WR Matthew Golden, GB (1 Viewer)

Matt Harmon
Matthew Golden among the 94 WRs to get 20+ targets this season:

- 3rd in EPA per target
- 9th in success rate when targeted
- 17th in yards per target
- 41st in first downs per route
- 53rd in yards per route
- 79th in targets per route

I think you get the drift. Good when thrown the football, not thrown the football very often.
Good when targeted but not targeted enough to be startable for most teams. I expected his targets to be much higher but when you have Kraft and Doubs as first two options then Jacobs as a run threat not many opportunites. I feel like too much of a gamble to pick who will be WR 2 from Green Bay going forward.
horrendous job drafting--imagine what they could of used that 1st pick on....anything but WR
Like an olineman (Morgan) that looks like an undrafted FA talent at best, or a DE (Van Ness) that wasn't even a starter on his college team? Packers have drafted like crap in the first, but I blame coaching here. Golden is better than this.

Do we think the two games Christian Watson is healthy this year will open up opportunities for him or hurt his value?

All jokes aside, I don't think adding more mouths to the mix is going to help his cause.

I wasn't super-high on Golden, but I thought he would've made more of an impact by now.

There's still plenty of time, but you have to wonder if this offense will always be WRBC.

He’s gonna get dropped widely

He’s gonna have a smash day, 3-120 with 2-3 TD

he will get picked up everywhere

He will flop

He will get dropped widely

Repeat

The packer wideout circle of life
I have Watson, Golden, and Savion Williams in one league. In another I have have Doubs, Watson, Golden. Because you just never know with these GB WRs. I keep hoping some will be traded away...but they keep extending them! :crying::violin:

Yeah. They finally understand that a) offense wins championships b) you need to give your high salary QB some weapons to throw to

They never gave Rodgers a Golden in the first round.

Love has actually undercooked with this weapons.

There was a reason I drafted him in 0 out of 11 rookie drafts. Should have stayed with that instinct and never drafted him in redraft. I know some "loved" him I didn't see it. He was my QJ from 2 years ago and Coleman from last year. Looks to be right.

Guy who drafted him in my league just dropped him. He won't be available till next week now. I'm curious who will put in a bid if any for him. I was very high in him going into the year and it just never materialized. Redraft seems to be a lost cause but dynasty he seems like a prime year 3 guy to break out.

Fair to call him a huge bust seeing how he was a 1st round pick in most rookie drafts. This has been a really disappointing class overall between the lack of breakthrough with him, Henderson, Hunter, Burden, Loveland, and Kaleb Johnson. You could say more than 50%-75% of the first-round players have way under performed.

Agree, terrible rookie class. Some of us stupidly listened to all of the EXPERTS saying in the preseason, oh Golden is a star. Never ever draft a GB receiver, it's a wasteland.

You kinda had that backwards. Should be 0 in redraft and 11 out of 11 in dynasty. Packers drafted him for the future. He's demonstrated the ability when given the chance. Those chances will come when free agency hits them at the WR position.

I don’t think has done anything to be called a bust unless FF production is the element of judgement. Packers are a tough read the way they use their pass catching options. When I have watched him play he exhibited the skills that made him a high pick, he unfortunately is in an offense that spreads it around. I think they have underused Jayden Reed over the years and Golden may suffer the same fait. I was shocked they extended Watson and that doesn’t help going forward either. Kraft is probably their top weapon, but eventually the WR room will become thinner. I will be sniffing around in dynasty to acquire Golden, but will probably be patient as I think his production will continue to disappoint this season.

Redraft I assume (hope)

If I needed help at any other position than wr,I'd dump Golden, like I did 2 weeks ago.
When Reed gets back,it will make it that much harder for targets.

My concern with this is that I don't view the Packers WRs being all that good. Golden having to wait for average at best WR talent to move on doesn't say a lot about him. So either Golden isn't that good, can't learn, or the coaches are failing to get their better players the opportunities. 4.3 speed, solid hands, but the lack of involvement and more deep or crossing routes each game is puzzling. Something does not add up in this situation.
