WR Sammy Watkins, BAL (1 Viewer)

Starting him with confidence.
It comes down to Watkins or Jeremy Hill for me. I'm down 80 points after last nights Redskins game that saw Cousins, Reed, and Jackson murder me. I am likely going to be eliminated from division contention and will be awarded the 1.02 in next year's draft. I will take it. Therefore, I am playing the longshot this week. I am on borrowed time anyways. Injuries killed me this season.

In my lineup this week. Idgaf if I get burned. If he goes off you gonna look real dumb. A studs a stud. Sammy don't need 60 snaps to make an impact.

I don't think anyone is going to look dumb if they don't start him.  I actually think it's pretty smart to watch him play one game before starting him unless you are in desperation mode.

Sammy don't need a week. Man we're talking about Sammy!

He's either going to go 4 targets, 3 catches 109 yards & 1 TD OR 10 targets, 6 catches 158 yards and 2 TDs.  There are no other options.

He's active. If your own him, you must start him.

You really wanna leave him on the bench, watch someone step on his foot, sidelining him for 4 months, and you missed out on the chance to play him??

Don't be a maroon.  Start him

I think I'm going to start Shepard over him.  It doesn't really matter for me though, because no matter if I win or lose my playoff seed won't change.

Chances are good that will happen in the 1st quarter after a single 5 yard reception.

I feel like you're trying to tell us something here but I forgot to wear my secret decoder ring.

A single 5 yard reception that Sammy turns into 95 yards and two TDs.
I am not a smart man, but how does this work?  He catches a 5 yard pass, runs for a touchdown, keeps running out of the stadium, then around the entire earth then scores again??  Considering the polar ice caps are melted, I don't think you can run around the entire planet anymore, so it just doesn't make sense.  Does he get on one of those giant container ships?

You have to prove you're a stud each year now? Was not aware of this news.
After an injury like that? Absolutely he has to prove himself.

those here who drafted him are getting dejavu.  "He's healthy! He's declared himself 100%!"

Sad trombone.

he's not yet done anything but run around on a practice field. I'd give it at least a game to see how he performs before starting him.

Rule #1 of fantasy. Never sit your studs. I'll go down sinking if I must.
Watkins has yet to be a stud..

Despite the crown placed on his head in this thread before he was drafted, he hasn't broken the top 15-20 (pending your scoring) in a season and has shown unreliable about staying on the field.

Ribs, Groin, Hamstring, Ankle, Foot, Calf, Foot #2.  These are the injuries off the top of my head causing him to miss games less than 3 seasons in.

I hate the "injury prone" label, but this guy has gone beyond my patience threshold.  I am out on him for a year.  Already gone in one league, holding but not even considering starting in another.

I tend to agree. I have him in 2 leagues, hoping to catch lightning in a bottle here at the end of the season. But I believe he'll have to drop and drop for me to draft him next year

Sammy was 5th in in my league the last half of the season last year, and 7th in ppg over that time span. It's not a full season, but it's enough for me to know he's a stud when healthy going forward.

Sammy won a lot of leagues last year during that stretch too. That's what STUDS do!

Please note that a majority of people are looking at this through a redraft lens. Therefore, it is about who is hot. The redraft leaguer is also low on Hopkins, Robinson, and Gurley. Sammy Watkins is an excellent talent but until he catches fire, he will not garner much respect around here. In other words, Matuski gets to gloat around these parts for a little while longer.

He was absolutely a stud in the second half of last season. Easily carried my team week to week.

He's a great talent, and I'm hoping he can help my team again in a couple of weeks.

For the record, there's no way in hell I'm starting him this week.

If you cherry pick any decent players stats you can say their best XX games/weeks they were a stud.

He put up 65/982/6 as a rookie before that stretch of healthy play in year two. There's no cherry picking here, sir. Sammy has already flashed and if healthy will continue to move up the WR tier.

You hold grudges over Watkins for a long time.  You seemed to take my nailing the Decker comp last season the hardest... time to let it go.

I predicted him to make the leap this year, I drafted him on that, was wrong.

Why would I "gloat" when I drafted him in two leagues this year?  Own him in one still.

He hasn't made the leap.. he took a step backwards.  He is going the wrong direction.

He around #30 his rookie year. That you have to call out his "stretch of healthy play" demonstrates the point.

Kevin Smith was a top 5-10 RB the last half of 2008(?).  You can cherry pick damn near any player's best stretches.

Studs don't require cherry picking.

That wasn't the point. The point is that it's an awesome line for a rookie WR. He followed that season up with a SPECTACULAR second half of the season in year two. I'm as disappointed as anyone that he got hurt in the offseason, I was expecting him to move into the top 5 after this year. Hopefully he's healthy now and can win people leagues like he did last year.

As long as your adjectives remain qualified with "for a rookie" and "second half".. I have no problem.

Calling him a flat out stud is so far off right now.

I noticed you disappeared after Sammy went off and SUTFU last year. I expect this to happen again in the VERY near future.

I didn't disappear at all... document that for me.

Last he year he had to go SUTFU in order to catch up to and completely nail my call on the Decker comp.
