WR Sammy Watkins, BAL (3 Viewers)

No.  If they have 2 wins at the bye probably. However they'll likely keep him another year and roll with the Sammy was injured, Cordy Glenn injured, and Shaq Lawson/Ragland have also gotten hurt excuses.
Even if BB beats them with a mystery QB? (Brissett tore a thumb ligament)

Yeah, they already fired the only non Rex guy on the staff, nobody really left to have the Interim coach label.  Dennis Thurman is basically Rex Ryan's puppet.  Anthony Lynn is a Rex guy as well as most of the staff, You certainly aren't promoting his brother. He signed a 5 year deal, I know that doesn't matter but they likely aren't going to walk away from that and pay 20M in dead money.  Also forgot about Dareus in rehab, which isn't the coaching staff's fault.

You could see Whaley gone in the offseason and then see if they want to keep Rex, I feel as if Mr. Pegula will add a football czar to the staff which he has wanted to help Whaley.

I've always wondered if that's an added incentive for coaches to fire their coordinators in-season.

Rex may make it through the season, but if he doesn't turn things around I don't see how he's back in '17.

I'd be stunned if Watkins makes any meaningful contribution this year.  I'm a huge Bills and Watkins fan (ya, it sucks, I know) and even I was relieved when a team in my redraft league nixed my offer to get Watkins for Charles Sims.

I really hope he rests this week and gets a full 16 days off, has a good week 4 and gives me a chance to bail on him in a cheap deal.

He was cut this week in my big $ league with short bench's? I put in a $15 bid ($100 yearly FA budget) and got him.

So to answer your question, his value I would say is pretty dang low right now.
That seems a little ridiculous. They had a couple bad games and he's going to be out for a bit healing up the foot. When he plays he's a top 10 talent. You gotta make a bench spot for him.

I'm throwing out an offer for Rodgers in my league bc my QB situation is bad. I wouldn't be that disappointed if it's declined. I think you guys are bailing too soon. The doctors went on record saying that the issue is more pain management than risk of re-injury.  These guys are elite talents and play through a lot of stuff.  Let's give it a few more games before doing something like dropping him or trading for garbage (though I like the Wallace trade).

These are the people who are going to go down with the ship.

By "down with the ship", you mean "taking down the championship", right?

If he's cheaply available, you jump all over that #### in redraft. He's the type of player that can come along in Week 6 and be the driving force for a team to win it all.

I wish you luck riding Watkins to the championship this year.

Can't play him, can't trade him, and can't drop him... just stash him (if you have the space) and hope for a 2nd half rebound.

Drop him at your own peril. I'm sure there were guys that traded him/dropped him last year and then watched him go off down the stretch for their opponent.

Odell beckham comes to mind. People drafting him mid-round over the rookie hype, dropped him after the hamstring injury that sidelined him for a month, then he blew up and won people titles.

I'm buying in dynasty and it looks like other owners in my leagues are too.   It's worth the risk for such a young and talented player.

Dr Gene doesn't seem too concerned about the foot long term and he's only 23.  Dynasty is patience.

Like I said - good luck.  I let him go, not counting on him to recover from whatever injury he has every year.

I thought about trying to hold onto him but am short on wrs in the league I drafted him in right now so I traded him. If he gets healthy and plays well so be it

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Bills are "still holding out some hope" Sammy Watkins (questionable, foot) can play Sunday.
It's not much of an update. Watkins will go through pre-game warmups, but all signs continue to point to him sitting out. Marquise Goodwin will start in base sets if Watkins doesn't play, with Charles Clay the favorite to lead Buffalo in Week 3 targets.

Definitely on my bench in my flex spot today even if he plays.

Going with Crowell over him, it's a negative match-up with Cleveland hurting at both WR & QB but Hue clearly game plans to get Crow the ball so you can say with confidence that the plan is to get him 15-20 touches (may not play out that way but that is what he is in line for).

Also, from my roster, over Watkins I would also go with both Jay Ajayi who should at least get first crack at the bulk (50-60%) of RB touches today in Miami in a plus match-up (he could easily screw that up and get nothing) and Tajae Sharpe who seems to be the clear #1 target in Tennessee in a plus match-up vs. Oakland.

He was reported as "OUT" a couple hours ago.

I think most bigger sites have reported that, so not only am I not starting him anywhere, I'm debating on outright cutting him.

DO NOT cut this guy. He's a legitimate WR1 if he gets right. Maybe Buffalo sits him for a couple weeks and he's back near full strength. Sure he's got a crappy QB and a doofus as a HC, but he's talented enough to overcome those if he can get healthy.

Even if he doesn't get all better and you're looking at Dez circa 2015, then trade him on name value for someone a couple notches above WW material. Not much, but it's more than nothing.

I am thinking of cutting him too. Enunwa and Tyrell Williams are out there in my 10 team league.

anyone throwing out low ball offers on him?  I'm thinking you can get him very cheap and maybe he comes back like he did last year..???  wishful thinking?

Rex Ryan says there is "major concern" over Sammy Watkins' availability moving forward this season.

Ugh.  I don't want to cut bait on him this early in the season although I kinda wish they would just IR him because there are guys on my wire that I would prefer to the uncertainty of Sammy (Enunwa, Pitta & Eifert combined TE/WR league). I just haven't been able to make myself pull the trigger on them because of the hope of Sammy's upside and I won't pull the trigger without some clarity on Sammy.

I have him in an auction league, and I think his situation is pretty clear-as clear as Arian Foster, let's say.

He's got a bad wheel, it looks like.  I mean, someone steps on his foot in practice, and it makes him questionable?  That's really bad.  Bad feet for a WR is as ominous to me as JJ Watt's bad back.

I feel your pain. I drafted Watkins with my first pick in a keep 5 league(so round 6). At this point I am really thinking of cutting bait. I am winning without him but I have to start considering bye weeks.

Yeah, I'm starting to strongly consider dropping him as well. In small leagues with shorter benches there are still some decent options out there and he is just not getting healthy.

why why why did I draft this dude? Oh yeah - he's super talented and will be a target sponge if he ever gets back on the field. And bonus: all the news was totally positive until the day after my draft, which was 4 days before the season started.

:wall:

im still holding - IMO it's the only think SW owners can do. If he comes back in week 5-6-7 and plays the rest of the way it's like picking up a top 15 WR mid-season. There's reportedly nothing physically wrong with his foot - it's a "pain tolerance" thing.

Apprarently he has the pain tolerance of a 5 year old with a skinned knee. :(

He's soft. or they are lying and the foot was re-broken.  Before the news came out a buddy told me (father works with the team) that it was re-broken and Sammy's out awhile.  The news came out hours later saying Sammy was hurt but not re-broken.  Plays one game ineffective and then "someone steps on him" in a walk through and he hasn't practiced.  Something very shady going on.

I'm as big a Watkins supporter as there is out there. This just confirms for me that foot injuries (breaks and screws) need two seasons to heal. Redraft I would cut. Dynasty he is an obvious hold but I don't plan to start him at all this season. Long term I'm not overly concerned but I could understand others not wanting to deal with his injury history. Same as Keenan.

I was thinking about it. In my 14-team 0.5 PPR, I have Stafford for one more week, then Brady comes off suspension. Since he's basically useless to me after that (outside of Brady's bye week), I've been thinking of shopping him for buy-low candidates like Watkins or Charles. That way if they bust, I haven't really lost much.

They are resting him,  this is good.   I would be more worried if he was playing.

This just needs to heal, and if you try to rush it then it takes longer...

Dropped him on Sunday morning. He was snatched up quickly. Other guys i've already dropped include JStewart and AHurns. This is in a shallow bench league. (15 spots, start 9 nonPPR)

I'm finding it hard to be patient with players in this format. On the flipside i'm tempted to pick up Corey Coleman and wait him out. Another topic for another thread but what does everyone feel about his return and potential?

I scooped him up in a deeper bench league. Couldn't justify it in my short bench league. But no way he doesn't get ~5 Rec a game when he comes back (around the same time as McCown) - he's likely to have a great season fantasy-wise,  especially in PPR.

Im gonna try to find room for him in a few weeks in the short bench league too.
