 They sped up the vocal track to produce a higher pitch. That's why it sounds so different.

The first time that I heard any Badfinger song, I thought that they were the Beatles. I know that some of them were written and produced by Paul and George, but the vocals were extremely similar.

This was pre-internets and I think we called in a radio station to settle it
