Anyway, Terry is the real deal.  I saw enough when Keenum played to know that he’s a beast.   The only danger is the Snyder factor — which is a very real, very large danger.

Terry McLaurin caught 4-of-7 targets for 57 yards and a touchdown in Week 15 against the Packers.

McLaurin didn’t make his first catch until the final two minutes of the third quarter. His touchdown was a highlight one-handed catch in garbage time to salvage his day. It's a nice rebound for McLaurin coming off last week's two-catch outing. Even with the Redskins trying to hide Dwayne Haskins, McLaurin will be a boom-or-bust FLEX for a Week 15 matchup with the Eagles.

I'm a Redskins fan and week 1 of BBID waivers I went all in on Preston Williams (who I still think has huge upside) but regret not targeting McLaurin who went undrafted in the rookie drafts in SEVERAL of my leagues.

McLaurin caught a deep post, broke a tackle, and outran the Eagles secondary down the middle of the field for a 75-yard touchdown. It was the longest play of the season for the Redskins. McLaurin's five targets were well behind Steven Sims (11), though he was far more productive and still ended up leading Washington in receiving. McLaurin has touchdowns in back-to-back games and at least seven targets in four of the last five weeks. With Dwayne Haskins trending up, he'll be a WR2 play for a Week 16 matchup with the Giants.

It looked like part of the game plan the HC wanted to stick to. Sims is elusive, he's a good returner, and he's been starting since Quinn got hurt. Initially they were using him on more gadget plays, and I'm guessing he didn't know the routes too well. But he's been playing for several games now and yesterday they seemed determined to get him very involved in the passing game.  So I see it more as "game plan idea that worked less well that we thought" rather than either of what you described. They're definitely not tanking, if you watch the games you'd see that since Gruden got fired. And Sims did score one TD so the game plan idea wasn't disastrous.

Terry McLaurin caught 7-of-9 targets for 86 yards in Week 17 against the Giants.

McLaurin was again out-targeted by Steven Sims (10), but he still led Washington in receiving. This was mostly a quiet game for McLaurin, though he had a few clutch catches that sent the game to overtime. McLaurin had to be checked for shoulder and head injuries late in the fourth quarter but only ended up missing a few plays. The lone bright spot on offense for the Redskins, McLaurin needs just 81 yards against Dallas in Week 17 to go over 1,000 on the season.

Top 20 seems reasonable.   The talent is there.

McLaurin banged his head on a late Week 16 reception. The injury came at the end of a game where McLaurin caught a new career-high seven passes. It's his first documented concussion as a pro. The sensational rookie is just 81 yards shy of 1,000. The Redskins figure to give him a legitimate chance to suit up against the Cowboys instead of simply shutting him down. If McLaurin does play, he will be catching passes from Case Keenum.

Terry McLaurin (concussion) remained sidelined on Thursday.

It's encouraging that the Redskins have yet to rule McLaurin out for Sunday's finale against the Cowboys, but he is now up against it to get cleared. The sensational rookie is gunning for 1,000 yards receiving, which means the Redskins could take his status down to the wire. Typically, if a concussed player is not practicing in at least a limited fashion by Thursday, they do not suit up on Sunday.

Seven of those grabs went for touchdowns, good for second-most among rookies. With McLaurin sitting this one out, Steven Sims and Kelvin Harmon will lead the Redskins' pass-catching corps in Dallas.

Key stat: McLaurin was not only our highest-graded rookie wide receiver this season, but – joining an illustrious cast of names – he was our second-highest-graded rookie wide receiver this past decade.

McLaurin’s numbers don’t necessarily jump off the page, but then again, Washington’s 2,812 passing yards ranked 10th-fewest this past decade. Adjusting for that, however, it’s clear McLaurin was every bit the part of a true WR1 – he accounted for 32.7% of Washington’s total passing yards in games active, which ranked fifth-most in the NFL and the most by any rookie since Odell Beckham Jr.

Washington’s offense remains uninspiring heading into 2020, but that’s also less important than the broader point – that McLaurin looks like a truly special talent. Few metrics are better at predicting future fantasy success than PFF grades, and that’s especially true for rookie wide receivers (as evident by the names listed above).

Washington’s offense will improve sooner or later. In the meantime, bet on talent.

The article ranks Brown as #1 among Rookie WRs with McLaurin #2. It's just the PFF grade that has McLaurin higher rated, which makes sense given the relative stink coming off the entire WAS franchise, which is surely factored into to PFF's metrics.

Two very talented WRs.   Mclaurin didn’t have much to work with and looked amazing.   Brown is a physical beast.

Redskins coach Ron Rivera recently compared WR Terry McLaurin to D.J. Moore.

"I mean, he's a young man I think that had a solid year last year as a rookie, a third-round pick," Rivera began. "He's a guy that could be on the verge (of stardom), he really is." McLaurin recorded 58 receptions, 919 yards and seven touchdowns on just 93 targets last season. Moore, in his second year under Norv and Scott Turner, received 135 targets. A jump in 42 targets would be a massive boost for McLaurin in 2020, and Scott Turner has previously done a great job of manufacturing touches to players he wants to get the ball to.

Is Terry McLaurin the only player worth trusting on this Washington team?

Terry McLaurin was impressive as a rookie, finishing as WR27 in just 14 games. What is his ceiling in Year 2?

Liz: In a recent press conference, McLaurin said he wanted to focus on “big plays and getting the ball downfield” more in 2020. If he can do that, then his ceiling exists inside of the top-20 fantasy producers at the position. Coming off of a rookie campaign in which he averaged close to 10 yards per target (WR12) and posted the highest contested catch rate in the league (68.4%) it’s no wonder he was PFF’s highest-graded rookie since 2014.

Given his obvious talent, in tandem with his opportunity, McLaurin could draw upwards of 120 targets this year. For reference, just 17 WRs were looked to more than 119 times in 2020 … and only Jamison Crowder (who’s obviously a very different kind of player) finished outside the top-25 fantasy receivers. He’s the Yahoo consensus WR19.

Matt: I think a low-end WR1 finish is within his range of outcomes. That seems like a hot take and perhaps it would be ... if McLaurin didn’t clearly have the ability to get it done. When reviewing wide receivers for Reception Perception, McLaurin was the best 2019 rookie on film. Considering how often he got open against man and press coverage across the entire route tree, he looks like a future superstar in the league. Just from a pure individual player perspective, he may have had the best rookie campaign I’ve tracked since Odell Beckham in 2014. Here in 2020, McLaurin should have easy access to at least 25 percent of Washington’s team targets. There just isn’t much to compete with here. 

His outlook reminds me of Allen Robinson’s in 2015. Despite a real quarterback question, the skill of the receiver and the path to alpha WR1 volume makes him a perfect breakout bet. Take him with enthusiasm in Round 5.

Dalton: He's a freak athlete who somehow finished top-12 as a rookie in WOPR, yards per target and Passer Rating despite ranking #85 in Target Accuracy (and there’s reason to expect QB improvement in 2020). Moreover, McLaurin ranked #1 in Contested Catch Rate and #2 in Dominator Rating, and just as importantly, he’s the only game in town in Washington, the team’s clear alpha unlike many other WR/TE situations in the league. He’s star material. I have McLaurin ranked aggressively as my WR12, and there’s upside for even more.

He was awesome last year because his ADP was nil in redraft.  

I think Haskins takes a big step forward--or Allen starts and is an improvement over 2019 Haskins.  But I believe Haskins will be a good NFL QB.  Either way, McLaurin should see more passes.  The passes he sees should be higher quality.  I expect Turner and Rivera will throw it more.  I don't think the Red Skins defense is anything special this year.  They've compared him to DJ Moore and while Moore may be more talented--it highlights how they plan to use him. 

The crazy person in me sees a world where he gets 140 targets, 85-90 catches, 1200 yards, 6-7 TD's.  Maybe more realsitically 75 for 1050-1100 and 6-7 TD's.  Still.  I love the upside.  I think he sees a lot of volume in an improving offense.  

I'll have a ton of him this year unless he moves up draft boards.  Footballguys has him at 28. Fantasypros at 25.  ESPN has him at 23.  I've currently got him at WR20 for non-ppr between Lockett and Sutton.

Yes, it is 1 QB and I was overpaying for that bunch. I guess sometimes the best trades are the ones that get rejected and you don't make.

I'm glad he didn't take it. I have plans for that first rounder (I'm in an IDP league and I see a guy that mid-first is just dynamite).

For me it’s Gallup. But I understand the appeal of McLaurin. I’m just not confident Haskins is QB all season and Washington is starting over yet again next year. This guys value is through the roof. Washington has a boat load of cap next year, so I could see them signing a big name WR too. Maybe even a RB. Suddenly a lot more competition. 
 

Conversely Gallup is cheap-ish considering Lamb going there

If I felt more confident about Haskins I would see McLaurin as a top 10 WR. He combines route running and pure speed like very few WRs we've seen.
