remember too many other NFL first round picks who were more disappointing. Trent Richardson's career was garbage, but his rookie year was good in FF, especially in PPR. Justin Blackmon ruined his career, but...when he played, he was actually good. He helped win leagues in the 2012 FF playoffs. White is rivaling the likes of Rashaun Woods and Troy Williamson for uselessness.

The sick thing is that if you spent rookie picks on him, you still kinda have to keep him because he's played so little, we don't know for sure if he's any good.
We know for sure....hes toast

Tarik Cohen is crushing Kevin White in terms of dynasty fantasy football value right now.  One was a first round rookie draft pick and the other was likely picked in the third round.

That is a prime example of how quickly things change in the NFL.

Danario Alexander was 10x the player Kevin White was and he couldn't get a job because of all his bad luck with injuries. He's still only 29. His last workout was actually with the Bears. The Bears cut bait after White's contract is up if not sooner. Can't imagine anyone will touch him after that.

He is toast. Way to frail to play in the NFL.

I'm buying here in leagues with deep rosters. The cost should be minimal, talent is first round, there are no other competitors for WR1 status on the Bears right now, and Trubisky has a good shot of a significant step forward this season.

It would be criminal if they don’t add to 3 WRs in the off season. I’d expect them to sign 2 FAs like Robinson, Watkins, Wallace, Richardson, Pryor, Gabriel, Brown, etc. and use a 2nd or 3rd on another WR. You can’t trade up to the top 3 to take a QB and then give him a bunch of cut candidates and cast-offs at WR.

I'm willing to give White one more year, but ideally he enters the year as the #4 WR, and has to work his way up. He needs to stay healthy more than anything. I thought he was pretty decent with Hoyer in 2016 before he got hurt.

I don't think White can be valued as anything besides a hope-for-the-best longshot in real life or fantasy.

I would be absolutely shocked if the Bears do not add a WR in free agency who would automatically be ahead of White on the depth chart.  Cam Meredith is a bit of a wild card coming off an ACL injury, but all reports are that he's on track for a full recovery, and the coachspeak around him is positive at the moment.  I think it's reasonable to expect Meredith is the #2 receiver, assuming health, if the Bears add only one top talent in free agency.

They will almost certainly draft a receiver somewhere in the draft (hoping it's not round 1).

In other words, White is going to have to earn it.  Beyond the seemingly random series of injuries, we haven't seen anything from him yet to suggest it's going to happen (not that it won't, per se).

I'm just thankful I only got stuck with him in one league.  Anything he does right now is gravy, but I'm not expecting much.  He may soon be on most dynasty league waiver wires.

I agree, and to me this is the time to sell. Chicago will likely bring in wr competition, and hopefully some better talent. Meredith will be back and he looked like an nfl player when he was healthy. It the trade market white would fetch nothing, but now there’s a glimmer of hope. I bet you could get a late 2nd right now, because someone will be reading how they’re working together and skip the part where he’s rehabbing a shoulder injury (was that what put him out this year?). I think he’s likely be buried on the chart and get no targets, and end up being cut by owners. So get what you can, and at worst you can use that to move up elsewhere and free up a roster spot. That’s my take anyway, his name is out there, so someone may bite. His name might not get out there again this offseason especially if they are aggressive in fa and land ar15 or Watkins, or use an early pick again.

I agree, and to me this is the time to sell.
For what, though? At the price you'd get straight up, you're probably better off hanging on for one more training camp and see if he can finally shake the injury bug.

Maybe he's an add-in to put a trade over the top?

I think it is a time to buy versus sell. He can be had for peanuts and you are not going to get anything substantial for him at this point. He was a top ten pick who had elite measurable who just so happen to have the roughest start to a career that I can remember. Why not buy for nothing and see if can he can stay on the field? He is basically a rookie in the respect that we are still not sure what he is capable of.

Yes, he's a hold at this point.  I'm just glad I'm only holding him in one league.  Those that went all in on him in multiple leagues are sure feeling it, unless they bought him for pennies.

Last week you probably aren’t getting much. Today, after a nice piece about him and Trubisky hanging out and working together you’ll have the buy low guys that may say “sure, 2.10 is a dart throw, I’ll take a shot”. Maybe it’s an early 3rd. But I think he’s a long shot to overtake Meredith, and I am predicting that they bring in better talent than wright and Inman. I think he’ll be battling for targets if he’s healthy.  Right now there’s some decent press, so if you really think you’ll be cutting him later this year I’d rather just get out for what I can while his name is in the news. I understand he’s still young and has the measurables and whatnot and if he happens to pan out he could pan out big. But I think it’s unlikely, and I think you might get something for him (or use him as a throw in) now rather than in 2 months. This is more the point I’m trying to make, the offseason stock may be at its highest for white, if you’re inclined to move him.

I wouldn't actively buy him, but if I had the roster space, I'd definitely target him as a throw in. People are writing him off like he's no good, but he's actually just unproven. It's super weird that the guy has broken a bone in three straight years, though. I'd rather a guy break a bone than tear a ligament or tendon, but three broken bones is weird. Corey Coleman is one broken bone away from that territory, too, although he's played more games.

But like others have said, he's going to have to fight his way through the depth chart. It's almost a certainty the Bears will be bringing in some WR talent.

For what, though?
FWIW, I offered a 2019 4th for him yesterday in a FFPC league where cutdown to 16 players is in two weeks. I had one available roster spot to add a guy cheap. The guy selling him also wanted a bump from 2.10 to 2.06. I turned it down.

He's not very good either.

I'd be surprised if he caught more than 5 passes for the rest of his NFL career. Biggest bust top 10 wr in history.

I wrote him off before last year. Now, I've really written him off.
While I'll agree if there's cost involved other than roster space or waiver fodder, I've bought him in two leagues in last 6 months. Last year for Derrick Johnson as I rebuild, then 2 days ago in the 20th round - next on my list would have been Chad Williams.

At least with White I'll feel comfortable dropping him if he doesn't do squat again early this year.

Tis the season for puff pieces. Get ready for lots of “best shape of his life” and “qb and wr are working out together.”

I'm still holding out NFL hope for White. He's never going to live up to his top-10 draft status, but I think its possible he can still contribute to the passing game. While they are different types of players, I could see White following the Ted Ginn career path, of being a huge disappointment as a top-10 pick, but carving out a valuable role as an ancillary option. Fantasy-wise though, I don't think he's someone to feel the need to find a spot for.

I fully expect the Bears to draft a WR on day 2.

I have a hard time seeing it. I don’t think White is in the NFL next season.

At this point they should be happy if he's DHB.
