See, this is the hype I'm talking about (although I think/hope? this is sarcasm). Saying a rookie WRs FLOOR is a HOF WR is a bit over-the-top.

It is meant to be sarcastic yes, but I don't see it as not possible either. Just look at his production for this season and missing all those games in the beginning of the season. Am I going over the top? Yes. Harrison was fantastic for what 4-5 seasons? Then the steady drop off in production. We could very well be lookingn at that same type with OBJ.

I would actually like to see him tone it down a bit as Coughlin is recommending. You want to celebrate but you don't want to stick it in their faces or he will end up geting injured from some no name LB who wants to take him out. The good thing is that he proved vs. the most penalized defense in football that he's not going to be intimidated from physical play so you can add another checkmark in the positive column of his abilities....

Allen's rookie year wasn't as impressive as ODB's.

Since Cruz got hurt, Beckham has been a stud. There's no debating that.

What will his role be when Cruz gets back?

Will he have a "sophomore" slump?

Will defenses adjust to him in his second year?

Those are questions that need to be asked.

the question is what Cruz's role will be not what Beckham's will be. The offense will be built around Beckham and the other pieces will fall where they fall.

It's not like defenses are taking it easy on him now or he's surprising anyone ...but a question I've asked several times in here that hasn't been answered...how do you stop him? what is his weakness? He's smart and can read defenses, they can move him all around their formations, can run all routes, lightning fast. Also, let's not forget that this isn't a one way street where only the defense can improve and slow him down...he is a rookie and most rookies tend to improve as they continue to learn player personnel and their tendencies, schemes and coverages and from everything I've heard this kids a film junkie so he's going to put in the time and work to continue to improve his game. All you have to do is listen to him and you'll know that. There's a reason he's reaching out to all time greats like Rice and Jordan and Lebron, he wants to be one of the best and wants to learn from the best what it takes. Very mature kid and that mixed with his talent is an amazing and scary combination.

What are you basing this on? Real info, or your hope/belief that this will be the case? I would like to see them do this, but you saying it will happen doesn't actually make it true.

It's a strong belief based on listening to the team and watching him on the field. They are already building their offense around him like they never did for Cruz and Cruz coming off an injury I don't believe will change anything. It obviously remains to be seen what impact Cruz will have coming off a serious injury. When the team and guys around it are saying they haven't seen a player with his impact since Lawrence Taylor it speaks volumes that they see him as an impact player and as such will utilize him as such.

Makes sense to plan around OBJ during the coming offseason since the Giants know he'll be healthy. Cruz probably won't be a full go by OTA's or the beginning of training camp for that matter. I think they'll handle Cruz like they did David Wilson last year. Plan for the worst and if he makes a great recovery then it's a bonus. The draft and FA will determine the teams true thoughts, if they take a WR early in the draft or sign a top FA WR.

But the Pro Bowl isn't a FF award, where PPG matters. The fact is that over the course of the season (which is, presumably what the Pro Bowl is: a season-long accomplishment), Cobb has contributed more to his team: more games played, more receptions, more yards, and helped them to more wins.

But again, as Beckham was named as an alternate, & Cobb wasn't, it appears if Calvin and Green didn't get in based on merely name recognition, he would/should have made it.

Cobb is Greg Jennings or Eric decker. Goodish wr made very good by their outstanding qb. If he asks for too much money he'll get overpaid by someone and put up similar numbers to them. Davonte Adams will move into his slot and his name will be up for the pro bowl next year when he has 1100 yards and 10 tds.

This may/may not be true, but doesn't really have any bearing on this particular part of the conversation.

It doesn't matter if a WR has a great year b/c he is playing with a great QB. If his numbers are good enough, he should get pro-bowl consideration. Cobb's numbers are good enough, so he likely got consideration for the Pro-Bowl.

Otherwise, Green deserves "extra-credit" because he played with a lesser QB. Perhaps Evans is more deserving than Beckham since his QBs were markedly worse than Eli is.

I like Cobb, but I don't think he stood a chance in hell this year. I believe, Maclin, Tate, Sander and possibly Edleman were in line before Cobb.

It's odd to miss months for a hammy when many people in the organization expect you back. Whatever the normal time is...they were thrown by how long he was out.

He surely didn't show a commitment/dedication to working with the team in the offseason

Will he miss the workouts this spring/summer?

On the one hand it's nice a player wants to be sure he's healthy, but what happens if he sprains his ankle? Out 2 months?

There was an oddness to it and I'm curious if it will be repeated at all in the future.

Disagree...Cobb is more talented than Adams and I don't think the Packers see Adams as even close to ready to do what Cobb is doing.

Cobb is way more dynamic.

Cobb is like what people wanted Harvin to be....without Harvin's speed.

He can be used some out of the backfield to create mismatches there...can rush some...can return...but is a much better WR than Harvin.

The problem isn't that obj will stop making the catches, it's that Eli might not attempt them if he has other options. If cruz comes back close to 100%, coverage will roll to obj more often than not, just like it is right now. But instead of forcing the ball to obj, eli may throw the ball to cruz - just like he did with nicks. There's a rising tide lifts all boats argument where cruz coming back means obj gets a little more open, but it's a concern.

Are you trying to acquire him on the cheap? Or just new to the NFL? Possibly a Hungarian immigrant?

Not all injuries are created equal. Big muscle leg (quad, hammy) muscles can take a while to heal fully. Even when they feel good, all it takes is a little extra push to pop them.

Would you like a player 100% so that he can perform at an elite level like ODB did... Or would you see him rush back and reinjure himself; possibly having a lost season?

He surely didn't show a commitment/dedication to working with the team in the offseason

Will he miss the workouts this spring/summer?

On the one hand it's nice a player wants to be sure he's healthy, but what happens if he sprains his ankle? Out 2 months?

There was an oddness to it and I'm curious if it will be repeated at all in the future.

Have any examples of him not being committed or dedicated?

During the extensive time he missed Coughlin questioned it....so let me just ride on his coattails here

Not all injuries are created equal. Big muscle leg (quad, hammy) muscles can take a while to heal fully. Even when they feel good, all it takes is a little extra push to pop them.

Would you like a player 100% so that he can perform at an elite level like ODB did... Or would you see him rush back and reinjure himself; possibly having a lost season?

Yes I'm new to football that's how I was aware he had missed more time than anyone in a llllong time for a hamstring injury.

Ever heard of Miles Austin?

Tell me about Miles. I don't recall he and a hammy.

I remember young Isaac Bruce struggling with a hammy. It would be an issue for 2 or 3 years until he got with an olympic trainer (and if I'm not mistaken, he married an olympic runner) and changed much of his own personal routine. I remember him speaking about his diet quite a bit too.

Bruce would do what the team asked and run through practice and we'd get articles about this or that and then he'd sit or go see a doc and then practice and oh he's at a specialist now and....there was a reporting that's common.

Beckham came to the Gmen and missed time from their first day. Rookie "camp" OTAs, you name it, he missed time OR was a guy working with the Jeggs machine on the sideline.

The Giants were one of a few teams this year that began a new hamstring therapy. It was like an implied you gotta stay and do this but yet it's not a rule type new routine. It involved icing (nearly frozen water cycled over the hammy with a pump) and a cool down period before and then some walking and...I forget the whole routine; I think there was a before practice routine with warm water too. A few teams tried it this year and they were one of them. ODB didn't participate but most everyone did for the Gmen and other teams. They spoke of it on sports radio like ummm we have this state of the art new system to hopefully prevent hamstring injuries and the guy with a hamstring injury won't do it.

He went from day one til what? week 5? barely practicing and catching passes from a Jeggs machine on the sideline.

Coughlin has coached for 1000 years and at some point he stopped trying to give up dates and his tune was more "your guess is as good as mine," He and the GM were both frustrated and there was a time people questioned if the Giants team doc or trainer was handling it right.

Some fans would call into radio stations asking if he was damaged goods when they drafted him.

"A tweaked hamstring" people thought must be garbage, it must be a big tear or something more significant, but Coughlin was asked about that and said they did MRIs they'd obviously know if it was a serious tear.

If Brady misses time with an ingrown toenail, we consider it veteran rest during an offseason. When a rookie shows up and misses most every offseason activity, it raises eyebrows. Is he really hurt badly? Primadonna type WR? What's going on? Type Qs come out.

He is excellent and he will be the focus of every NFC East DC and surely some others this offseason as well. He'd better be ready to put the time in "upping" his game.

Banger, he thinks he's hot stuff too. A guy that thinks as such and misses practices...you know that doesn't go over well and over time that becomes a problem.

He recently was given a day of rest and hung out with Lebron that night. All the guys that did practice had to think hmmmm at that.

All I'm saying is he had better put the time in. Let's see how the offseason plays out. IF IF IF there's an issue then all this will definitely come up again

You shouldn't make guarantees unless you know what you are guaranteeing is true.

I don't know one way or the other whether he was getting treatment that day or not (nor do you), so I wouldn't guarantee that he was or wasn't.

Also, just because a player is a good interview doesn't mean he is not a prima donna. It could mean that he is an intelligent guy who knows how to say the right things when a camera is on him. He could say all the right things on camera and on Facebook, Twitter, etc and still be a lazy, self-entitled "me-first" type player. I don't know enough about him or his practice habits to say he is/is not a prima donna, but just because he is well-polished when it comes to media doesn't mean he isn't one.

Coughlin has never been one to mince words when it comes to evaluation of his players. He's had nothing but good things to say about odb and from watching the games it seems like when there is a miscommunication between odb and Eli it's always Eli raising his hand saying my bad. There is no reason at this time to question beckhams work ethic IMO
