WR Odell Beckham, Jr., Free Agent (5 Viewers)

I got a bad feeling about ODB at this pro-bowl. Useless exhibition leads to a terrible injury. People will talk forever about what could have been.

I thought the same thing. Like Robert Edwards (Pats RB) on the beach. That's the most useless injury in NFL history, maybe?

Enjoying the intensity level of the pro bowl. The format is working. Hopefully no one gets hurt. (Especially ODB)

ODB is unbelievable. Thank God he doesn't play on the Patriots or everyone would be questioning his gloves.

He's my #1 WR on the board next season. Yup. I said it.

I am contemplating some sort of Levion Bell deal to get OBJ.

Going back and forth with it.

I know, the way RBs usually go, a couple years from now this one will look like OBJ>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>BEll

wtf

He had five catches for 89 yards in the Pro Bowl and even among the game's best players he stood out. What's more amazing is what he shared in the locker room afterward.

"I was never really healthy," Beckham said about his rookie season.

Come again? That 91-catch, 1,305-yard, 12-touchdown rookie season (in just 12 games, by the way) was on a bad leg?

He said he had two separate hamstring injuries, and the second time he found out he had two tears in the hamstring, in the semitendinosus and the biceps muscles in the hamstring. Beckham missed four games to start the season because of his hamstring.

"I maintained it the best I could," Beckham said. "Still working on it. Trying to get it 100 (percent) for next year."
He said he'll shut it down for a few weeks this offseason and then start working back. He said there's a possibility it won't get to 100 percent by next season, but that's a long way off still.

HEADS, beckham....

Throughout it all, though, Beckham and the Giants never mentioned the tears he was hiding to the semitendinosus muscle and the bicep belly – one of which, he insisted, was completely torn.

Not that it seemed to matter all year, when his athletic feats – especially his one-handed catch against the Cowboys – were mesmerizing. He continued that on Sunday during the Pro Bowl with a diving 48-yard catch off a pass from Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford that, by comparison to his other work, seemed routine.

His real Pro Bowl show actually came during pre-game when he made several dazzling one-handed catches to the amazement of his peers. He also nailed a 46-yard field goal (on his second try), which was made even more impressive by the fact that the NFL was using goal posts that were narrowed from 18 ½ feet to 14 feet as an experiment for this game.

And he kicked that with his right leg – the one with the two hamstring tears that he said is “still not right” and that he admitted could linger for the duration of his career.

I'm not sure if this thrills or scares me. Either way :tebow:

I think it can only be bad.

Clearly the injury didnt negatively affect him when he was playing lights out at the 2nd half of the year. Obvious potential to hamper him at some point. Hamstrings suck
Have to disagree that it can only be bad. Yes, hammies have the potential to be bad if it were someone who lacked work ethic or drive, might be a little longer in the tooth, or had Chad Johnson's dietary habits. That is clearly not the case with ODB. Injuries to hamstrings aren't uncommon for fast WRs and I'm not sure you can point to guys who run 4.4s or better who haven't had a hammy issue at some point in time.If anything, this might be cause enough for concern for some owner on the fence to start shopping him, which I would gladly exploit if possible, because he was pretty much unattainable last week.

It's obviously not good but being such a young WR, he should be fine. He didn't have any setbacks in the season and I am sure he will do everything he can to prevent reoccurences.

I remember reading that he started doing the same warmup and stretching exercises that Rashad Jennings did pregame. I know normally, nobody should be looking at Rashad Jennings and have an "I'll have what he's having" moment but in this case, I think it is a good thing.

I have a hard time believing he wasn't playing at 100% for most of the time. Maybe he was in a little bit of pain or discomfort, but it wasn't limiting him. If his abilities were actually limited due to this injury then we are about to witness the greatest WR of all time.

I don't think the issue is so much what % he was at as it is concern about buying into an arian foster.

I thought foster was a great pick going into this past draft, but didn't get him on any of my teams, and kind of felt like I dodged a bullet despite his production.

If OBJ's injury was limiting him, why would the team allow him to play in the Pro Bowl? I think hes trying to hype himself a little too much.

So its good then?

I guess a better way to say it is it cant be good. It might not be bad, but it definitely isnt good
My point is that it comes with the territory of being an elite athlete and really doesn't concern me in the least as far as it pertains to ODB and his situation.
Hamstring tears dont come with the territory, and can be chronic and one of the worst things for a wr.

Not saying it will be, just saying its bad news that its still not 100%

Personally, I'd be much more concerned if it were something to do with big toes, feet, knees, back, concussion, etc, or to an older guy like an Andre Johnson, Steve Smith, Roddy White, Larry Fitzgerald, but you are absolutely right that it could become a chronic issue if he doesn't get it right this offseason. Still pretty amazing what he did at less than 100%, if was really less than 100%. 91/1305/12 TDs in 9 games plus spot duty in 3 others. You can't deny the numbers and you can't deny the game tape. He was unguardable.....at less than a 100%. Call me curious about what he will be like when he gets healthy.

Why would he play in the pro bowl if he has a hamstring injury, IE just about the easiest injury there is to make worse by playing on it.

yeah, he is a beasttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttly SOB

While I might not drop him in my overall rankings, I drop him just a tad my my own person ranking of him specifically. Meaning, if I am trading for him, I probably am willing to give slightly less than I would have before.

why did Graham play?

Who knows why some of these guys do the things they do.

Like the kid but we're seriously throwing roses at his feet for a decent dunk. Isn't that like minimum requirement level athleticism if youre playing in the league? Haloti gnata dunks too right?

Decent dunk? He's shorter than Allen iverson and his head is at the rim lmao

That in and of itself isn't amazing but coupled with the one hand catch ability, ability to throw the ball with either hand, kick 40+ yard field goals and on and on. The kid is a physical specimen that can do what 99.99999999999% of people cannot. Pretty amazing to see.

I know he should regress slightly next year, but I'm not believing it. I honestly think he is the clearcut #1 WR in the NFL - for next year and probably many years thereafter. I haven't seen talent like this that is so clearly visibly better than everyone else since Michael Jordan. I know I'll get flamed for this but I do intend on putting my money where my mouth is next season during FFL drafts.

Huuuuuuuuuuge Beckham fan

I just got a bad gut feeling about this season. Not his career, he'll be FIRE.

Just this season, the hype has grown too monsterous... something seriously fluky will happen

I have seen every play of his in the NFL and he's virtually unstoppable. On underneath routes he literally - I mean, literally, cannot be stopped. What I did see though was a lot of blown/bad coverage on his big plays - DB's not paying attention, safeties in the wrong area. There's no excuse for a lot of the defensive mistakes teams made late in the season when they knew what he was.

Believe it or not with his 12/185/1, the Eagles played him very well in the last game. He had 21 targets and they managed him as good as anyone could except for the 63 yard TD (DB fell down, safety trying to cover him in the open field). Still would have had 11/122/0 but without the TD that's a success on 21 targets against Beckham.

There's two things teams can do to contain him this year:

- More safety help. Defenses need to give Beckham the respect he deserves and double cover him every play. How that didn't happen more last year I don't understand.

- Blitz Eli more. If Eli doesn't have time he'll have to find Beckham on short routes - yes, he'll still likely make the catch but it's less likely to be a huge TD play.

The only concern I have is his risk of being injured from falling during one of his acrobat catches. Not worth worrying about though.

Beckham is what a lot of us thought Harvin would be - Harvin has all of the ability to get open but he lacks Beckham insane hands and body control.

Giant hype does seem to lead to giant disappointment a lot, however, it usually happens due to something other than a decline in play.

Hope he doesnt get injured, or Eli injured.

I agree with this 100%! I'm protecting him in my main league as my lone keeper. In MFL drafts I've grabbed him as high as 3 overall. I did take Brown once over him just to "diversify" since I'll likely do 10-20 of these this year but in all h2h leagues I'll take him first especially in ppr and maybe in standard as well.
