Nico is only missing one more gameWho steps up with him out? Obviously Dell, but Nico is still out and they have games to play.
He's a buy low but he will be 31 next year and coming off an ACL injury. The team has Nico and Dell and a couple younger guys in Metchie and Hutchinson that could make a name for themselves going forward. What's his future outlook like? Buy low? How low? Sell while there's still name recognition?
I see him as very dependent on where he lands in 2025...What's his future outlook like? Buy low? How low? Sell while there's still name recognition?
karma is undefeatedMy worry is next year he is playing but not back to 100%. So then his year 32 season he's back but now he's 32. This injury really sucks.
If Diggs doesn't stay in HOU maybe Dallas is a good spot playing 2nd to Lamb.karma is undefeatedMy worry is next year he is playing but not back to 100%. So then his year 32 season he's back but now he's 32. This injury really sucks.
forced himself out of Buffalo for being a dickhead
forced Houston to rip up the later years of his big money contract
maybe Dallas takes a flyer on him to placate his brother
Who steps up with him out? Obviously Dell, but Nico is still out and they have games to play.
The boring favorite here is probably Woods because of his prior experience and production, but I have a hunch Metchie will be the guy that best fills the gap left by Diggs. Xavier has flashed athletically at times but remains all too inconsistent as a player. It's possible he's never worked on/corrected some of the pre-draft route running concerns that existed and probably kept him out of the top rounds in the draft last year. Metchie is an early 2nd round pick and has always been considered more of a slot guy. He's also always been considered a plus route runner, much better than the other young guys on this roster. When drafted, he was recovering from an ACL tear and then was diagnosed with leukemia during his rookie camp. He seems to have put both of those major hurdles in his rear view, and I'm excited to see what he can do with a real opportunity. Prior to his ACL tear in December 2021, his final year of college, he was going to be a first round pick. People may be sleeping on him at this point, he's got skills, understands the game and he's barely 24.
I was a big fan of Metchie's career at Alabama and drafted him with the expectation of potential in NFL.The boring favorite here is probably Woods because of his prior experience and production, but I have a hunch Metchie will be the guy that best fills the gap left by Diggs. I agree and I'll always take a risk on a high ceiling guy like him vs a higher floor guy like Woods. It's been years since he played at Alabama, but I think people have forgotten just how good he really was. Metchie was/is special and his love for the game is obvious. He's fought hard to be where he is right now. He really is a great route runner and excels working the middle of the field. Between his ACL recovery and battle with leukemia, this might be the time when he really starts to feel full strength on the field again.I was a big fan of Metchie's career at Alabama and drafted him with the expectation of potential in NFL.The boring favorite here is probably Woods because of his prior experience and production, but I have a hunch Metchie will be the guy that best fills the gap left by Diggs. His obstacles were major (as pointed out), but he has done everything to overcome them and is just now getting the opportunity to actually grow and develop in the "game".
His potential is higher IMO.
Have you watched his college tape? Also, FWIW he also flashed in the preseason this year. Has Metchie every done anything in two years to make you say this? He's had every opportunity and crickets. I really think injuries and sickness have permanently hindered his chance of being "him".

Been given every opportunity? What do you mean by that? C'mon man. Until this week, he's been buried on the depth chart through no real fault of his own. He tore his ACL in December 2021, so 2022 was pretty much going to be a wash even without the leukemia diagnosis. Cancer treatment reeks havoc on the body, so it's probably a stretch to say he was ever at full strength in 2023 either.
Now, 2024, after a year of practicing and playing on his repaired ACL and a year to regain his strength after a battle with cancer, it might finally be his time. He has the talent, now that talent may be finding opportunity. He's far from a sure thing, but I do believe he fits a need and like I said earlier, he had a first round grade until he blew out his ACL. He's only 24. His story is far from written.
You have been hearing this for two years? So like when the guy had leukemia and wasn’t sure if he’d ever play again you were hearing about how good he might be? I've been hearing this for the past two years and have yet to see anything on the field to prove your point, not even a flash. I hope I'm wrong but I moved on last year and think he's just being rostered in hopes someone values him like you do and meets Casserio's ask.

I agree. High ceiling player who needs a chance. And on a side note, he finished last week with 3 catches on 4 targets, far and away his best totals of the season. I'm not sure what he will do this week on a short week without any time to put in any real work with the 1s, but I do expect his usage/opportunities to increase significantly in week 10. What he does with that opportunity is an unknown, but we'll finally start to find out if his talent and pedigree translates to production in the NFL, or not.![]()

2023 and 2024 season = two years buddy
Yep, easy guy to root for and cheap to acquire in fantasy. I figured tonight would be a wash, but it will be interesting to see how he does with extended practice time with Stroud moving forward. I've seen him open a few times tonight but on a short week it's expected he and Stroud won't have a connection, especially when the Jets can't stop Mixon or Houston's first read in the passing game. Tonight, that's Tank Dell.I agree. High ceiling player who needs a chance. And on a side note, he finished last week with 3 catches on 4 targets, far and away his best totals of the season. I dropped LV WR Tre Tucker for Metchie “for my end of bench” roster slot.
2023 was mostly recovery and getting healthy after treatment so IMO I don’t hold that year against him. The fact he did not supplant Dell or X is not a disaster but now he has an opportunity I believe he will step up. I still consider him a rookie since he really never hit the field 2022-2023
Time will tell.
I like Metchie. I hope he succeeds
Metchie looks the part. Talent + opportunity have come together nicely tonight. How can you not root for this guy?
Still injured / recovering / rehab and can't pass the physical yet - right?not a beep about this guy anywhere

Stefon Diggs is in Foxboro to meet with the New England Patriots, according to a source.
The Patriots badly need WR help and Diggs could provide that even if he may not be ready Week 1 as he recovers from an ACL tear.
Kinda gross until NE proves they can support and operate a good passing game. They do need a true #1 WR though but can they operate a competent offense that can produce for fantasy?Chad Graff

I think it Maye be the best opportunity for him to have FF success. The draft picks they wasted at the receiver position last year look like flops, a steady veteran will be Maye’s best friend imo. All depends where Diggs is at health wise of course.Kinda gross until NE proves they can support and operate a good passing game. Will be interesting to see if NE can improve from last year. It Maye be possible but he still needs to take a big step forward in year 2. Defenses have another year to scout Maye and this patriot offense. Year 1 was promising but nothing special. Everything is based on "hope" right now.... I actually thought it was special considering the abysmal cast relative to his performance. Just can't believe the horrendous job they've done so far this offseason getting him some help and Diggs won't offer much either, though for Diggs signing with him is probably good for his fantasy value.Year 1 was promising but nothing special

I agree. 100% disagree…Maye looked excellent especially when you consider he had no o-line, subpar skill players and an OC who was far more suited to being a QB Coach than an OC…would be tough to find a worse situation for a 21/22 year old rookie QB…the kid really seems to have his head on straight as well…the concerns are his supporting cast which right now outside of the coaching is not much better than he had last year.
ESPN Sources: Free-agent WR Stefon Diggs reached agreement on a three-year, $69 million deal including $26 million guaranteed with the New England Patriots.
This is why when I grow up, I want to be an NFL receiver. However, I doubt he sees the majority of that 69m. Decent but not crazy guaranteed portion, price you pay to get some help in NE right now. He will be 32 this year and coming off a major injury, shows you how desperate they are to get some help at that position. Hopefully he has found peace and can be of help on the field and in the locker room while they try to develop their young QB.Wonder how Diggs rehab is coming along. That is a big contract for an older guy coming off ACL injury. Now, having said that, NE had money to spend and if health Diggs is a great WR. NE has been missing a true #1 and Diggs could be that guy if he is ready for the season.
I'm usually pretty conservative though with players coming off ACL injuries. Sometimes it takes an extra year until they are truly 100% (physically and mentally).
Cool story incoming - I had significant knee surgery 10 years ago and while I was able to run a half marathon a year later it wasn't until the 2nd full year off surgery that I had the confidence to really push it and felt close to 100%.
Even Barkley and other athletes have said the same thing. Not everyone can be AP with insane recovery ability (wolverine).
Patriots signed WR Stefon Diggs, formerly of the Texans, to a three-year, $69 million contract.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Diggs’ contract includes $26 million guaranteed. The 31-year-old tore his ACL in Week 8 last season and may not be ready for Week 1. However, the Patriots needed a veteran wide receiver to add to a middling group that saw no wideouts over 700 receiving yards and just DeMario Douglas and Kayshon Boutte over 400 yards last season. Diggs was a Pro-Bowler and 1,000-yard receiver each season from 2020-2023 with the Bills and caught 47 passes for 497 yards and three touchdowns for the Texans in 2024. Still a top target-earner when healthy, Diggs will aid QB Drake Maye’s development while the Pats grow the offense. Fantasy managers can treat Diggs as a stash that will have fantasy WR2 upside as the season goes on.

He’s already expected to miss the start of the regular season. I heard the first month. Most guys take a full year to get back to normal. I would be pretty surprised if he put up fantasy WR2 numbers this year (even if we are only scoring ppg).Obviously health dependent, but worth noting Josh McDaniels has always been a fan of Diggs. Wouldn't blow my mind if Diggs still had a solid WR2 season in him.

Most estimates I've read have said about a month because if you begin the year on PUP then you miss four weeks, right? His injury came mid-season. I'd be stunned if he was good to go Week One.
We don’t even know the details yet. With only 26 mil guaranteed, I’m guessing it’s basically a 2/40 kind of dealMy lord what a contract for a 31 year old guy who’s already on the back nine of his career and coming off an ACL tear.
I know the Pats have oodles of cap space to work with and are in desperation mode with Higgins re-signing, Godwin spurning their monster contract, and little help from the rookie draft. But if they were bidding against themselves - and unless a lot was hidden it didn’t seem like a lot of teams were sniffing around Diggs - that’s pretty poor financial management.
