Watkins returns after spending the minimum four weeks on IR. The Packers started Watkins their first two games but he's likely to have a snap count in his first game back. Green Bay placed Randall Cobb on IR to make room for Watkins and signed LB La'Darius Hamilton from the practice squad.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Sammy Watkins (hamstring) is available to play in Week 7 against the Commanders.​

Watkins was brought off injured reserve on Saturday after spending the minimum of four weeks on the list. The Packers are without Randall Cobb and Christian Watson for this game, so Watkins may not be eased in like some players are when coming off a month-long absence. Through two weeks, Watkins led the Packers' receivers in routes run. In his first game back, Watkins will be a risky WR4/5 option.

He played four fewer snaps than Allen Lazard, who left the game early, and 20 fewer than Romeo Doubs. Still, his 28 snaps were third on the team. He turned those opportunities into two catches for 36 yards on four targets. Watkins would seemingly be the No. 2 receiver if Lazard is forced to miss time, but he would still just be a risky WR4 option in a passing attack that is floundering.

Packers WR Sammy Watkins (hamstring) was removed from the Week 8 injury report.​

Watkins returned from IR last week, playing 52% of snaps in a loss to Washington. With Allen Lazard (shoulder) sidelined and Christian Watson (hamstring) questionable, Watson should see closer to an every-down role in Sunday night's matchup with Buffalo.

Sammy Watkins caught 1-of-5 targets for nine yards in the Packers' Week 9 loss to the Lions.​

With Romeo Doubs making it one snap before departing with an ankle injury, Watkins' five targets tied for second on the team, but he was a liability. He ran a slant on an end zone fade attempt and appeared to run the wrong route on the Packers' fourth down desperation attempt to keep the game going with 0:42 remaining. He and Aaron Rodgers appear to have precisely zero chemistry, something that is not surprising considering how much Watkins has been injured since arriving in Green Bay. Even with Doubs sidelined, Watkins isn't pushing for WR4 value.

Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Sammy Watkins is still dealing with "bumps and bruises."​

Watkins was not spotted at practice on Wednesday, though his absence was likely part of a maintenance plan for the veteran receiver. LaFleur said the lingering health issues are part of the reason Watkins hasn't done much since returning from injured reserve in Week 7. Watkins missed four games because of a hamstring injury while on injured reserve. He has four catches in his three games since being activated.

Packers waived WR Sammy Watkins.​

Watkins will pass through waivers and, if he remains unclaimed, will be free to sign with any team. Watkins is only 29, but his career appears to be winding down after unimpressive stints with the Ravens last year and the Packers this season. In seven games with Green Bay, Watkins caught 13 passes for 206 yards. He hasn't topped 700 yards since 2015. With Romeo Doubs returning from injury, Watkins faced a playing time squeeze with the Packers. He may catch on as a depth option elsewhere.

Sammy Watkins caught 1-of-3 targets for 12 yards in the Ravens' Wild Card loss to the Bengals.

Watkins reunited with the Ravens following Week 15 of the regular season after being released by the Packers and played only a situational role down the stretch. It is likely his time back in Baltimore has come to an end with the talent of Devin Duvernay and Rashod Bateman returning to the team in 2023, each of whom were lost to injury in 2022.
