WR Terry McLaurin, WAS (1 Viewer)

Faust, your updates have begun to scare me, but then sometimes they bring the happy.

It's a fine-edged sword here. At least I'm informed rather than not.

Terry McLaurin caught 4-of-8 targets for 83 yards in Washington's Week 3 loss to the Browns, adding one rush for three yards.

McLaurin once again led the Football Team in targets, regularly beating defenders with the ball in his hands. Dwayne Haskins barely missed McLaurin in the end zone in the second half. It's possible Haskins can't support a stud fantasy receiver with massive offensive volume, which the Football Team lacks. Fantasy players should keep their expectations in check next week when McLaurin goes against the Ravens.

FBG has him ranked as the #12/#13 WR ROS.  Other sites seem to project him lower, typically ranked in the 20s.

I'm also seeing some chatter about Haskins potentially losing his job to Allen or even Smith at some point.

For those of you following the WFT or that have watched the games, where do you see his fantasy production moving forward?

I see it going up...

...after he faces a livid BALT D this week.

And was just added to the injury report....listed as questionable Sunday..........
Rotoworld:

Terry McLaurin was added to Thursday's injury report with a thigh issue, getting in a "limited" session.

We never like to see mid-week additions to the injury report, but a "thigh" often a bruise. This being football, they're painful, deep bruises, but things players typically play through. That, of course, is just speculation. For now, fantasy players can keep McLaurin penciled into their lineups. Even a limited Friday session would keep McLaurin on pace to play against the Ravens.

Questionable.

Horrible matchup.

Rotoworld blurb didn't indicate practice participation today.

On the fence with him this week, but only have an MVS or G. Ward to replace him with. And that made me throw up in my mouth.

McLaurin (thigh) wasn't participating in team drills at practice Friday, Sam Fortier of The Washington Post reports.

The 24-year-old was riding the exercise bike on the side and appears to be a limited practice participant for the second straight day, as Ben Standig of The Athletic reports he was also working on the side field.

UGH....hollywood brown or mclaurin...ugly choices

Ravens offense is going to get right this week. I think their defense will, too. So Hollywood all day, right? Well that gamescript says Football Team throws a lot and Ravens maybe only do so early. Yuk.

I was thinking of benching Terry in a couple spots anyway where I can afford it but dang it has been tough to put out solid WRs each week.

I have no choice but to start M. Brown. I think BALT will try to get L. Jackson right. Both are waaaay overdue to hook up for a bomb.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Terry McLaurin (thigh) is expected to play in Week 4 against the Ravens.

McLaurin didn't practice Friday but is still expected to be available against Baltimore. Given the awful matchup with McLaurin presumably less than 100 percent, fantasy players should try and avoid Washington's star wideout (barring no alternatives) in Week 4. It's also possible Dwayne Haskins is benched mid-game after meeting with coach Ron Rivera about his struggling performance during the week.

Haskins in game benching seems like a real possibility.

Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing or just a nothing thing if K. Allen takes over.

You lose the narrative about the connection between them in college.

It doesn't stop McClaurin from being good. So I think its a nothing burger or possibly an upgrade.

TERRY MCLAURIN WR, WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM

Washington declared QB Alex Smith, WR Steven Sims Jr., DB Danny Johnson, LB Cole Holcomb, OT Saahdiq Charles, and DE Chase Young inactive for Week 4 against the Ravens.

Terry McLaurin, who missed practice Friday with a thigh injury, will play against Baltimore. He's a good bet to see garbage time opportunity in what's likely to be a blowout loss for the Football Team.

Terry McLaurin caught 10-of-14 targets for 118 yards in Washington's Week 4 loss to the Ravens.

McLaurin's 10 grabs are a career high. He was mostly held in check until the fourth quarter when Dwayne Haskins hit him down the sideline for 39 yards. McLaurin is always going to be the main beneficiary of negative game script of the Football Team. He could see plenty of that next week against the Rams. McLaurin will once again be a locked-in WR2.

Terry McLaurin (thigh) was cleared for Week 5 against the Rams.

McLaurin went into Week 4 listed as questionable in an impossible spot against Baltimore and came away with season-highs in targets (14) and catches (10). He'll be fine (and remains a terrific WR2 start) in Week 5 against Los Angeles.

So how do we really feel about Kyle Allen to Scary Terry?  I'm trying to decide between him and Diontae and Gallup.......I'm leaning Diontae

I think it’s an upgrade. DJ Moore had an incredible season with Kyle. Haskins was very very bad. I watched most of the WA games this year. I think Terry’s production this year so far is his floor..... Terry is scary good.

Why?

Currently McClaurin is WR 10 in PPR scoring. Johnson is 55. Should be a no brainer.
Because you have to look a points per game in which they were actually playing to get an accurate picture of Johnson's success or lack thereof. He was concussed fairly quickly in Week Three, IIRC, and his bye week has already happened.

He's averaging around 17 PPG in games played and completed, just like McLaurin.

It's a perfectly legitimate lineup decision, especially given that McLaurin is likely to see Ramsey all game.

After last week, I don't know how you can sit him.

You could argue that last week was a worse matchup, with a worse QB, and he caught 10 balls.

Ramsey doesn't shadow the whole time. That's not how they use him. He will see quite a bit of Ramsey though.

And Allen leaned hard on DJ Moore last year.

After last week, I don't know how you can sit him.
I agree with one caveat: If you have a normal choice at WR3, you can't sit him.

If you have Diontae Johnson, you just might think about it. And Gallup might get into a track meet with the Giants. So it's all over the place there. It's an enviable position to be in if those are your choices for WR2. That's good drafting.

The football team is hot garbage......that's about what it amounts to....hard to get consistency when you can't score

I don’t know if he got a target after Smith came in, he certainly didn’t have a catch.
He had a target which would have gained about two yards but was throw into the ground - Alex Smith is a great story but not sure why he was left in the game once Allen was cleared.

Speculation is that the division is so bad that WFT is going for it with Smith at the helm. That's what Thomas Boswell wrote in the WaPo, and he made a pretty convincing case that Alex Smith would be Rivera's guy sooner than later. This was sooner.

I saw Smith target him once on a deep ball. Overthrew terry by inches or else it would Have been a ~40 yard completion.
That was about as good a throw that you could have made under the circumstances and McLaurin just barely missed it laying out. Almost Alex, which I believe was the 49ers thread name for him.

Kyle Allen - Retaining starting job

October 11, 2020

Coach Ron Rivera confirmed Allen, who exited Sunday's loss to the Rams with an arm injury, will retain the starting job if he's ready to play Week 6 against the Giants, Mike Jones of USA Today reports.

ANALYSIS
Rivera added that he held the quarterback out the rest of the game Sunday because Allen's arm was sore and the coach wanted to be cautious. The third-year signal-caller completed nine of 13 passes for 74 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions before exiting the contest, and he was replaced by Alex Smith, who was seeing his first action since the 2018 season due to a gruesome leg injury.

Started McLaurin last week in a matchup pretty much everyone said was lousy against the BALT CBs. Poor outcome.

This week, the matchup isn't great either as Bradberry has been top notch.

And K. Allen is playing QB.

Hard to sit, but I was burned last week. Thinking of sitting for M. Brown (who doesn't have a great matchup either against Slay...unless he doesn't clear concussion).

Need this QB situation to settle and get these bad matchups cleared out. Dallas next week.

Terry was great against Balt in week 4; 10 for 118.  Last week was bad as he went up against Ramsey, had two different QBs throwing to him, and there was some nasty weather.  I am pretty sure Kyle Allen targeted him 5 times in the first half as I am pretty sure Alex only targeted him twice in the second half.....(7 total targets).  I am starting him but am holding my breath

I think Smith was the problem last week more than anything.  Allen did fine for DJM last year.
The Field was rain soaked, with poor footing.    Smith was playing dump-off most of the time to McKissick in first action in 2 seasons.  O-Line didn't necessarily provide a ton of time and Smith was under pressure a lot.

Even given this, Smith tried to hit McLaurin twice with bombs.     One 45 yarder was just barely overthrown and McLaurin couldn't get to it.    The other was a 35+ yard downfield that McLaurin lost his footing and slipped on the crappy field.

Terry about to visit Bradberry Island - keep your expectations in check.

the QB situation is bad enough, but it would be nice if he could have a decent matchup one of these weeks

Yuk. 🤢 I’m loaded at WR and haven’t had to use McLaurin much this season. But with Metcalf on bye I gotta play him this week.

That data is hard to ignore.

Bradberry  stays on 1 side of the field, so he won’t be on him all game. He never follows teams number 1s.
Good to know. Was thinking about starting chase Edmonds over terry in my flex but i may not now. Edmonds Matchup With Dallas is hard to pass up.
