WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling, PIT (1 Viewer)

Dropped the go ahead TD tonight. Tripped over his own legs trying to track another deep pass earlier in the game. Supposedly leads the league in drops on attempts over 30+ yards (6). Thank goodness he’s not due anymore guarantees next year. Chiefs will save $12MM when they inevitably cut him.

Anybody watch the postgame tonight? Holy hell, I’ve never seen someone get run over by a bigger bus.

Yeah, he coulda caught it. Mahomes coulda also put it out there better. But holy hell, ESPN has just been absolutely killing him over and over and over. Just brutal.
I’m not sure how Mahomes could have thrown that any better.
Dude has been know for drops his whole career. I know he’s a pro and all, but I feel kind of bad for him.

And I can’t stand the Chiefs.

This is why I don’t understand why the Chiefs don’t play who they consider their best 3 WRs instead of rolling out Scantling and Moore. Seems like giving them targets is a waste. Seems Rice is their best play maker. Perplexing.

And they are still ignoring McKinnon. So much for the "after bye-week magic" from Andy Reid.

To be fair, he has been one of the biggest disappearing acts in the league despite playing with 2 future HoF QBs. He is another fast WR that can't catch. For some reason, teams never seem to be able to quit guys like this.

It’s pretty bad when you make Willie Gault look like HOF’er

For most of the snaps played in the season, MVS is a highly paid decoy. I am convinced his primary role is to stretch the defense and not catch passes.

A test case for the idea that a wide-receiver just needs the right situation to flourish. Couldn't have come into a better situation, deep threat WR with the leagues best QB and other worldly deep ball thrower. Does nothing.

Released today.

Given how successful and well-run of an organization it is, it's amazing how much they've failed at throwing a lot of money and premium draft picks at WRs: MVS, Toney, Skyy Moore, etc.

Yeah, but they also drafted Hill and turned him into 3 Super Bowl rings.

But they definitely need to do better at that position.

Amazingly, the Chiefs simply don't win the last two Super Bowls without him. Had an amazing AFCCG last year when literally everyone who could catch a ball got hurt.

And then this year, makes a handful of clutch catches to win games throughout the playoffs.

But yeah, he had the best situation and made some good money but never really flourished completely. And two Super Bowl rings to boot.

He couldn’t catch the ball in Green Bay with Aaron Rodgers, he wasn’t going to suddenly learn to catch in KC with Mahomes. Everyone said it was a bad signing at the time given the large $ and his hands. I desperately tried to trade him once he hit the jackpot on landing spots but everyone in my leagues knew he had the dropsies.

Ironically he directly cost them regular season games but managed to come up big when it counted in the playoffs as @ChiefD mentioned.

He’s played with an MVP QB 3x and is a 2-time SB champ. Deep threat with stone hands is just what the Bills needed.

Stylistically it makes sense bc they kind of don’t have anyone to play the X.
If he's higher than WR4 its coaching malpractice. Ideally, I think Curtis Samuel plays the X. He's got the most downfield ability and can challenge Safeties deep. Then use Coleman as a big slot, and Shakir as your Z. They could rotate all 3 between the slot, and really keep defenses off balance, though I don't know if Joe Brady will be that creative. He seemed to more "dumb down" the offense (which worked) last year.

Frankly speaking, I think MVS sucks. Like he's an actual bad WR, he's just been paired with Rodgers/Mahomes his entire career. Kinda feel like anyone who ran a 4.3 could have filled his role, even a UDFA. Its not just the stone hands, its also awful routes, and no physicality, which is really rough for a guy 6-4 210. If he can get his head screwed on straight (big if) I'm not sure MVS is better than Claypool, he's certainly nowhere near as talented.

Has there ever been more of a FF tease? He gets paired up with another big arm QB, and he’s going to get way overdrafted in redraft.

That said, there’s always a chance. Dynasty shareholders rejoice at the landing spot for sure,

Not advocating for MVS, just saying that they don't have an X on the roster. Samuel hasn't seen significant snaps outside since 2019 - last 2 years it's been 70%+ in the Slot and under 25% Wide.

Mack Hollins can play outside but he's about as exciting as trying to resurrect Chase Claypool.

You're right guys, this pro who has been a starting WR on the last two Super Bowl winning teams is so not good. You guys have had some good cracks, I wonder who do we trash next?

Yes, MVS is definitely why the Chiefs won the last 2 superbowls, and not at all their generational QB, having the best TE in the league, or stellar defensive play.

no notes.

guys, guys, let's not forget all the MVPs Rodgers & Mahomes won bc of MVS

second game on roster and he's at 55% snaps, 3 targets, 100 yards and 2 tds... no saints receiver eclipsed 55% snap share week 10. is there anyway MVS fills the shaheed speed/deep threat role ROS? i'm not thinking he'll be a consistent performer but there is nothing left in that WR room right now.

I picked him up in a couple of league .... Carr has to throw to someone. MVS isn't a dynasty/keeper must have ... but for the next 4-6 weeks? I see a value

I've got homer mud-colored glasses on, but:

What concerns me with MVS is how easily the Falcons neutralized him in the second half this past Sunday. Have to think future opponents will do the same for long stretches. Still, Stealthycat is on to something -- Carr has to throw to someone, and there are no other legit NFL starting WRs on the team's roster. Hopefully MVS picks up more of the playbook and Klint Kubiak can scheme him free at least a little more often.

In a start 6WR league I'm totally comfortable here.
I don't think I could start him in other leagues. I put bids in but ...

Feel like I've seen the MVS movie a few times before. Kinda goes like this:

1. He goes off while on the waiver wire.
2. You pick him up and he goes 1-6-0 while dropping three catchable balls..
3. You drop him and he goes off.

Quite possibly the ultimate whack a mole WR of all time.
