WR2 in Green Bay (1 Viewer)

In the past 10 seasons, the #2 WR in Green Bay has averaged 56 receptions, 816 receiving yards, and 5 TD. The names may or may not have been pretty (Beebe, Brooks, Schroeder, Freeman, Glenn, Driver, and Chatman if you're scoring at home--or even if you're not), but for the most part Favre's secondary target has still put up decent (sometimes great) production.

To put things into perspective, a 56-816-5 season would have ranked as the #32 WR last year in 0 PPR leagues and #30 in 1 PPR leagues.

Looking at this week's posted ADP info, the #2 WR from GB (at least for drafting purposes) is Greg Jennings at WR60. For now, Robert Ferguson on paper looks to be the #2 with Rod Gardner and KC import Marc Boerigter also in the mix.

Does anyone think a true #2 will emerge and be a very cheap fantasy option?

I see it as a revolving door. Ferguson is most familiar with the offense and actually produced some when he was the #2 last year. So he should start the year there. Then he'll get hurt. Gardner or Boerigter should move up at that point, depending on who is farther along in knowing the offense. Then those two jockey for #2. meanwhile, Jennings continues to develop and gets in the mix midseason. At some point, Ferguson possibly gets healthy again and re-inserts himself into a mix.

Predicting who will be the #2 for the whole year (or if there will even be a consistent #2) is a mess. However, getting the #2 of the moment, and stashing away a couple of candidates in leagues with deep rosters is not a bad idea.

Bottom line:

#2 GB WR over the course of the year - likely to change

#2 GB WR week to week - decent depth/possible starter in start 3 WR

Bloom is GB switching to a Denver style offense, or is that for run blocking scheme only and keeping the WCO as the passing O?

The passing offense will be WCO. And from the sounds of it, much more of a traditional west coast offense then they have had in the past.

yep - the mccarthy flavor.

I've been drafting Ferguson since January.

This a solid strategy, provided you are ready to pounce on whomever gets the job when Ferguson gets inevitably gets banged up. I think you can probably get Ferguson in the last round of most drafts.

I think you are correct here. I could see Boerigter stealing it with the right opportunity...or any of the potential WR3's. But will be Fergie's job to lose.

I would draft Ferguson/Gardner combo as of now. That's just based on what I've seen from the players involved. I know Boerigter has been getting good reviews in GB, but this would be my strategy as of today. Will likely change over the next few months.
