WR Matthew Golden, GB (2 Viewers)

My biggest fear when drafting him was too many mouths. He’s just not goi g to get the consistent targets in this offense.

The issue for Golden is Wicks seems like he learned how to catch the ball.

But hopefully Golden can get the Reed role if he's out for a bit.
He's a rookie. It's only his second game. Patience
A better ball earlier and he's got a long TD. He'll be fine.
If the ball is shorter the defender breaks it up
there was a very reasonable window to drop the where Golden catches it. I’m not saying it was the easiest throw, the other missed TD was easier for sure but Golden had his defender beat.

Ya I'm with you. That 4th down throw by Love was a total miss and should have been a touchdown.

For redraft he’s certainly someone to consider dropping. Just depends how much room you have to wait and see. For dynasty, I don’t really change what I thought of him.

I'm sure he'll be a fine player and it might even be this year but Love doesn't target a WR (besides Kraft). Only snagged Golden in a short bench league and he's hitting the WW next week.

It's funny watching this thread slowly follow the same path as the Jayden Reed thread. Will be interesting to see how aligned they are by seasons end if Golden suffers the same fate. Still early, but through 2 weeks this looks like the same exact offense it's been the past couple years with no real WR1 and no desire from the staff to make anyone that.

that was my fear knowing how the GB offense has run the last few years. Got sucked into "this time it's going to be different" given all the rave reviews. Didn't have to pay up so it's not a big deal but I'd rather have Boutte at this point.

Looks like until I get Rashee back, Golden is riding the bench in favor of Wandale who at least gets targets in PPR. I knew there were mouths to feed but he's not even getting the quick looks like he did in pre-season. And as long as GB keeps winning, LaFleur isn't gonna change things up too much, even with the Reed injury IMO

Reed being out, his share should go up. Doubs is Doubs. He's just always around but never good enough to start any given week. Wicks was the hot name last year until he dropped a ton of balls. Golden you saw could be spectacular if Love and he can get on the same page. 2 missed TDs. It's right there for him to get it.

From what I observed, he didn't even see the field at first, then Reed got injured and he was immediately out there. Still limited looks after that but just missed on a huge night on those 2 throws. Tough redraft hold but better times ahead i'd guess.

What are you talking about? Tucket Kraft is WR1!

Jayden Reed was a little different because expectations were much lower give his drat slot. And of course Reed was a big WW star as a rookie coming on and scoring 10 TDs as a rookie.

Looking for some panic drops this week to scoop him up.

I dropped him in my 10 teamer after week 1, nobody picked him up and I felt safe doing as I didn't see the usage watching the Lions game. I think the Reed injury changes things a bit and a lot more utilization is inevitable.

I am very interested in how GB shakes out. Golden played one more snap than Wicks week 1, and 8 more week 2. Only Doubs played more. Doubs by the way, is an every snap guy.

But still only half the plays, and the Pack go 2TE a good amount. And Kraft seems like he's going to eat. And Love ain't throwing 45 times a game.

Very tricky.

I think they are still figuring out how to use him, he was inches away from a couple of massive plays. I’m holding in my short bench league for now, still has some very nice upside imho. Plus the WW options are still kind of meh…

Definitely gotta hold him given that he was drafted as a flex player for most people. Packers offense looks like they’ll generate explosives all year. But they will only pass as much as they need to with the run game and defense keeping things close all year

He’ll certainly make some big plays but I target guys with targets and consistency…not feast or famine /home run options. I was hoping that GB might make him the target of the wr core. They might gradually but I don’t want to clog my roster waiting and hoping. D rather take shots at Fanins/Boutte’s…guy that are actually the focal points of their teams. May not continue and that’s a risk but so is holding Golden and hoping.

I own him extensively, I'm not cutting him anywhere but I'm not encouraged and don't think he will be anyone you can count on.

That said, if you want to hang your hat on something, look at Justin Jefferson's first two games. Very similar and then he was off to the races

There is no reason to have any concerns about Golden. He is a rookie, and it can take some time for him to adjust. The talent is there. Patience is necessary.

Many wide receivers have had a slow start and been just fine.

Love cost him another TD by leading him out of bounds

There’s some debate on this one. It was a huge play at the time but could have been a walk in TD. The throw could have been better but Golden seems to get his feet crossed and it looks like he could or should have been able to turn upfield.

Yeah he lost his balance a bit I think by the time he regained it the safety coming over would've tackled him. Maybe could've gotten another 5 to 10 yards though. If he catches it cleanly and doesn't stumble he takes it to the house.
