WR Terry McLaurin, WAS (1 Viewer)

This is the week everyone starts him (including me) and he craps out, right?
I just had said that to some one. Starting him for first time in two different dynasty leagues. I think you have to start him against the Giants and with what he’s done, but I’m also worried that he has to have a down week eventually.

I'm not worried about a QB change affecting him. Haskins threw to him during the preseason (and earlier, when they were in the same quilting circle or something). I doubt McCoy will ever start again (I think that's just Jay Gruden's dream that never pans out) and even if he does he's quickly going to be looking for guys who are open when the line collapses around him. Keenum already targets McLaurin. All 3 of those guys know who the team's best receiver is. And they're never going to have a lot of time to throw this year. They know who gets open.

On the other hand I would be worried if the Skins brought back Mark Sanchez, but nobody in their right mind would ever do that.

I think you always worry about a QB change no matter who it is when a guy is on a roll.

If you are splitting hairs in a lineup decision involving Scary T, this should provide some clarity.

It's been my experience that walking boots and playing a few days later don't go hand in hand. Sounds like coach gamesmanship.

According to multiple Rest of Season rankings, TM is a WR 30-37.  This seems very low.  Probably not the right thread to find dissenters but I'd have a hard time ranking him outside of the top 25.  What am I missing?

Where do you rank him?

Agree.  He will continue to climb the rankings week by week.  He is a very strong WR2 IMO.  Like WR18-20 seems right to me.

Anyone else notice the projected PPG for him through MFL? It’s been between like 3 and 6 PPG every game so far 😂
Yep... FSharks has him projected for 5/60 with no TDs despite him dropping a better line than that on the best D in football. uhhh... ok.

Terry McLaurin: It’s official, we should all be following my buddy John Proctor’s advice and make the nickname “F1” stick for McLaurin instead of the boring “Scary Terry” he’s been given. He’s now seen 24 targets on 124 pass attempts from Keenum, good enough for a 19.4 percent target share. His 47.1 percent of team air yards ranks third at the wide receiver position, a great indicator of future success. He just posted top-24 numbers against both the Cowboys and Bears defenses, two teams that combined to allow just 20 receivers to hit 14.9 PPR points against them last year (the average top-24 finish). He’s the real deal. Now onto his best matchup yet, as the Giants have already allowed seven different wide receivers post at least 12.0 PPR points against them, which included three 100-yard performances (Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, Mike Evans). Their top two cornerbacks who cover the perimeter are Janoris Jenkins and DeAndre Baker, who have combined to allow 30-of-43 passing for 578 yards and five touchdowns this year. Start “F1” as a WR2 in this matchup.

I often wonder who the hack is that does those projections.  Do they pay attention to the NFL at all?   Terry is the WR 1 for a team that must throw the ball even if you doubt his talent or the talent of the QB.   He should get at least 5-6 targets every week.  Period.

Could very well be right. A walking boot is hardly a ringing endorsement but there are a range of foot or ankle injuries that are on the mild side, that still require a boot. Is it just an ankle sprain? I say *just* but there are ankle sprains and there are ankle sprains. Totally plausible he plays this weekend.

#Redskins QB Case Keenum is back at practice after missing yesterday’s walk-through with a foot injury. That bodes well for playing this week.

Rotoworld blurb:

Terry McLaurin was added to the Redskins' injury report on Thursday with a hamstring issue, getting in a limited session.

The severity is unknown. It's possible the Redskins are just being cautious, but mid-week additions to the injury report are never a good thing. Amongst the league leaders in air yards, McLaurin has translated his gangbusters usage into at least 5/60/1 each time out. He has a mouthwatering Week 4 matchup in the Giants. Avoiding a Friday downgrade to "DNP" would tentatively have McLaurin on track to still suit up. Sit tight.

And this is one other inherent risk with rookies, especially those with limited collegiate usage. You just never know how the body will respond to a jump in usage, plus the dramatically increased overall intensity of, well literally everything.

Hammy's are part of the dreaded injury triumvirate. Let's hope MF1 takes care of himself even if it means sitting this week or more.

This is a rookie thing?  Tell that to the 500 other NFL veteran players who are the walking wounded rt now.

This was the blurb that CBS had.

Redskins' Terry McLaurin: Tending to hamstring issue

by RotoWire Staff
(17 hrs ago) Coach Jay Gruden said McLaurin was a limited participant during Thursday's practice due to a hamstring injury, Craig Hoffman of 106-7 The Fan Washington reports. "I sure hope not," Gruden said, when asked if the rookie is in danger of missing Sunday's game against the Giants.

McLaurin didn't appear Wednesday on Washington's initial Week 4 injury report, suggesting he likely picked up the hamstring issue at some point during Thursday's session. The fact that Gruden didn't exactly downplay McLaurin's injury is somewhat worrisome, but the wideout could erase some concern about his availability for the weekend by taking part in Friday's session in some capacity. McLaurin has already emerged as Washington's top receiver three games into his NFL career, hauling in 16 of 24 targets for 257 yards and three scores.

When this was all happening, I felt so left out (I went for Hollywood and Mecole that waiver period when everyone was grabby). Now, I'm just sad for you guys. And more convinced not to stream Keenum this week against the Giants but glad I speculatively added Paul Richardson.

Rotoworld blurb:

Terry McLaurin (hamstring) didn't practice Friday.

This would be an appropriate use of the Michael Scott "No god, no!" GIF. McLaurin, who has been an absolute stud (he's the first player in 35 years to begin his career with three straight games of at least 60 yards and a touchdown) for an otherwise bleak Redskins' offense, tweaked his hamstring at Thursday's practice, putting his status for Sunday's game in jeopardy. Paul Richardson and Trey Quinn would both be in for increased roles if McLaurin can't go, though hopefully he'll be in tow to take advantage of a tasty matchup against the Giants' overmatched secondary.

Sucky situation to say the least. Just when I was ready to unleash him, have to decide between DJ Moore, Kirk and Demarcus Robinson now
