WR Odell Beckham, Jr., Free Agent (4 Viewers)

Most exciting player to watch imo. I've got him tied with Antonio Brown on my rankings but the joy of watching him play every week gives him the tie breaker for me.
That's such a stupid tie-breaker. You should use stats or history or strength of schedule. I absolutely do this too. After all it is for entertainment

Have people figured out yet that he can regress and still be the top WR?

I don't know if I have him at #1, but I know if he was on my team I would have a hard time accepting any one player offered for him.
It's all a crapshoot in that top tier. ODB, Dez, Brown, Megatron, Demaryius, Julio...just throw a dart. I'll take ODB because I'm a Giants fan.
Was referring to dynasty. If it is truly a crapshoot with those guys then OBJ is the obvious #1 due to age.

slightly overvalued by my projections...too many mouths to feed limits his ceiling.

ETA: retracting this statement upon closer examination.

Too many mouths to feed??

WAT???
You have Cruz who has been declining and is coming back from a catastrophic injury, Reuben Randle, Larry Donnell, Shane Vareen and Rashad Jennings. With those guys, it's clear why you just can't target ODB as much you would like. Got to keep Larry happy.

DUDS

WR Odell Beckham ‐ Look, there is no reason to sound the alarm or panic. This was a preseason game. But it was about as bad as you'll see Beckham play. It wasn't that he was unable to get open. He created constant separation from defenders. It's just that he was unable to haul in some tough but catchable balls, and twice he short-armed passes (one which he unnecessarily attempted to catch one-handed) with a safety bearing down. Beckham also dropped a pass inside the 5-yard line that would have given the Giants a first-and-goal and later took a cheap shot on safety Sergio Brown when he unnecessary checked him after an incompletion deep down the right sideline. All five passes in Beckham's direction fell incomplete on his disastrous evening. There's no way to deny that.

As long as his hammy's are o.k. I couldn't care less if he doesn't catch a pass in the preseason.

Good post,

I hope he keeps dropping them, in preseason, and then he drops to...me

Agree 100%. Injuries are the only thing that will stop him.

He is unstoppable. It shocks me that he hasn't gone for 100 yards yet. Considering he is the best receiver to ever play the game, this is unacceptable. As an owner, I will be quick to downplay the preseason. Once he has a good game, I will hype the preseason back up. The GOAT is just shaking off the rust baby!!! Can't wait to see him (conservatively) go for 150/2,100/19.

Team OBJ!!!

Like I said before, he's a more athletic Jerry Rice. Who cares about a preseason game against the Jags! He will break every receiving record if he stays healthy in 2015 and beyond.

uhhhh...."Jerry rice"...."every record"

A little early to be drinking on a Sunday, brohan.

ODBjr could play with no shoes and two hands behind his back and still break records this season. He is like a Pegasus amongst a bunch of old plow nags. A sunflower in a field of weeds. A mighty redwood amongst a forest of brambles.

Bri you're a good poster so I'm assuming this can't be close to serious. Is your stance that he's a one year wonder and flash in the pan?
Nah I was playing around like everyone else.

I was recently discussing though that I hope he gets a lot of flack. He was doing these one handed grabs in warm up, kinda hot dogging it. It's customary for vets to get on a guy that does that and then squat in the game...that's about all I think here. He's allowed rust and cobwebs like everyone else, plus Eli looks like garbage which he often does in preseason.

I agree it's only preseason, but there is that saying of "you play like you practice."

Imagine he gets some of Coughlin's humble pie after this.

Thanks. That's what I thought. Always like what you post.

For posting a goose egg, the highlights showed two (maybe 3) routes where a decent pass results in a touchdown.

OBJ has high expectations in 2015, for good reason. He absolutely is not a flash in the pan. Only his health stands between him and a great second season.

1 big play and everyone will be back aboard.

exactly. Manning was horrible. If people can't see his talent they need a new hobby.

My thoughts on this as a Giants fan:

I have NO idea what to think.

This preseason has been a disaster. But they all seem to be. The Giants could struggle until they get the system down - week 2? week 8? week 2016? who knows.

Such a huge range for the skill players here. HUGE ceilings... but a lot of downside risk. Question is do you believe in the system and the Giants ability to run it. If so, they may be risks worth taking.

Isn't this the same system as last year?

Have you guys followed how bad the injuries have been to the secondary especially? I know garbage time counts but still...if the O can't get on the field....I think I'm downgrading all of them including Beckham.

Bad defenses have historically favored the passing game for obvious reasons.

Are people really getting negative on obj? This is amazing! I can only pray that my league mates are thinking the exact same way so I can scoop him up. Have you not seen enough of this kids hands? They are monstrous Velcro mitts. And Eli might not be Payton but he's an above average qb who excelled last year in Ben macadoo's offense and this is year 2. Only going to get better.

Their defense sucks and people think that's a bad thing for the passing offense? Am I in the thigh light zone?

All that means is that the offense will be pass crazy in catch up mode for every game. An obj/Cruz/Eli owner's dream.

Sky is the limit for the Giants passing me this year.

Elementary.

His last 4 games in 2014: (Wk 14-17)

11 for 130 and 1
12 for 143 and 3
8 for 148 and 2
12 for 185 and 1

:lmao: :lmao:

SNF in Dallas 9/13 give me 9 for 120 and 2

There might be "safer" receivers out there (Brown springs to mind) and maybe one or two who could score more TD's (Dez would get 12 sleepwalking through a season) but few if any that offer the huge upside if the line gels and Eli has the time to throw and Giants' DEF is as epically bad as predicted.

Maybe this is more about Manning than Odell. Its no secret that when Eli is hot, he can look like a god and when he's not, he's REALLY bad.

Odell is a terrific talent. I'm not willing to say he's going to be as good as what I've read on this forum. I think he is a "smidge" over hyped (and by smidge I mean like saying Ray Rice is being black balled a smidge).

But I think it is worth paying attention to when considering Eli because it almost seems like this is a pattern. He lights it up and all of a sudden his WRs are highly coveted and then he goes into the tank and they are very ordinary. Odell probably couldn't be "ordinary" with anything less than Curtis painter but those numbers last year were highly unsustainable and that was with Eli playing like his helmet was on fire. I expect good, but less.

Julio Jones, Dez Bryant, Calvin Johnson, Brandin Cooks, Antonio Brown, and Demaryius Thomas could all destroy this league if the philosophy was to target them the way Odell was. Brown basically did. Josh Gordon, if he were in the league, probably would also.
