WR Odell Beckham, Jr., Free Agent (2 Viewers)

Here is a thought. What if everyone launched themselves at the heads of unsuspecting players when they were taunted pregame or called the f- or n- word. Would it look like a crash derby? How many players have ever been assaulted by a flaming bat? Is this something pop warner parents should be concerned about? The excuses continue to pour in for this kid and that lame video proves nothing other than OBJ is a weak minded simpleton who can be manipulated with name calling. Let your actions speak on the field young man. Never waver from who you are...unless of course...thats who you are!!!!
What do your overzealous posts on this topic prove about you?

at what point do you believe an opponent is going to hit you with an effing bat on an NFL field?

come on.
Let's bring guns then. In a sport based on physical violence, what could go wrong with weapons on the field.
what? are you honestly trying to tell me ODB felt threatened that he was actually going to be beaten w a bat, on an NFL field, in broad daylight, cameras everywhere... and whatever else you wanna add.

zero chance in hell he was actually threatened by the situation. it just fired him up to a point he cannot reign himself in from.
Perfect response.

I've heard that the Panthers have a bat on the field every game. Can anyone verify that?

Also, ROFL at the guy who thinks Beckham won the matchup because of the late touchdown. He was held without a catch for almost three quarters. And his longest gain came when Norman wasn't even covering him. Plus they lost. Plus he got him to lose his mind and get suspended. I'm not sure I've ever seen a better example of an elite athlete getting mentally owned.
It's irrelevant. If you're threatened with a bat, you're threatened with a bat whether the bat is always there or not.

Also, Beckham had 6 catches for 76 yards and a TD. That's 96-1216-16 if you extrapolate it. That's a very good game. I won't throw in the drop because that was bad on Beckham, but he clearly burnt Norman there.

It's also interesting that right after Beckham got the hit on Norman, the Giants unloaded on the Panthers and scored 28 points. Beckham also played much better after that too. Beckham was likely tired of being pushed around, he reacted, and Norman fell apart. Over the line? Yeah. But hey when you bully someone with a bat and verbally abuse them, I won't feel too sorry for you.

Beckham deserves a suspension, but Norman is no hero or victim here. And if he did get in Odell's head in the first half, Odell responded in the 2nd and didn't back down.

I know this is a different narrative than the media pushes so you should probably run back to ESPN and remind yourself of how bad Beckham is.
it's very relevant. If they brought a bat just for this game, Beckham and the Giants have a legitimate beef. I wouldn't be surprised if the league stops, them from doing it going forward, but its, still just something Beckham and the Giants have come up with hoping the suspension gets reversed. And most of those yards came when the Giants put Beckham in the slot to get Norman off of him. Norman is a punk too. But he got in Beckham's head in a bad way. Worst I've ever seen.

I guess it started even before the game with the Panthers carrying bats and one of them gestured with it to O'Dell and ODB turned and started jawing and had to be restrained by a trainer and punter Brad Wigg.

Here is the video:

New Video Shows Confrontation Between Odell Beckham Jr. And Bat-Carrying Panthers Player
Again, not condoning anything at all that Beckham did. It was a helmet-to-helmet vicious hit. I do think it should be a heavy fine and not a suspension, because it happened during the play, and because he's on my fantasy team. :)
He's not on my fantasy team and I think the same thing. The NFL has taken pandering to new levels over the past two season.

I would tell you that I don't know how Odell felt. How do you know whether he felt threatened or didn't feel threatened?

Look man, get out of your feelings and lets keep this topic about O-BJ! Turning on me won't help this young man. Im all for rehabilitating him so long as he holds himself accountable. It's this attack who is bothering me mentality that got OBJ suspended. Im seeing it here in this thread by guys who come at me for my comments about a man who they will never meet. Stick to your game and dont let me get in your head. Its not about you or me. Its about the kid. Carry on. Lol.

Raiders, Saints did it, they have been doing it all season

Butkus used to tell opposing players, he's was going to rip their heads off and s*** down their throats...

I'd rather get hit by a bat. :oldunsure:

They should rename the NFL to FFL and start playing flag football. Hell, players used to kill one another on the field. No one in the history of the game were more dirty / and or / physical than the Oakland Raiders (except maybe Conrad Dobler ;) ). Both should have been ejected for that game and fined but that's it and we shouldn't still be talking about it.

NFL teams used to have 200 lb offensive lineman and ran 80% of the time. That was real man football.

I hate today's media. Everything is blown up way higher than it should be.

Is there an answer to the question forthcoming, or should we just expect more judgmental preaching? This "young man," who has reached the pinnacle of his craft, probably doesn't need the help of sanctimonious message board contributors who thinks he needs to be "rehabilitated" because of a single on-field incident where nobody was actually hurt. Football is violent by design. Beckham was a bit more violent than the rules allow. That does not warrant the level of gleeful persecution that has become all too common in our 'enlightened' social media driven age.

No doubt Norman got into his head but McAdoo/Coughlin had a bigger part (maybe closer to equal) in shutting down OBJ for most of the game than Norman did. How he only got 2 targets in the 1st half especially after he beat Norman like a drum on the 1st series is beyond me.

That being said I agree with the suspension (Giants fan and OBJ owner who is still alive in a few leagues) and think OBJ needs to learn to handle his emotions a lot better. He does SEEM like a good young man but a young man that needs to learn how to channel his emotions.

How come nobody is up in arms about Cody Wallace?
Probably because he wasn't trying to pick a fight on 75% of the snaps he was in. I already called his hit out as dirty pretty early on. I think he should be suspended. But I dont think he should be punished as much as ODB or Norman.

Jesus christ what is so hard to understand here? I have never seen anything like it in sports. Ever.

I have seen fights in baseball, I have seen fights in hockey, I have seen dirty plays, I have seen pitchers hit batters, etc etc. I have never seen two players try and do that kind of behavior on almost every play of a game. Never. I would love to hear of a similar game so I could compare, but I dont think there is one. There have been uglier single events. Mcsorley comes to mind, but honestly the only difference there is Norman wasn't seriously injured. That is possibly just a measure of luck. Intent was the same.

Even if people dont care about wallace it does not change how much of a POS ODB is.

I don't get the hate against ODB. Does he owe you money? Sleep with your sister?

You need to think before you post.

come on.
Bringing a bat onto the field as a symbol for "bringing the wood" with your teammates is one thing.

Holding said bat, walking over to Odell and taunting him during pregame warmups is bush league and shouldn't be tolerated. If you are going to talk @#$% to someone on their sideline don't bring a bat with you.

So you're going with the "But everybody else does it" defense?

Any evidence the Raiders or Saints brought it on the field and threatened anyone while holding it?
