WR Malik Nabers, NYG (4 Viewers)

Saw clips where Nabers was yelling at Dabs. So much drama and it’s only week 1.
Probably means he’ll be fed even more empty targets next week.

In any event, I’m just glad he made it through the game healthy (or so it seems right now).

So much injury drama with this dude. Reminds me of the Odell years.
By the time Odell started getting injured he was cooked. Nabers (so far), reminds me of Mike Evans. Always dinged, always questionable, but always at peak performance when the bright lights came on. Nabers still has a lot to prove but so far he’s proven he is a gamer, hates practice, is a tough *** dude or some combination of the 3.
Yes, Odell was totally cooked at the ripe old age of... :checks notes: 25 years old.

Jaxson Dart to the white courtesy phone ...
Once Andrew Thomas is healthy and back in the lineup, I suspect we will see Dart.

Some guy on X pointed out that Thomas's injury is to the same one he's already had Lisfranc surgery on. Oh no.
with a Lisfranc injury bad enough for surgery, Thomas career was in trouble. Lisfranc is a horrible injury. worse for RB than for O line guys but still career threatening. This could be trouble.

there are so many ligaments and tendons the centre on the Lisfranc area its tough to fix problems with a surgery. too many moving parts and very easy to muck up one area when you fix another.

Lets hope hes ok. this is worrisome.

You know what? Never cite randos on Twitter. He's still recovering from his Lisfranc surgery from Oct. 2024. He's just not back yet.

The 33rd Team
Every player since 1970 with more receiving yards through 17 career games than Malik Nabers (1,442), per @Stathead

Odell Beckham Jr. - 1,733
Puka Nacua - 1,486
Justin Jefferson - 1,471
Ja'Marr Chase - 1,455

Malik Nabers has 123 career catches, the most by any player in his first 17 NFL games, per @Stathead 🙏
Impressed!

Malik Nabers caught 9-of-13 targets for 167 yards and two touchdowns in the Giants’ Week 2 loss to the Cowboys.

Trevon Diggs just didn’t have a chance against Nabers on his first touchdown, and Nabers caught what looked like a knockout blow second touchdown with less than a minute left in the game over Kaiir Elam. He obviously won’t cook like this every week, but these are the kinds of games that make Nabers’ talent hard to ignore. It’s the second-most yards in a game for Nabers in his young career, behind only his 7/171/2 destruction of the Colts in Week 17 last year. He’ll be on the WR1 line against the Chiefs in Week 3.

So he is 2nd in team history and 4th amongst LSU alumni...

What are people getting for Nabers in trades?

I’ve been trying to swap for a RB straight up on teams loaded at RB and meh receivers. No interest.

Which RB is beating Nabers’ numbers? Are you desperate for a RB?
Redraft league
Javonte Williams
Tyrone Tracy
Charbonnet
Pacheco

Bench receivers easily outscore my RB2. Team is second overall scoring so team is ok without a change but tried shifting points to RB and promote bench WR to flex.

Figured I’d ask here about trade value after getting rejected trading Nabers for Taylor, Jacobs, Chase Brown, Henry or Bucky on RB heavy teams.

Depends on league settings of course it in the majority of cases I’d rather have Nabers than any of the RBs you listed. He’s going to be a beast this year.

I liked Daboll and really don't like to see guys who generally seem okay (this might not be true in the least) get fired because of terrible quarterbacking, but this guy and Schoen are recklessly dumb. Like giving Saquon to the obnoxiousness that is the Philadelphia Eagles, who happen to be probably their biggest and most hated rivals. This tag team stinks. I'd like to see them stay the year, but what good are lame ducks?

They don't seem to have the the acuity to get this stuff up and running themselves. Seems like they needed the structure of Buffalo in place and then work from within that.

Well technically Drake London has been better 2 of the 3 weeks so far but I still don’t feel good about my decision taking him over Nabers.

Daboll is absolutely terrible. GM isn't much better. Both way over their heads.
Agreed. HC has to find ways to get Nabers into the game flow... jet sweep (or 2), motion, slot play, etc. This whole "run downfield as far as you can and Russ will throw it up for grabs" is not a plan... it's Tecmo Bowl.

Look at what the Bears did yesterday with DJ Moore... made the effort to get him involved early and often.

DJ Moore had 5 targets and 4 catches for 21 yards. Would that make you happy as a Nabers owner?

Guys, I do not think jet sweeps and WR screens are your answers. Just . . . hear me out. Of guys that carry the ball, you really hold your breath when huge TEs get hit by DLs. RB bodies are meant to withstand hits from maybe LBs and S and you hope your OL slows down their DL because that’s when RBs twist ankles and blow knees. Under that weight and force.

But these freaking modern rage coaches forget about basic height/weight **** and get cute. Next thing you know, DJ Chark’s career is kaput, CeeDee Lamb is now out with a high-ankle sprain, etc.

Let’s get Nabers open for real. Ten yards down the field where CBs are tackling him.

Let’s make sure the play design is good enough.

Add the 3 carries and the TD that he also had and... YES. Kinda buried the headline there in your statistical cherry-picking.

Point is, the Bears HC realizes the importance of getting everyone involved (something he carried over from DET, no doubt). It is arguable that DJ Moore is WR2 on CHI now, and they still made the effort to get him the ball.

NYG left Nabers - clearly their best weapon on offense - out of the game plan until they were out of the game.

Danny Dimes ballin out in Indy is the worst look possible. Danny Dimes going to get some people fired in NY this year.
Totally.

It's not the QB. It's them.
honestly I think it all comes down to the O line.

Indy has a decent one. New Yorks has been a Train wreck most years.

never underestimate the power of good blocking. Even the best scheme falls apart if the big guys up front cant make their blocks.

I didn’t look at the carries tbh. TDs are random — 5 targets for a WR and 21 yards receiving sucks.

No disagreement on Daboll sucking though

Houston, Cincinnati, NY Giants. What on earth are these front offices doing?

I don’t care if the GM screwed up what he thought was a blue-chip prospect in Evan Neal. Don’t scout the jersey (NY) or the underdog story (NE under Belichick). Scout the player. And if they messed up, they haven’t fixed a thing just because they tried to address the issue. Do it again.

Basic stuff they should have learned and experienced by the time they were twenty-five or so (not being snowed by name brands and compelling Americana sentiments are difficult impulses to keep at bay). By then, there aren’t really excuses. Maybe thirty for some of us, but if you’re a GM before thirty your organization has other issues wayyy beyond the norm.

Not sure how I feel about Dart taking over. Kind of thinking Nabers’ production is going to take a short term hit as Dart gets up to speed and tries to survive behind this OL.

Definitely would rather see Winston as a Nabers holder, hopefully Dart can extend plays will legs and find him for so,e big plays.
The positive angle is that Nabers balled out last year catching passes from the “old” Daniel Jones in addition to Cutlets and Lock.

My hope is that the young QB understands that his best path to success is though his elite talent at WR and thus ensures he peppers him with the appropriate targets.

Just said almost exactly this in the Dart thread.

I think throwing him behind that leaky line they will ruin him as a prospect. but hey, this is the way the Giants roll.

I dont wish the kid any ill. I hope he does well. but I'd need to see him not just knock on the door. I'd need him to break the door down with authority before I'd consider putting him on the field behind this crappy line.

With Winston, Nabers might break single season records.

I would also think Dart won't be able to go through many reads with the speed of the game at first and Nabers would be his 1st read a lot. And if he's covered, Dart checks down or runs.

Malik Nabers was carted from the Giants’ Week 4 game against the Chargers with a right knee injury.

Leaping to make a potential down-field catch in the second quarter, Nabers’ right leg buckled as he planted to leap. He was then seen grabbing his knee in mid-air before coming down. The Giants immediately called for the cart. Nabers put a towel over his head as he was being taken to the locker room. Nabers frequently limps on and off the field, but this certainly appeared different than his usual injury issues. Fantasy managers need to be prepared for the worst.
The injury was reminiscent of the Victor Cruz torn patella tendon injury, Nabers was hurt before he jumped for the all. He was screaming in pain...
