They were shooting a laser into Cardinal players eyes while at bat.
WTF?!
WTF?!

They should have had to forfeit. Two words. It's Philly
jesusSomeone got beat to death afterwards. There was a big frakas in the ajoining bar and they kicked like 30 people out and someone ended up getting killed. My dumb ### Cards fan ( in full gear nonetheless) friend briefly tried to stop it and almost got smoked. He was happy though...he met Whitey Kurkowski's son.

Some of my friends were with the group of guys who did this. Luckily, they weren't with them when it happened. I know the guys who are going to get charged with this. It's a shame, because they a not the confrontational type but obviously, the alcohol clouded their better judgment. It's a shame that one guy lost his life and another group of guys ruined theirs over something that was so trivial. My cousin lost his life in a similar manner (got beaten to death) and every year we hold a sports tournament in his memory to raise money for a scholarship in his name and these guys are always a part of that, either participating or donating time/money and I can't believe that they would do such a thing. Nothing ever changes and it makes me sad to now know that another family has to deal with the same thing that my family had to go through. I just shake my head at this, when will people change.Someone got beat to death afterwards. I all fairness, it would be a lot tougher to get away with it at Kaufman Stadium, when only two fans are at the game and one winds up dead its pretty easy to figure out who did it.Getting beat to death at a baseball game has to be pretty high on the sucky way to die scale. What's going on in Philly where this kind of stuff happens? Serious question. You're not hearing about people getting beat to death outside a Royals game.

I don't think it's a game specific thing. By the sounds of it...it could have happened at any bar. The city itself just seems more and more like the Wild West though. 4 other people got shot that night and one killed in a hit and run. There have been a number of cops killed in the past few years.Getting beat to death at a baseball game has to be pretty high on the sucky way to die scale. What's going on in Philly where this kind of stuff happens? One guy is around 39-40. Another is 33. The third guy, I don't know how old he was.I all fairness, it would be a lot tougher to get away with it at Kaufman Stadium, when only two fans are at the game and one winds up dead its pretty easy to figure out who did it.Getting beat to death at a baseball game has to be pretty high on the sucky way to die scale. What's going on in Philly where this kind of stuff happens? Two charged in ballpark beating death; third sought
By Allison Steele

Police today charged two men in the beating death of a 22-year-old man during a brawl Saturday night in a parking lot at Citizens Bank Park.
A third man was being sought.
Police said Charles Bowers, 35, of the 6100 block of Bustleton, and James Groves, 45, of the 800 block of East Almond Street, have been charged with murder in the death of David Sale, of Lansdale. Both were taken into custody at the parking lot Saturday night.
Investigators are seeking Francis Kirchner, 28, of the 1200 block of E. Palmer Street, who fled before police could arrest him on Saturday.
The three men were part of a bus trip to ballpark organized by a Fishtown bar, police said.
Sale was among a group of men attending a bachelor party at McFadden's pub, which is attached to the Phillies' stadium.
Police said the two groups got into an altercation at the pub about 7 p.m., as the Phillies game was in late innings. According to police, McFadden's employees ousted the two groups from the bar, and notified police.
But the fight resumed in a nearby parking lot, Police Lt. Frank Vanore said.
By the time police arrived, Sale, the brother of the bride to be, was on the ground and unresponsive. He had been hit repeatedly about the head with fists and feet, Vanore said. There were no signs that any weapons were used in the attack.
"Several witnesses and potential suspects were taken into custody immediately," Vanore said.
In a statement, Michael R. Stiles, Senior Vice President for Administration and Operations for the Phillies, said organization expressed "heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of David Sale."
"We also want to express our appreciation to the Philadelphia Police Department for their efforts in this matter," Stiles said. "We trust in the justice system and have confidence that the persons responsible for this tragic loss of life will be held accountable."
Stiles said there would be no other comments "in light of the fact that there are open homicide charges."
As much as I hate Philly sports fans, this type of incident is not specific to any one fan base. There are idiots everywhere and unfortunately incidents like this happen in all sports towns.Getting beat to death at a baseball game has to be pretty high on the sucky way to die scale. What's going on in Philly where this kind of stuff happens? Yeah...but it was kind of dumb to try it with a Pujols jersey and a Cards hat.talking about guy trying to break up the fight. was a good thing, no sarcasm.
Yea, I just wish our fans were more like this. Someone should have pointed out the guy with the laser pointer, and fans should point out unruly fans even it means getting a fellow home team fan in trouble while they are messing with a fan of the visiting team. Not saying you need to get in a fight or anything, but our fans could be more responsible by telling event staff when someone is out of line.Yeah...but it was kind of dumb to try it with a Pujols jersey and a Cards hat.talking about guy trying to break up the fight. was a good thing, no sarcasm.
Meh, it's not like it was the Mets or something. I really don't think Phils fans (as compared to Eagles fans) get as jacked up about the opposition's fans. It's a looong season to care about a Cards fan. I don't think the fight had anything to do with St. Louis.Re: the laser pointer - there are a lot of dumb people out there but this is the first I've heard of it happening in Philly. It's happened in Tampa and SD either this year or last, the umpires had said as well. Isolated incident by a couple of dumb people There are bad eggs in every fan base.Yeah...but it was kind of dumb to try it with a Pujols jersey and a Cards hat.talking about guy trying to break up the fight. was a good thing, no sarcasm.
Didn't this happen with the laser pointer though? I thought they caught the people doing it?Yea, I just wish our fans were more like this. Correct and it was at least two fans because there was a red and green laser at the same time. I think MLB need to nip this in the bud...crewmember said:no, they didn't catch the person to the best of my knowledge.
Yep, sad too.I've been known to be "the life of the party" guy but when I'm in a strange surrounding I dial it down a couple hundred notches.RedRaiders said:I just caught an updated clip on the news about this. Pretty much the worst case scenario. You've got a group of 30 regulars from a Fishtown Bar going ot the game together + 8 guys at a bachelor party. The guy who died was always "the life of the party". Started over a spilled drink. The three arrested include a guy that is 45 years old. Real brilliant members of society.
In all fairness, where there is smoke there is fire. I am quite sure that Philly fans in general are not unfairly sullied by the actions of a few.Angels

And there are plenty more if you go back and look. The laser thing has happened several times all across the country.
But, of course, because it's philly, all of a sudden it's ten times the story and we're all a bunch of troglodytes.
I'm sure we'll hear about the drunken Santa that was snow balled OVER 40 YEARS ago.
I'm sure we'll hear about Michael Irvin but nobody will mention Neon Deon dancing around him like some circus freak and many actually booing his ridiculous display.
Of course nobody remembers browns fans cheering both derrick anderson and Ryan Clark's injiries. NY cheering Brady's injury. Actually Yankee fans cheered THEIR OWN PLAYER, A-Rod, when he got hurt.
I'm sure we'll mention McNabb's booing even though it was a stupid radio show stunt who sent up 30 guys with explicit instructions to boo ANYONE picked except Ricky Williams.
Has anyone ever been to a Raiders vs Chargers game or a USA vs Mexico soccer match (soccer probably deserves its own insane category, but i'm talking about right here in the U.S.)
But it's philly. So let's all stop and pay attention. Let's focus the national spotlight on our terrible savage fans. Let's pick the most ignorant and ridiculous looking people we can (the fewest teeth the better) and interview them for our stories.
We love our teams. We know our sports. We cheer and boo with passion. If you live out west you can only dream about experiencing what it's like to be at an East Coast stadium in Boston, NY, or PHilly during a playoff game. But every city has its idiots and morons, it's monsters and thugs. Everyplace has it's bad moments. But every time we do, stop the presses!
